No, not paranoid ... but VERY suspicious!
Barrett 2012-10-24 23:23:58 Telemarketer
They claim to be Obama for America--but they are just scam artists. They asked me for a "small" donation of $500 and they said that Obama would lose the election if I didn't donate. They called me several times a day w/ no one on the other line and when I finally picked it up w/ someone on the other line, the guy was very rude. He claimed he had my Visa and Mastercard on hand but then he wanted me to verify the information w/ all of the numbers, security code, and expiration date. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!

This actually is Obama for America. The number is one of many used by Harris Direct which handles OFA. Here is a list of their customers...

OFA is a special group set up as a not-for-profit to harass supporters of President Obama and is exempt from the rules on FCC do not call list.

Yep, paranoia. I was talking to everyone in general on here. This really is your good old president trying to get money from you.

Google Harris Direct - You will get all the information you need
Maggie 2012-08-11 16:00:19 Unknown
How am I paranoid? Who are you anyway? Why do you confront me here? I have never had dealings with you so I can only assume you are working for the opposition!
Proud Republican 2012-08-11 15:58:22 Unknown
A little paranoid aren't you
Maggie 2012-08-06 17:42:55 Unknown
This is NOT Obama For America 's number. It may be coming the opposition

"Obama For America" - no message - suspect it's not related to Obama at all

They are phishing for information. Will be reporting them to tie FTC and the Federal
OIC Online Internet Commission.
BEST THING TO DO IS GO TO SPOKEO.COM and put a warning there!!!!!!!!!!!!
If someone calls from an UNKNOWN number....THEY ARE NOT LEGITIMATE
If you think your Social Security number has been comprised......

This is from a fraudulent organization, essentially phishing by pretending to be Obama for America. It stinks of dirty tricks, something that should have gone away after the Nixon era. However, the GOP today seems, if anything, more unethical than during the Nixon era. I wish there was a way to prosecute or sue these people. If anyone wants to form a class action, I'm willing to join.
Tammy 2011-11-22 20:30:53 Unknown
How do you know it's Obama For America?? Seems like a fraud attempt to me. It's completely automated, and they ask you to leave your number if you want to be on DO NOT CALL list. I didn't leave my number. How do we really report this??
Ola 2011-11-16 22:47:41 Unknown
Just found out this number is fraudulent, pretending to be from Obama for America but it really isn't just hang up or do not answer, if you want to donate to Obama there is a legitimate website. Republicans are dirtier than pigs, what would they not do to destroy the best thing that has happened to America, because he is stopping all their illegal ways of getting richer.
Deb 2011-09-23 19:08:56 Unknown
Asked for me by name using a spelling I don't use on anything, so I doubt they are legitimately calling me. They didn't immediately offer who they were calling on behalf of, so I asked to be removed from their call list. Call back goes to Harris Direct who say they call for non-profit causes. Asked to be removed there, too. Meantime blocking with a cool little software program that will answer with a "I don't take telemarketing calls" message (better than paying the phone co for the service!)

This is a trick! This group has been hired to irritate and turn Obama supporters off. When you donate funds to a political campaign, it is public information. They pull that data, call repeatedly and never leave messages. They want to talk to you long enough to either irritate you or accept money for the Republican party.
Be careful. Some Republicans are extremely unethical!

Hey sickofit - if you're still checking this site...how do you know it's OFA? No one ever speaks when I answer these calls and when I call back, I always get a recording that says ?HARRIS DIRECT? is trying to reach me and some crap about caller ID. To the others on this site, did the caller actually identifying him-/herself as an OFA representative or are you assuming SickofIt is right? I?m just curious.
I think it's highly unlikely that a LEGITIMATE fundraising organization for the President of the United States is using a broken auto-dial machine based in the offices of Harris Direct with an 818 area code to raise money. Have you ever heard of the ?robo-calls? that come right around election time? The robot on the other end of the line usually spews some trash about the opposing party in the race. Something tells me these calls are coming from a broken robo-caller.
AT&T generously offered to take $5 more from me each month to block this one caller. (fyi, ?generously? = sarcasm) After 10+ years of service and on-time bill paying, they?re really stepping up to help their good customers. (yeah, more sarcasm)
Last time I called Harris Direct, I listened to their voice mail message and at the end, it tells you to leave your phone number if you want to be removed from this list. Since I can?t get help from AT&T, I left my number. Can?t hurt ? they?re already calling me daily.

So glad I found this, Yes I get this same call 4 times a day--most times no one is even on the line. I donated money TWICE now to Obama for election and re-election and now they call me everyday looking for more money--REALLY?
Nathan 2011-08-05 22:38:11 Unknown
This number has called me three times today, and several other times earlier this week. When I tried to answer it one time, I got the dreaded delay making it clear it was a telemarketer, so I hung up.
Mark 2011-08-03 19:48:52 Unknown
I have received a few calls from this number over the past several days. Thanks to Caller ID I never take a call from a number I don't recognize. Not likely to be a philanthropist considering me his or her cause of the day. If it's important they'll leave a message. No message has been left from this number.
My guess is, if they are rude in a political call, then it is likely not originating from the organization the caller claims it to be. Only a fool would call a potential voter and deliberately p*** them off. Politicians may be fools about a lot of things but behavior when trying to get elected is generally not one of them.

Have received about six calls from this number - leaves no message, and won't say anything when I answer the phone.

OFA, keeps calling, several times a day, over the last two weeks or so, to the evening. Never leaves a message.
Mark 2011-06-06 20:59:58 Unknown
Called twice this afternoon and left blank messages on the answering machine.
Deborah White 2011-06-06 20:59:58 Unknown
Had two calls from this number today and several a few days ago. No one ever says anything on the other end. This really pisses me off as we are on a NO CALL LIST.
Urbana Brian 2011-06-06 20:59:58 Unknown
Whenever I get call that purport to be from a candidate or cause, I always wonder, "Is that really who's generating these calls . . . or is it [the cause's/candidate's] enemies, trying to generate ill will???"
The whole damn thing is a hall of mirrors.
sickofit 2011-06-06 20:59:58 Unknown
OFA - Obama for America. They call multiple times a day. Most of the time no one is on the other end of the line - an abandoned call. I finally talked to someone and told them to take my name and number off their list. He was incredibly rude and basically said that if I gave them $500 they would stop calling. Hmmm. I reported them to the FCC.
Wordbear 2011-06-06 20:59:58 Unknown
called twice in the last three hours.
