called me 20 times within a 2 1/2 hour period, with some of the calls being within the same minute as the previous one...will call 5 or 6 times in a row, wait 1/2 hour to an hour then you will get another set of calls...it's harrassment!

This morning this company called both our cell phones and then the house phone. When I called them back (because even when you answer the phone it's only a recording to call them) I asked for a mailing address. The woman refused to give me a mailing address, was extremely rude and only wanted to negotiate the terms of repayment of a debt. Of course the debt was a credit card account that we have never had. She said that she wasn't going to give me the mailing address as I was "uncooperative and argumentative". Now I'm off to find out how to block this number (800-976-0890) and the other number they called from 215-642-3400.

They have called my cell phone at least 20 times today!  Back to back!!  They would call at least 4 times in 5 minutes, wait another 5 and then go at it again!!!  Would never leave a message or anything.  Just kept calling & calling!!!!!  Something needs to be done on this type of harrassment!

This company continues to call and call even though I have requested verificaton of debt.  Per FDCPA, once you dispute the debt in writing they must cease and desist all calls until they prove the debt to be valid.  They refuse to give a mailing address.  They got 3 different people on the phone and the last one was very nasty and threatening.  report these people for fdcpa violations

I have been getting calls from this number for weeks now. When my sister answered the phone today the guy who was on the line wouldn't leave his name just that he was calling from some Burgis Lawfirm. She even repeated the spelling and he confirmed Burgis. I've tried to find it on the internet but there's nothing there for that name. Appearantly he was very rude and demanding.

I have been getting calls from this number and have never recieved any correspondence from the Douglas Burgess law office. I luckily looked him up online and found that he is a fraudulent collector prior to giving him any money.

They have been calling my phone for weeks i don't know why because they never leave a message.  It would seem to me that if it were something legit that they would have sent me something by mail..  I have only had recordings from them.

I am in the process of trying to contact them as well. I also paid my debt 3 years ago and to my knowledge now, it was never really paid. i can not find a working number for them and am furious about this whole ordeal!!!!

Collectors are not bound by the DNC list.  However if they robo call your cellular phone or the like you can get them for violations of the TCPA.

My friend received a call from Tony Rizzo from 800-559-0708, ext. 1127 claiming that she owed money to tendollarpaydayloan.com. I asked him to fax over the debt instrument with her signature. He sputtered, hemmed and hawed that such and such laws allowed him to sue for the money. I answered, "well that's great for you. In the meantime I would appreciate a faxed copy of the debt instrument." I furthered informed him that I am licensed California attorney and would, if necessary, represent my friend in any negotiation or settlement of the supposed debt. He screamed, pleaded, and threatened; and then hung up! Priceless. He has not called back.

Do not sent them any money. If you sent them money once they will come back for more.

yes, they scammed us for over $6,000.00.  Now a different firm is calling us stating we have an outstanding judgment.  BEWARE!

I paid off a bill to Burgess Law firm earlier this year or either the end of last year. Now the creditor (HSBC) says they have no record of the bill ever being paid and filing a judgement against me. I am in the process of my bank doing a search to prove the payments were drafted. Burgess Law Firm, rather Fred Douglas, threatened to have me arrested so I borrowed money to pay the debt.

I would love to sue them!

I recently got two phone calls at work from this person claiming to be a legal assistant with Douglas R Burgess law firm. How they got my new work number is beyond me. They were very unprofessional. I asked them to send me some contractual proof. I just got a letter from them with a Marion Indiana address on it. Are these they same people I read about on here?
Any information would be helpful.

This law office has been calling me every night for weeks. They are trying to reach someone who used to have my phone number - 5 years ago! I told them a couple of times that the person they want has moved but they still call. What can be done?

They called looking for My Girlfriend.  Saying she has a debt to be resolved.  She has never used my phone to be listed

Some knucklehead called and asked for Dane Williams. He said that Dane was a party to a lawsuit and that the office was going to proceed with the case. The reference number was 321-492. I called them back and left a message. I told them that they have the wrong number or that Dane took them for a buggy ride.

I then surfed the web and found this. Actually, I was looking for the Dane Williams case. When it didn't show up I searched for the 800 number. What a hoot. This reminds me of the clowns that call your cell phone because your car warranty has run out.

It would be great if he calls back when I'm having a BBQ. I could put him on the speaker phone and let everyone enjoy the fun!

I know the feeling!!!  Exactly the same situation here.  I do owe small debt ($350.00 credit card that they say is now $1412.51)and I've been paying $100.00 a month for the last 3-4 months.  I can't get anyone to send me anything in writing.  Mr. Rodriquez was supposed to fax me today and I haven't received anything yet.

I've been paying them $50.00 every 2 weeks ror the past 3 months.  I asked "Rebecca" for paperwork to be sent to me stating our arrangements but I've never received anything.  Set up 6 auto checks and now that it is time to set up 6 more, "Rebecca" no longer works there and an arrogant, rude man by the man of Rodriquez at ext #23 tells me that the arrangements I had previously made with "Rebecca" are not correct and the total is almost double???  I DON'T THINK SO!!!  I'll not pay another dime!!!

My story is a little different. I do have a debt that is unpaid. It was for $500. They are claiming it is for $2200. They will not send me a statement of this amount. I have paid them over $800. They continue to call and say if i just pay $20 more they will consider settling. They call my former employer everyday and call my cell phone 2 or 3 times a day.

This attorney's office continues to call my cell phone looking for someone else and is very persistant in trying to find this person.  I have told them numerous times they have the wrong number and to stop calling.  I have been receiving calls from this firm for over 6 months now.

I called the NY State Office of Attorney Greivances committee and they told me to record every phone call I have with Burgess Law Firm. If they make comments like the ones they made to your child, they are in violation of the FDC and can be prosecuted. They cannot claim to be sending a warrant for your arrest or that they are going to sue you in court without being in violation.  If we can prove they are being unethical, the NY State Attorney's Office can do something about it.  If these calls are about a debt you owe and you think you've paid it, send proof along with a Cease and Desist Letter that you can find on www.Budhibbs.com  website.

This law firm called my name because her address of close to mine in reference to a debt.  They have been call me on my job and constantly harassing me.

I just got this call on my voicemail yesterday.  Similar story as those stated above.  They want to speak to someone who does not live at my house, a name that was not audible, Mardox Gould??.  I was prepared to call these people to tell them they have the wrong number but after reading this site, I may not even bother.  I do not now, nor have I ever been behind on any bills or owed money.
