Received two calls, a week apart, First one was two females saying they were from Microsoft windows, i asked them to call back and arranged a time - they didn't call. The second call was a guy (Eastern origin? again) saying he was from Login at Speed - as above - virus in the area, wanted me to type in event viewer on PC, I kept asking questions and he hung up. They are determined and probably very dangerous. Please pass the word around. cheers

Received call today ( May 2011) from above number, and script same as above. Yes it is a scam, and possibly emanates from Kolkata, and is well documented on Google (view:  Kolkata computer scam).  Just tell them that you do not have a computer, and hang up.  I have received numerous calls regarding same subject, initially ask them where they got your telephone number from and that you are recording the conversation. My callers, in the main, sound to be of eastern origin.

My sister received a call from a man who said there were problems in her area at Welwyn Garden City and managed with my sister's help to access her computer remotely. He was on the phone to her for nearly 2 hours and told her that nasty things were happening on her computer. She is new to computers and pretty naive as she is a pensioner and is still taking lessons. When she said that she had to terminate the call he told her to leave the PC on and he would sort it out but it would cost her £45.. She then realised how stupid she had been and told him there was no way she could afford that sort of money and that she would contact the police if she received any further calls. These people are truly  despicable and should be brought to justice

Rec'd call at 10.40 am today, 11/04/2011. He did not hesitate to give his 'contact number' and agreed that he had made a cold call and that he was hoping to sell me a service that will 'speed up my PC'. I told him I would pass on his details to the local Trading Standards officials and the police as a precaution and he terminated the call rather abruptly, I thought!.

Login at speed. I got a call from Aran Walter, from a Company called Login at Speed.
They are allegedly based at 124 Baker Street London.

He called and told me there is a virus in my area, no actually in my Village near Colchester affecting computers locally, and if I would log in he could talk me through what I needed to do to put it right.

My computer is infected and I must deal with it immediately to stop it spreading, even if I have a firewall and virus protection.

Don’t take any notice this d*** head is a scammer. You cannot have a virus that only affects 1 square mile near where you live.

I told him I would call him back and he gave me the number, his name and address. Don’t take any notice however plausible it may sound, my computer was on but I told him it was off, he doesn’t know. All he wants to do is access your data and clear your bank account,  or take a payment for nothing .

Not a bad days work take a few card details sell you nothing . Clear your account .

By the way Harry isnt my real name. It isnt what I called him either.
