Received a call today from Maria Curry a legal advisor- from Highlake Flesher and Assoc.
Said she had an affidavit of complaint and that everything was associated with my name and social security number.  I have no idea what she is talking about - but asked me to call back in a timely manner before she is required to close the file.  This sounds similar to what is mentioned in previous posts.

Woman called asking for my son saying there is a civil.suit.against him. When I asked her what the suit was about, she said it was a Federal matter. When I refused to give my son's number, she said that she would see him in court. Very bizarre.

Debt Collector
Oh boy, this scam ghost debt collector is at it again.  First they called from 888-484-9495 as Matthews Middleton Assoc.  Then again from  844-788-8783.  (look those numbers up here).  They are out of New York, a state notorious for scam debt collectors.

I know for a fact (2 letters) that the debt they called me about was paid off in 2008.  I have proof.  And the original debtor knows nothing about me now.  So it's a ghost debt (google it) on some spreadsheet this scammer buys for pennies on the dollar, hoping for a stupid victim.

The a-hole that you get when you call back, has been known to call himself a lawyer, and ALSO (with other callers) a government employee. When I talked to this guy, I knew my rights with the debt collection law.  He REFUSED to send me written proof that that I owed this so-called debt.  And he REFUSED to give me his address.  These are things a legit debt collector  with legit debts in their portfolio would have no problem doing.  If they really want to sue you, they have to prove you owe the debt.  They can't get it.

DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE BACK!  When enough complaints pile up for THIS phone number, they will change name and number AGAIN (it's easy to get a 1-800 number).

Debt Collector
Message as I remember it: This is Julie Hammond. You were given earlier notice that further action will be taken to resolve issues with our office. You have ignored our request to respond within the time clearly specified. Therefore if you are not able to provide written proof that this matter has been taken care of within 72 hrs, immediate action be taken. We are able to show proof of attempts to resolve this on a voluntary basis. These actions taken would be in accordance with state and federal laws. Please contact our office immediately at 844-383-8828. Also understand that this is our final attempt to resolve this voluntary basis.
Haven't a clue what she might be talking about. Never rec'd any notice, nor been given any "clearly specified time". (Have rec'd hang-up calls but don't know whether they're related.). Not going to call back, but if, by chance, I do find out who these untermenchen are, I'm thinking of taking action of my own such as calling our (excellent) local policeman who is our advocate for the elderly, or filing a lawsuit of my own: wirefraud, lawsuit threats without an attorney having confirmed that a debt is valid.  Might be fun to make them pay a lawyer to my district court and then get some money out of them!

i do understand that she is calling. But everyone here seems to want to lie about what her message really says. If you did pay attention to the  other notes posted, you would actually see the EXACT message being left! If you're gonna lie, then do it for a good reason. There are no threats AT ALL in that message and we all know that. lies always seem to come back to bite ya!!!! i'm in debt just as you all are. But i'm not taking your sides on this one!!!!
