Scammers do not care if you do as you said and file Ch. 13 or Ch. 7. Many people who did that for legit reasons still get those types of scam calls and all they do is change numbers and keep doing the same thing over and over until they get someone to fleece out of money.

Why mess up your credit rating by declaring bankruptcy? Unless written documentation is mailed or served, there is no claim. You are correct - this is fraud on the part of a collector.

Yes, that is good advice.
Filing bankruptcy is not a good option, particularly if the claims made by the scammer are false.
If somebody REALLY had "fraud cases" against you, you would have been served appropriate legal paperwork via snailmail or in person.
Suggest you either ignore those calls, or block them from your home phone.
Tell your boss the calls are fraudulent, and that you have reported them to Law Enforcement.
You may have been subjected to scam #9 or scam #25
More information about those scams (and others) is at

That site also shows how other 800notes visitors have reduced the number of telephone scams and telemarketing calls they receive. (And, a link to Amazon's phone blocker devices and apps is there).

you don't need to file 7 or 13. these people are crooks. block their number(s), file a complaint with the ftc etc, demand a debt validation letter...just don't do what Den said to do... overkill

These guys are a bunch of crap folks. File Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 and tell them to go stick it up their butts. They threaten you with this fraud BS. Pay no attention. They should be arrested for telephone harassment.

I have been receiving calls from this number since January, they have called my son and are now calling my place of employment. They tell people that I have 2 cases of fraud against me plus writing bad checks. They don't want to embarrass me by coming to my employment to serve me but want to me met then some place. I have been advised no to return the calls but to file a police report for phone harassment.
