Once again I got a robocall from ATG credit about a debt my daughter owes AT&T.  I have used the option to remove my phone number from their list since my daughter hasn't lived here in over 10 YEARS, but ATG still keeps calling me.  Finally I called them back and demanded my phone number be removed from their database and the woman simply hung up on me.

Will someone out there start a class action law suit against ATG and demand a HUGE settlement from their corporate parent AT&T for all us who have had to endure the sleazy tactics from ATG.  I'm sure AT&T could afford a big settlement for all of us.

I have been called by this outfit every day and they are looking for my daughter, not me.  I know that my daughter owes AT&T money but since she developed a medical problem, her employer wouldn't take her back, then he went bust 6 months later, she can't find work because her medical condition is still ongoing.  This debt collector, which is a division of that giant monopoly AT&T refuses to believe this and since her phones have been shut off, they are pestering me.  I get robocalls every day from these crooks every day and I have consistently demanded my phone number be removed from their database, but, as is usual with AT&T, they ignore me and continue harassing me even though my daughter hasn't lived with me for over ten years.

I hope someone out there starts a class action lawsuit against this damn outfit and us victims get some peace and quiet from them!

This is a collection agency then I came across this ad they have to along with these numbers 800-969-4523 also 779-774-7296 they also have been reported on the collections part thru the better business burea,they are all very rude.Margaret Fitch and Andrew Twyman are president and vice president,there a collection agency but also have a ad for credit careds probably then so they can get all your info and sue you for a bill or harass you

This is a collection company that are absolutely the rudest people I ever spoke with on the phone,I was in the hospital with no job or insurance had to set up a payment plan and I did,I was just calling for a balance and the man literally screamed at me for my social security number was asking me if I lived in this state and that state what my mothers name was which she is deceased,what my maiden name was,I said all I want is the balance on my bill he yelled again give me your social security number or I ain;t helping you he hung up,Then I called back and told the lady I wanted to speak with a manager I explained what he did she would put me right thru and OMG it was him again he was rude and said I had no account there give me your social security number,I called the palos hospital where I was at and they said thru Radiology is private Dr;s nothing to do with the hospital billing they hire independently there collections.I have had nothing but problems even getting them to send my statement that's why I have to call in and this has been going on for year and half of rudeness where if they would send my statement I would not have to call I have even sent certified requesting my info and still nothing only rudeness.

Could you please give me a copy? I all of a sudden starting receiving phone calls from them and they said I just recently paid them 15.00 and I still owe 200 something from 2012!!  I don't think that they have the right person.  I cant pay something that I have never been billed for.

You could send the company a cease and desist letter (there are many templates available on the web).  Send it certified mail/return receipt/signature requested.  Once you have proof they have received this, you can keep records of any violations and sue them for harassment.  

If they were legitimate, they should have mailed you a debt validation letter proving you owe this debt and to them.  If they refuse to MAIL you this documentation showing original creditor, amount owed, date of last payment, this shows they do NOT have proof you owe the debt.  They cannot "trash" your credit since the debt is so old.  If you do notice something on your credit report, you can dispute this with the credit agencies.

No, actually, it is illegal to threaten with a lawsuit if they are not actually going to take you to court.  This is per the FDCPA.

These people call me constantly about a $21 bill from 10 years ago that I don't owe.  The gentleman, and I use the term loosly, was horrible.  He told me that he didn't give a crap what the situation was, but that I owed the money and my credit was about to be trashed.  He hoped that i could never buy anything again in my life and that I was an idiot for not paying the bill in the first place.  I asked to speak to someone else and he refused.  I called back and it was the same guy....screaming at me.  These companies have no business buying old debt lists and harrassing consumers about old write offs.  These calls are coming into my business office no less!

They have called me twice looking for a "C...A..." (I'm sure it was a fake name).  I didn't answer either call but my answering machine did.  When I played the messages back,  it says that because I didn't respond to them (I don't believe they've invented an answering machine, yet, that can take part in a conversation), I was indeed that person they're looking for.  They said they were ATG Collecting Agency and it's about a past due amount.  I don't owe anyone any money.  And that is not my name.  I returned the call and told them they had the wrong number.  They said, really fast--like they were in a hurry--that they would take my number off their list.  They said my number showed up on their caller I.D.  I'm sure I haven't heard the last from them.

There is a sure way to stop them from calling you. You need to tell them to "cease and desist" contacting you. They will then request you put it in writing. Once you have done this ( I send certified mail) any contact they make with you after that can be grounds for legal action against them.

I was sent a form "cease and desist" letter from a fair credit collection attorney that I use whenever contacted by these types of idiots. I will provide you with a copy of this letter if you request it.

Debt collector.  They persist in calling about my adult daughter, altho I initially explained I had no contact with her, was not responsible for her debts & wanted my number removed from their list.  We do not answer but get numerous calls all day long.  I can't believe they are allowed to harass you for someone else's debt.

Called back to assue me they were not harassing me.

Got same call, told them this....."Before you start, I need to inform you this call IS being taped and this is your notice as required by my state. This may be used in any court proceeding. Do you understand you are being recorded". Not a peep, they hung up so I called back and when I gave them my name I said the same speech, they told me they had the wrong number!!!  Hilarious!!!

How are these people.  What can be done about it.  I signed up for the no call list.  What a JOKE!!

If they truly threatened you with legal action and did not follow through, they are in violation of the law and you have a good shot at your own legal action against them.  Go get them!

I owe nothing, but my number is listed under my aunt's name-- first initial, common surname in large city. They called for "Robin" (no Robin here). First time I called back I got a "Karen" and when I told her I was calling to get my number off their database I hung up. Didn't get the name of the guy second time I called. Incredibly rude. I told him I was recording the call and he told me that Illinois is a "two-party state" and that was illegal, and I told him "not if I inform you" (When you call *them* they say they're recording for quality purposes. He refused to connect me to a supervisor when I asked and laughed. I called a third time, got the same guy I think and he told me my number was taken off.,

I do try it this way--calling back--because it costs less money and since I have a common surname I'm constantly trying to stop CA's from calling me despite owing nothing. But if they persist, the next step is to look up their address and write them--certified mail, return receipt requested, asking for debt validation and limit communication by mail, which costs about $5.50, which is why I try calling first. If they persist despite that, then next you report them--to the Federal Trade Commission (although that just gets them on a database) your State Attorney General Office--and in my case, since NYC has a very helpful agency and strong consumer protection laws, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs--they've been able to get several persistent CA's to stop calling.

So, bottom line, try to document all your contacts (I keep a phone log) and try to reach out to authorities to help. You don't have to go it alone.

Told my son that they were going to sue me and I could lose my house. I'm pretty sure that both are totally illegal. I eventually had to have our home number changed because they were calling multiple times and first in the morning almost everyday. I probably get 100 calls from them in the last 3 months even though I told them that my husband lost his job and we were struggling just to pay our bills. The guy laughed at me and said "that's not my problem ma'am I guess you should've though of that first". I think that guy wouldve taken his own mothers house if it would make him a nickel.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done with this? 6 times......I have spoken to someone and told them I am not the person they are trying to get a hold of. If you threaten legal action, they start mocking you and they refuse to let you talk to a supervisor? Anybody else have ANY other suggestions? This is ridiculous!!

They call me daily asking about a compnay thats on my personal cell phone. I filed a complaint with the FTC, and Attorney generals office. Thay are such b*****ds

This is apparently a company called ATG. They refused to say what city they're in. Ever since I got my phone I have been harassed by them, as many as 200 phone calls in the last year. Every time a real person answers I tell them I'm not the person they're looking for and to stop calling me or I will file harassment charges. They referred the matter to an attorney and I had my city police call them twice and threaten legal action. So what happened? The attorney simply bounced the case back to them and now they've resumed calling me daily.

Please stop having representatives from this phone number call me; there is not business here.
