Call the number back...automated system that gives you an option to remove yourself from their internal do not call list (not to be confused with federal/state do not call).

This number keeps calling my home late at night and the one time I answered, a man told me he was "doing a survey" and wanted to know if I had "any children under the age of 17 in my home". I quickly told him no and he hung up. Calls keep coming in. I've blocked the number and reported it, as well.

Dear ScamBuster ,
Put the blame where it really lay's, with the criminals and illegal telemarketers.
The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not. However, the Fed. DNC does not cover some survey's, Political or Charities. You would need to check your states DNC laws to see if these are under your states DNC laws. The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Call came in as "Toll Free"...added to blocked callers list...done...piece of cake.
Furthermore......
Some of you people just do not get it! The DNC DOES-NOT-WORK for 99% of these scam calls!!! And for the few it MIGHT work for, look at all the hoops (read website links) some people have posted on here you have to jump through.
Is that how you want to spend your life, trying to stop scammers, politicians, and telemarketers who robo-call the nation, insult you when you ask them to stop calling, or disconnect when you answer because, just BY answering you gave them information.....a live person is at this number. And that goes double for calling them back...WHY would you want to do that?
In essence, what you're dealing with is the same as junk mail delivered to your home on a daily basis; you didn't ask for it, your don't want it, and there is NOTHING you can do to stop it! Don't believe me? Go to your local post office and tell them you want all, "car-rt sort", "presorted", or "current resident", junk mail stopped from cluttering up your mailbox.
The bottom line is this.....other than not owning a phone, there is NOTHING you can do except get a model that blocks calls, or, if you have Caller ID, ignore calls from anyone you don't know.
You need to get used to the fact you live in an age of technology that is expanding by the minute and this is but one of the side dishes you must savor so you can spend hour upon hour "texting" people while driving around town, seeking more "friends" on Facebook, or "twittering" your opinion on what the Kardashians are up to.
It is the way of the world boys and girls so you better get used to it cuz it ain't going away anytime soon.

When I answered the caller asked for a specific person. I repeated the name (wrong but similar, on purpose). He asked again and I replied with there is no one here by that name and gave them a fake name. He said they wanted to talk to this person for a survey but he would remove the number from there database. He was actually very polite.

Make that 5 days in a row, and twice on the 5th day 3 hours apart. I finally answered. It is supposedly a survey company in California and the gal really did ask me questions regarding the traffic and public transit in my area. I didn't give her any personal information, although one of the first questions was whether the number she reached me on was a landline or a cell phone (lol, like I'm going to tell her THAT!). I endured about 20 minutes of questions that were relevant to where I live and told her more than once that I am tired of my phone ringing from this number and I want to make sure she was going to remove me from their list. She assured me she would, but I guess time will tell.
Karen 2014-06-13 02:38:35 Unknown
Make that 4 days in a row now. They called again tonight at 7:27pm. My phone service only allows me to block 12 numbers and they make it a huge pain to change them, so I guess I will just endure this harrassment. But I am tired of this.
Karen 2014-06-12 03:43:35 Unknown
These people will not stop calling me. They have called every day for the past 3 days, and this time they called at 8:40pm. WTF is that all about? We work and my kids go to school in the morning! A***oles! Rang 4 times, my voicemail picked up, and no message left. At what point do they stop this harrassment?
frustrated 2014-06-08 19:17:32 Unknown
For the past 2 weeks they call 2-3 times a night - we don't even answer and they still keep calling

political survey. Asked to speak to the youngest black male voter in the household. I told here there were no blacks in my household she did not know how to handle that. I told her I was the only male voter in the house hold. The questions then started lining up for Obama supporters. The questions were for those running on the democratic ticket. I stopped her about the 3rd one in and said we were done.

Called and collected information related to political candidates. After 15 min. of questions, I refused to answer more and told her I was finished. "Supervisor" called me back and begged me to finish the survey. It was obnoxious.

Survey's do not fall under the DNC laws as a rule. The only time they do is if they attempt to sell a product at the end of their short survey to you. However, they, along with Charities, can still get into trouble if they do not place you on their internal DNC list when requested. You should also check your states DNC laws to see if they are permitted under those laws or not. The federal DNC only covers telemarketers.
