I received a call stating that same exact thing you all have mentioned. They said I had 24 hours to call back or else.... I called the next day as turns out it wasn't even for me it was about my grandmother. How they got my phone number, I have no idea. I'm assuming they must have a skip-tracing tool to get my information as well as other family members. They certainly did their homework because they claimed to have my grandmas account information and tried verifying her information by phone. They said they were taking her to court. She is 85 years old, is this a joke? Turns out they have also called my sister and mother stating the same message. When I called the number left in the vm, the company they stated to be was Kayman and Associates. But not once did they mentioned the original company where this supposed debt is coming from. I strongly suggest if you call back do not offer any information from your behalf. They are the ones calling and should be able to give you all details before you even consider cooperating. Also, ask for their location and company information so you can request a validation of debt. According to the Fair Debt Collections Act they have 30 days to respond with a thorough validation otherwise they will need the apparent debt off your credit.. In the validation it should include the intial application,signed-showing proof of permissible reason to have your credit ran, copy of the contract and copy of the payment ledger. Never offer your information voluntary. They contacted you not the other way around so get informed before accepting any settlement or payment arrangement. Also, last I heard you don't get a warning call before you get subpoenaed, otherwise what's the point? This is ridiculous. I hope this helps in deterring someone from being fooled by this made up company.

Received a message from a woman indicating that documents were being processed against me.  The caller also stated that if I don't respond within 24 hours, documents will be delivered to my place of employment.

Know your rights when you get these calls:

Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
If you are struggling with delinquent debt, you should become familiar with the protections that you are entitled to under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act of 1977 (FDCPA). The FDCPA outlines the rights of consumers when dealing with third party debt collectors. This federal law spells out what collectors can and cannot do when they are trying to collect a bad debt. The FDCPA prohibits debt collectors from being abusive and threatening. The law also dictates the hours that debt collectors can attempt to contact you. Violations of the FDCPA are handled by the Federal Trade Commission.

I just got the same exact call as everyone else.  Threatening if I didn't call back in 24 hours that I wouldn't have a chance to clear things up.  They came through as a 0000000 number.  But when I called the number back I blocked my phone number and when they answered they asked me my name and I asked them theirs and then they called me by my name (even though I didn't give it to them and I had blocked my number).  They proceeded to ask me for my SSN and I didn't give to them and then the lady said "I know it anyway".  Then she asked me my birthday and once again I refused to give out personal information because I didn't know who they were.  I then told her I had googled their phone number and it came up here where the forum has said exactly what I was experiencing and it was a harassing sham.  She said she was aware of all the feedback.  She said they had that info too.  Then she asked me to verify my address so they could serve me with papers.  I refused that too telling her I felt it was a scam and didn't feel comfortable giving the information.  She then transferred me to an "attorney" and when he started asking me the same information and said that it was a civil matter and that I owed a debt to a company I didn't owe a debt to but that he could help get it reduced.  I then asked for a copy of the "signed" contract he said he had in front of him.  He then referred me to another company - the company who referred my curious debt to him for service.  I called the other service and got a recording saying they were experiencing a high volume of calls and to leave a message.  I left a message and then waited and called back again and got the same message.  Waiting now to see who or if someone calls me back within the 24hr threat period.  There are no records because there is no debt.

Called a relative 10 times in  a  row.  I called them back. Same story, threatening to serve papers on a debt they claim I incurred. I asked for proof which they told me they did not have time to provide (violation of the FDCA) and did not like the fact I called them out.  They really got upset when I told them the debt is time barred according to the statute of limitations for my state.

They really got upset when I told them the following : "Attorneys Fees and Other Remedies

There are federal and state laws that protect consumers from unscrupulous debt collectors and attorneys who sue on time barred debt. If these laws are violated, you may be entitled to compensation, including your actual damages, statutory damages of up to $1,000 per violation, and attorneys fees and costs."

Know your rights.

Got a call today to from some lady that are documents at a clerks office for me to review and she gave me a different number. Called that number and some guy told me that i was about to be sued and that i can stop the process if i made payments over the phone. Did not tell me who he was or what company he was from just that I needed to handle now. I told him i wasnt comfortable with paying anything over the phone can he send me the info in the mail. He told me no i didnt have time. Then told me i had a history of opening bank accounts and not paying. I told him off and told him and his company to not call my phone anymore. Someone else called back five minutes later and told me dont worry about it i'll see you in court, Im going to file reports on these people.

A Ms. Martin called from this phone number and said that there are documents at the clerk's office for me. They need to verify some information. If they do not hear from me within 24 hours, they will send the documents to the address that they have listed for me.
We'll see.

I received a call for the second time in regards to legal documents and if I didn't respond in 24 hrs, papers would be delivered to my physical address, which they listed.  I returned the call and got an operator and I asked which extension she was transferring me to, and she said KMS, and said she only answered calls and I would be transferred.  I never got a person, just a voicemail, and left my name and docket number ( which was really in reference to my Father ) and said to not call me back.
