I found out who they are.. I think. My client was trying to reach me today and his number is 2 digits off. the company is a marketing company that runs education offers and more.

Just got a call from 312-878-5578, second one in as many weeks.  I also got a call from my credit card company on some fraudulent charges.  I believe my computer has been hacked.  Anyway, I blasted the guy on the other end of the phone, I told him that this is a fraud case, this information was stolen, he stopped talking, a supervisor came on the phone.  She gave me the 801-642-0241 number to call and they could give me the IP address of the computer that was used to take the "survey".  The call a week ago had to do with online marketing DVD to make money online with link placement.  I got the DVD in the next day.  Appears computer has been hacked.

They said I signed up for something online (BS).  The "employee" said his name was Nathan and gave some BS# to call customer service to get more info on how they were able to get mine (info).  801.642.0241

Called to ask for addl info about online classes that I did not request info for.

Received a call from this number and did not answer it. I don't know who they are.

They have been calling me all week and I answer it but I don't talk just to make sure that it's not an auto-message. So I stay on and within seconds they hang up, they did twice in a row, but with the answers you all have provided it makes sense to me now. I have filled out forms for scholorships and info about colleges on the net, so thatmay be why they are calling me too!

This is not the first time they have called me, and yes, it's the Career Institute. My phone number is on the do not call list and has been so for the past few months. I have filed a complaint with the company.

They've called me numerous times and as soon as I answer, they hang up.....Today some guy called me from that number asking for my mother and  claiming to be from a career institute.......not only have they called about 4-5 times within the last 4 days, I've also had 2 other numbers that called and hung up just like these "career institute" ppl......They even call me in the middle of the night......it's rediculous.....

This number was on my caller ID.  I called and spoke with Neisha who said she was with The Career Insitute.  When I told her that I was on the Do Not Call List, she said the only way they could have my information is if I filled out the online survey.  This is crap!  I didn't fill out anything online about college.  I also recieved calls today from 315-207-4761 & 866-201-4573 (getyourdegree.net)

The reason Nathan wasn't able to repeat what you had told him from an earlier conversation is because it wasn't the same person that spoke to you the first time. Nathan is a prerecorded script controlled by representatives at the call center hired by One-On-One to make these calls. The script was designed to cover as many responses as possible, and the recording offers huge benefits to the clients as opposed to having the reps speak directly to people. The reason he was talking in circles is because the script has a certain amount of redundancy that the rep isn't always able to work around in order to make the call flow normally. The original rep became frustrated because the answers to your questions weren't easily accessible through the script, so he/she flagged your number to be tried again by a different rep who had no access to any previous info nor any way to recite it back to you.

I received a phone call from "nathan" at 8:00 am est asking for my deceased mother. He stated that I filled out a form for online classes.

I have no idea how they got any information. I do have my home listed for sale and I am wondering if a shady realtor came to see it and stole personal information.

Similar story to other posters!  Nathan from the Career Institute called about the "online inquiry" that I'd never made.  He had my correct name, my correct phone number (obviously), and an old street address that was previously associated with the same phone number.  I asked what e-mail was given in the online inquiry, and it was not mine, though it appears to belong to someone with my same name.

When I pressed Nathan for details, he transferred me to his manager, Kirk.  Kirk provided me with a street address in Logan, UT, and suggested that if I called 801-642-0241, I could obtain the IP address of whoever made the online inquiry.

This is the second organization calling in the last few days claiming I had made an online inquiry, so I'm wondering if it's really the same scamsters.

You must be working for them! Don't tell people to call them it will cost them a bundle to call, by calling a tele marketer and asking them to take you off the list, you are actually confirming there is a live number they can call to! Just go to http://www.donotcall.gov and report them if your number is on the Do Not Call list. If you are not on the list, put it on the list and report them every time they call. The 801 area code is in Utah, the state that has very little control over what type of business operates within their State.
