very little money these guys raise actually goes to the police.  This is a scam.  a few years back they actually called and bullied my elderly frail mother into making her donate.  I have no respect for these people.

If they can call you and use these techniques on you, we have a right to use them back on them but telling you what the techniques are so you can spot them too.

These ethically challenged individuals need to take a look at this story about spoofing caller id numbers. The part they dont understand is in the case of spoofing a phone number in another state to employ a local connection to your local police department is a deceptive practice especially when in combination with a local mail drop to further mislead the public. Hey one wants to give local and you just ask them  this

These people get local numbers for virtually anywhere through websites such as skype. The numbers can even have your same area code and prefix as you. Buying skype numbers when you could just call using your normal local exchange in and of itself is deceptive because they are doing it to imply a local connection. If they were not trying to trick you into thinking they are local to you or from your local police then they would call you from their 727 area code, It is an AUTOMATIC DECEPTIVE ACT and PRACTICE and it is actually taking money away from your real local charities and by default raising their cost to raise funds and making them look less attractive to you the donor.

That is a very dangerous technique because it flouts the Sherman Act and in North Carolina it violates NC GS 75.1, NC GS 14-100 and depending on what they spent the money on, it might even violate NC GS 14.72

In North Carolina all liget groups are being damaged by the money drain that these groups are causing. It shrinks the available pool of money for them to tap in THEIR local areas and ALL have a duty to sue each and every other charity that is causing damage to their donors. Not to mention that some of these groups get government funding to run their program and that being the case THE GOVERNMENT has to dole out more taxpayer money then they would if these groups did not exist.

So they are robbing donors by misrepresenting a local connection

They are robbing every charity that operates legally because they have to compete with fraudulent techniques they legally can not use to attract donations. Because the groups using them are breaking the law.

The people calling you are professional fundraisers no matter what they tell you. The problem is that some of these charities have acquired their own fundraising people, but they acquired them from a pool of "phone pros" that have been highly trained through trial and error over many years in the art of getting into your head and your wallet at the same time.

Its the techniques that need to end. Most of the people calling you are just trying to make a living and do this for 40 hours a week, they have no idea what these techniques are or how effective they are, but we know how effective they are because we invented them, but they were designed to help charities but are being used now to manipulate donors.

Every time we see these techniques being used we are gong to report it and very soon we will have a database of everyone of their phone numbers. They will not be able to hide from us anymore, or from us exposing them to you, the people who want to make a donation and do something good for their community, but these people and stuck themselves between you and the charity.
\
99% of the charities have no idea it is being done to them or are just desperate for cash.

We need everyone of you to help us by leaving detailed complaints on this and other boards under the numbers that call you. Also, search out the other sites that have this number listed. Once the database of numbers they use is complete it will eliminate the type of fraud that badgefraud.org goes after and we will slip to the background to monitor all these fundraisers. Some of these fundraiser will get huge fines for some of the calls that are already being complained about on these boards. One, Community Support that got sued during operation false charity last year, I think gets a 40,000 dollar fine for every violation that is declared fraudulent. They need to realize that the techniques are unusable and illegal, and end their use.

Fundraising over the phone can and is done by the fast majority of charities ethically and legally and these people need to get on board or we are going to drop them either in the poor house or a prison.

Are you ready? Here comes your Eureka moment.

http://www.corporationwiki.com/Texas/Austin/phil-leconte-P4890550.aspx

Its all connected to this California lawsuit that started during "Operation False Charity" they set this up so they could keep raising money with out all that bad press that that is in the name of Police Protective Fund

http://ag.ca.gov/cms_attachments/press/pdfs/n ... ce_officers.pdf

They got sued by so many states that they set up this new scam using all the same stuff, right down to the sales techniques that many states have told them are deceptive. I am an expert in those same techniques.

Paul Kutac and June Mellon were not sued so they are the ones that set it up. They use this boiler room out of Hudson FL

Here is one of their employee's a few weeks ago http://blogs.tampabay.com/bizarre/2010/05/wor ... er-a-tooth.html

There is even a site detailing it here http://pfcl.org/Officer_Down_Foundation.html

That should be all anyone needs, just dont give them any money and call your local police sheriff and local media and tell them someone tried to scam you from this group in the name of Fallen Officers so they can issue a press release so your neighbors dont fall victim to these clowns

There are the same as every other telephone fundraising, they keep the vast majority of the money raised. although technically legal, they are unethical and they use fraudulent techniques to seprate your from your money

Here is a site to help you know the difference between legit and not legit

http://www.pfcl.org/Officer_Down_Foundation.html

Dont forget to call your local police and report the calls so they know someone is trying to scam you and they need to issue a press release so they can protect your neighbors and friends too.

Then call your local media so they can help too

If you are legitimate fundraising organization for some police officers group, where can we find the particulars about your company?  Why do you present SC FOP FNDN as your caller ID?  Are you afraid to post your legal name as registered with the State of SC?  Come out of the shadows, you pack of cowards...what do you fear by presenting the truth?  Why do you prey on the pocketbooks of retirees and widows?  What is your motive in only asking for the "lady of the house"?  Are you afraid of the men?  The irony is...the very people for whom you solicit should be locking you up!

SC FOP FNDN is funded by telemarketing agents.
The promote a nice image, but don't send them any
money. The are NOT the police, but some callers
suggest that they are.  The ARE included in the
do not call lists, but pretend that they are not.
Apologists on this thread want you to give them
money.  Don't do it !  Of the money which they
take from you, a very low percentage goes to
anything which could be conceivable called
" charitable ".  Report their calls, don't give them a cent.,

I've read & heard countless times that although the police themselves do good work, these organizations are about the worst as far as the amount of money donated going towards that work. They've got an astronomically high ratio of the money they gather going to administration of the company doing the calling....*not* the police.

In as much as I live in a neighborhood that consists mostly of law enforcement officers this SCFOP is a SCAM!!!! The police DO NOT get,.. if any...they are luck to get 10% of any funds donated to this so called organization. And what is with them calling at 8 am and 830 am ? Let me guess,...they CAN!! Apparently the before 9 am and the after 9 pm law DOESN'T apply to them. VERY annoying VERY harassing. This WILL be reported to the FCC and BBB and Attorney Generals Office!! These people are down right RUDE!!!

I constantly get hangup calls from an organization called Faternal Order of Police Foundation, even though I have asked them not to call. They use strongarm tatics when they solicit, trying to make people feel guilty for not supporting the police. I have looked this organization up and it has a bad reputation for the way it distrubutes "donations".

I want these calls to stop, and if you can help, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

The SC Fraternal Order of Police Foundation called my phone number at 8:30
am on a holiday morning. Most likely to ask for donations.
I don't appreciate the lack of manners and consideration (NEVER call before 9am weekdays, and 10:00 on Holidays!) Then they don't even leave a message on voice mail. DO NOT call again! I have a stressful job, it was one morning I was able to sleep in and they woke me up...Geez.
That doesn't elicit a generous response; furthermore, I don't care who you are:It's still telemarketing. My taxes pay your salary. You're asking the wrong person for a raise. Be grateful you have a job...and benefits, which most of us today don't have. And please spend more time going ater the violent members of society rather than all the time that's wasted ticketing people for nonsensical, minor infractions.Yes, I know that's where the money is...Maybe I'll feel more generous when I see some improvements. However,  it is wrong to engage in phone solicitation. Same thing goes for the politicians. I wonder how you would react if I called you at home after a long tough night of work, woke you up, and didn't have the decency to identify myself. You officers always want ID, well I do too!
I hope I made myself clear: DO NOT CALL.

They've been calling about every other day, early morning or late at night. Two days ago I tried to answer on the second ring and the call was disconnected. Tonight at 8:25p I answered on the first ring and to your surprise it was Brian. He asked if I was, "Rebecca," I asked how he got my name and number and he went on a speal about how they call all households to which I inturrupted and explained that this was an unlisted cell phone. Needless to say he hung up. By the way, my name isn't on voicemail either! Eery to me. Be careful guys!

Feels like we are being harassed by SC FOP Found/FNDN.  We answered their call weeks ago and told them we did not want to contribute.  Continue to receive calls: 90/24 0748 - 10/01 -0745 - 10/06 0753 - 10/12 0747 - 10/13 0759 - 10/15 0748 - 10/19 0745 - 10/23 0753 (bank of phones).  Wonder if this is a BOGUS SCAM - would never contribute now.  Why doesn't FCC stop this crap - it's all you read about in this and other websites.  Filing a complaint with FCC this week.

Ted, that is no excuse for the repeated harassing phone calls despite repeated requests for removal. Some guy named Brian had the gall to hang up on me tonight - I could even say anything more than "Brian...". Used some hokey line "don't worry, you're not in trouble". Well, he's in trouble. Filed a complaint with the FTC and BBB (links below). Sent a letter to the current President, and called the head of the organization at his house right after I get my late night call (I did, he was very polite and promised to have my number removed). Don't let these guys purporting to represent our tax-payer funded police officers call your house and act in a manner that is unbecoming of any public figure! If you want to raise money, you need to do it in an ethical manner, and that never involves hanging up on someone who hasn't said anything yet. I actually have contributed in the past, but right now money is tight, and I'm not going to take food off my table for a charity - sorry, but that is how it works, and you should respect that. I already fund the police through taxes, so if you're going to ask me to donate more, you need to be polite and treat me and my family with respect. I hope the actual police that represent our area don't behave the way your telemarketers do.
