I am a middle school teacher in sped and I contacted wgu to pursue accreditation credits to seek another endorsement. The teachers union runs a program called NEA academy that is associated with WGU. Don't believe me? Google NEA Academy. The school and number is legit. It's associated with the NEA teachers union.

I received a call from this number and the man would not say what the call was about. I am blocking the number.

It IS the number for Western Governors University - which IS an accredited online college where you can complete your bachelor's or master's degree. They have four areas - Nursing, Teaching, Business, and Information Technology. Try looking them up online - it is for real. It is also not that easy to get into, so no one is trying to 'trick you' into attending.  If they called you 'unsolicited', then it is most like a wrong number. That's all. I hate the fake solicitation calls from random numbers as much as anyone, but sheesh, at least recognize when the call may be due to a legitimate mistake and chill. I got called from this number today and I am in process of enrolling, which is why they called. I didn't recognize the number so I checked here, as soon as I saw it was WGU I called them back, and it was a missed call from my enrollment counselor. No big conspiracy.

Its WGU University.  I signed up for info and they called to answer my questions.

I contacted them for info just yesterday. It is not a scam. They are a University. They only call if you requested info direct. It is not a conspiracy! LOL

Does anyone know if the education you get at WGU is accredited so I can get a job with Gwinnett Co. Public schools in Georgia? I can't get a straight answer from anyone that knows.

Western Governor's University.  I had contacted them before, but missed the call, and since no message was left, I decided to look it up.  They have been really nice people to me at least, I think if you call them and tell them to leave you alone, they will oblige.  If you didn't solicit, maybe it's a wrong number, who knows.  I haven't decided whether to take courses with them or not, but so far they've generally respected my requests to leave me alone for awhile to make up my mind.

I second that. WGU is awesome. I am a student there as well. Special Ed. It is a legit number and if you call them Im sure they would remove you from any list you may be on.

If they do cold calling then it is reliable to assume it is a SCAM and to act accordingly. If they are legit, they do not need to be cold calling anybody. Do you work in the boiler room there? Sure sounds like it!

It's not a scam. It's a legitimate, accredited university called Western Governor's University. I work at a community college. We've been informed about this school as an option for our graduates to get a 4-year degree. It's now one of the accredited schools of Washington State. If you're at all interested in going back to school, it's good option.

This number is for Western Governors University. It is based in Utah, but it is solely an online university and students are based all around the world. No, I do not work for the university and am not giving false information to try and get people to fall for a scam. I am a student. This is a legitimate number. If you are receiving phone calls, nicely ask them to remove you from their list. The company is the one of the few (if not only) non-profit online universities.

I just got a call from this number, did not answer it. In NO WAY did I ever contact this university. I have no idea why they would be calling me. I am also on the DNC list. I don't live anywhere near Utah.

Got a call from 801-274-3280.  It is not a recognized call so left it ring to voice mail. They left a message about getting enrolled.  Did not say what school or other possible Institution.

Came to this site and saw WGU mentioned.  Checked Phone numbers across United States and found no WGU with the phone number that called me.

Pretty slick writing your own revues in a place to report SCAM calls and try to convince people to call them back or to answer and fall for a SCAM.

Yes, Western Governors University. They called me because I had requested info. Don't know if they do any cold calling or mass marketing, but they will call people who have expressed interest in online degree programs.
