I got a call from this number today as well.  I didn't recognize it so I didn't answer my cell.  People if this was seriously UPS they'd be calling from an 800 number and not an 801 number.  I live in Utah so I thought this to be highly suspicious when people say it's UPS.

This is nothing more than a scam, so what ever you do, DO NOT answer your phones if you see this number.  I've all ready notified my family members about this.

Again if this was truly UPS they'd be calling from an 800 number and not some Utah number.

So why do they need to call a business for a "signature required" package.
I already sign for all of mine anyway.  Never get these calls at home where they just drop off something and leave. It would make sense if that happened.

WTF?  I have already posted the email correspondence with UPS Customer Service (elsewhere) in which they said this number is NOT a UPS number and now the scammer is on this site once again lying that it is.  My hope is that UPS takes legal action against the owner of that number and nails him nine ways to Sunday.

So here we go again.  I am posting on this site what I posted on a couple others just a few days ago.  My question was submitted through the webform on the UPS website; their reply came through email:

What is your question or comment? Do you operate a call center in Salt Lake City (phone number 801-977-7894) that calls people when a package is to be delivered that requires a signature?

Received a call from this number saying we had a package being delivered tomorrow. Do not remember ordering anything. Also they said they would need a cashiers check for $99 available upon receiving the package. Did anyone else get a message saying money would be needed?

The scammer likes to post plausible sounding narratives under a random alias.  Jasmine is yet another one.

Since when does UPS uniformly make robo-calls without leaving a message the first time?  But leaving one the second time?  And since when does UPS make a call for ANY reason except after a delivery attempt that failed because of a bad address?  And when UPS does call, a person is on the line, not a robo-message.

I got a call twice from this number, the first, no message, so I checked here.   The second time, I had an automated message from UPS saying my package from a winery was arriving tomorrow and requires a signature. (They even mention the name of the winery.) I've gotten this message before, but didn't recognize the number.  They need a signature because you have to be 21 to receive wine.

What's the supposed scam?  People keep insisting it's a scam, but what's the scam, since they don't ask you to call back? I could see if they said, call us at this number with your credit card, or something, but they don't even leave a number for you to call back.

These calls are complete scams. All the posts to the contrary are being made by the sleazebag scammer himself to deceive you.

If you receive such a call report it to fraud@ups.com

This is completely legitimate call from UPS informing you that you have a package coming that requires signature.  They are calling you , i am sure, to try to improve the chances that someone will be there to sign.  It is the type of automated call that will not leave a voice message, so it looks like they are crank calling, but as soon as you get the call and then pickup, a recorded message plays from UPS warning you that you have a package coming that requires signature.  It does not ask for personal information or anything

This number is fake I also get calls from another number 551-322-900 If you have ever seen that Acai berry detox ad online and wanted a free trial but then backed out lastminute they will call you over and over and the 551 number is a dead line.. You answer it and they either state your name or just hangup on you.. I reported the 551 to the FCC so im sure the 801 number is more reportable since they are claiming to be ups. I am also waiting for a package and own my own business and use UPS very very frequently This is not the standard for ups. They would most likley send you an email that would get fwd from the company you have purchased a product from. This is getting annoying the number calls my phone 6-8 times daily everyday.. And if AT&T thinks im paying for it they got another thing coming.

Really!! Why would UPS be giving me a courtesy call on a Sunday??? I thought this country is in the midst of an economic meltdown yet UPS can hire a staff to make unnecessary phone calls? Many post offices are about to cease Saturday deliveries (to save money) yet UPS can call people to give them the 'heads up'? What happened to the 'sorry we missed you' notes left on people's doors? This is bull. And like someone mentioned, why would so many people on here, surf the net, to find this site, to give them kudos? Only people WONDERING who may be calling from this number should be on here, not people who have no problem with them. Geeze! This world is comprised of way too many kooks and crooks!

Don't drink the kool-aid.

These are scammers and fraudsters.  If you phone them back you are making a toll call and contributing to their sleazy enterprise.

If you feel you must do something, report them to donotcall.gov.  That won't do any good but you'll feel better and you'll be denying the sleazes the revenue they'd get from your callback.  It may only be small change but it adds up.

And don't buy any phony narrative that "UPS may dial some wrong numbers ... oh but the tracking number is legit and it really is UPS.  See?  It must be so because I was a doubter but I checked and now I believe!"

That's BS trying to convince you that it's UPS.  It ain't.  This is not the only site "Jess" has followed me onto to try to dilute my message.  What's in it for Jess to persuade you to trust that phone number?

Don't be conned.  Don't drink the kool-aid.

Actually... this call IS legit. I just checked the tracking number it gave me, and there are 2 packages coming from Mesquite, TX (there's an Xbox plant there) to a city near by. While I haven't ordered ANYTHING from Xbox, I'm assuming some idiot messed up their phone number by a digit or something, since the mystery packages are being shipped to somewhere within my area code. Surprised this number is legit, based on the differing comments here, but for me it seems to be real.

I got two calls from this number today, one around noon, and one exactly at 6pm. First didn't leave a message, and the second one did. It claimed that I'm receiving something from Xbox... While I am waiting for a package, it's NOT coming from UPS, nor is it coming from Xbox. So I'll agree with the poster above me and say that it's either some kind of scam or maybe even a prank. Not sure why anyone would put out such a random prank, but it sort of makes sense, as they tell you that someone needs to be home from 8am-7pm.

This is definitely not a scam, it is UPS. I missed two calls, but on the second I received an automated voicemail message which confirmed the sender name and tracking number for a delivery I was expecting, correctly stated the delivery date (tomorrow) and advised me that it was a signature-required delivery.

Completely normal stuff here folks, nothing to be scared of.

Got a call from this number AFTER I got my packages this morning. Why would they call after? I did have to sign for them so I guess it is a legit number. But I never got any calls from UPS before so I don't know why they're starting now.

This is a number at UPS which they use to notify you of a delivery which needs a signature.  They seem to have a lot of trouble with it as many calls just are blank if you answer and do not say hello several times.

Received call on May 26th, saying a package would be delivered "today, May 27th".  Tracking number was provided (and I double-checked I had copied it down correctly), but the UPS website claimed the tracking number was invalid and my local UPS store informed me a few days later that they have no record of any package for my address.  No delivery slip was left at my house, either.

Looks like a common tale...suspicious.

We got a call from this number and called it back.  It is UPS.  They indicated that they had a "signature required package" scheduled for delivery today.  We are expecting such a delivery.  When I called back, there was a recorded message that explained the delivery procedure.  The reverse phone lookup indicated that this was a Utah number, but I suspect that it is just a national auto dialer.
