Called about someone in my household requesting info on furthering their education. After telling "him" that no such request was made, I was hung up on. I put "him" in quotes because the voice was slow to respond to anything I said and sounded like a computer. Also, when I picked up, there was a voice claiming that my call would be monitored.

So I just typed in CollegeReferrals.net, which took me to their website. I clicked on the Contact Us link, and the toll-free customer service number 1-800-513-7497 was listed.  I phoned them, and real human female named Alex spoke with me. She had no knowledge of the company that phoned me, that they are using computers masquerading as humans, of their location in South Carolina, or the fact that they were using the name of the company she works for in their telemarketing. She said that the company she worked for, Collegereferrals.net was located in Reno, Nevada.  She said she would put my number on their internal do not call list -- even though my number has been on the national do not call list for many years.  (But of course the national list is pointless and a waste of time, as all of these telephone scammers do not honor it anyway, and also that the FCC has admitted to be in writing that they can do nothing about these phone scammers anyway.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME PUTTING YOUR PHONE NUMNBER ON OUR GOVT'S NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST.

Phone scammers do not honor the list, and our gov't does nothing about them.  I regularly receive many, many telemarketing phone calls.

On 6/30/14 at 10:50 am ET, I received a call from 803-272-7455.  Caller ID said Camden, SC. The "caller" told me I had recently requested information on furthering my education, and was asking me if I wanted more information on furthering my education. I said I had not requested such information, and I was not interested in any. Then the caller re-asked me the same question. The caller was so "smooth", that's when I realized the caller was not a human -- but a computer !  So I asked it if it was human or a computer, and the computer replied, "Do I sound like a computer?". I said "Yes, because you are so smooth."  The computer laughed, and said "Yes, I am a computer!"  And hung up.

I called this number back. And you get a computer that tries its best to pretend it's a human.  If you ask it if it's a computer it'll say "no". Ask it again it'll say" do I sound that bad?" and laugh. But if you ask it something like what's the day of the week it will just hang up on you. Pretty funny actually. It was a continuing education offer, when I called me anyway.

Called me, too.  I'm in California, and I don't know anyone in SC (as far as I know, anyway).  Left no message.

Called me and I answered. A guy on the other end just said umm and I heard a bunch of back ground noise. When I said hello a few times, he hung up on me.
