The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Please check with legal aid in your state - you should have been given 30 days to respond in written form - that is the law.  You may also want to call the court system to see if this is a real "pending" case number and case as I did - it was not.  These people say they are attys -they are collectors.

Several POSTS about same company online.  Please read those and be careful about who you give "payment" info to....this is a debt collector NOT THE DA.  Just search this number and read all posts.  To summarize: you have the right to have a copy of the "supposed debt" in written form mailed to you and you have the right to respond to that written copy - if legitimate - within 30 days after they send you a copy...this is the law.  With all the scams, never make "payment" arrangements, always ask for a written copy and tell them you have consulted with legal aid and you know you have 30 days to respond.  Be careful and good luck.

It is a debt collector.  They will tell you that they have a case with the DA, etc etc.  Well, I called Riverside DA and there is no case number  pending as "they" claim- DA says to call FREE legal aid for advice.  You have the right to request that whatever "debt" they say you owe be sent to you IN WRITING and then you have 30 days in which to respond to that debt.  That is the CA law...these are debt collectors. Maybe....how do we know who they are with all the scams going on? Always request that they MAIL you the proof of that debt in writing and TELL then you have consulted with legal experts and know you have 30 days to respond IN WRITING to that debt.  Don't ever "pay" over the phone, etc....For all any of us know, this could be Charlie Brown and Snoopy calling and getting all these supposed payment arrangements with "your" credit or debit card and making tons of money.  You don't know.

I am not sure if this is a law firm or a filing party for collections but I was recently served court appearance papers for court in Gosper County NE. I called the court house and I actually have a case in the beginning week of June. After I was served I tried calling them back because I didnt believe them when I first talked to them. Since it was already filed I couldn't pay what i owed. Does anyone know how I can settle this before June???

I received a call from a female at Levy, Brown and Keller saying the message was for R. Garcia and that it was extremely urgent that he or his atty. call them right away at 844-788-0789 ext. 507. I promptly called back and told them that they had better dial the right number before they give me too much info about their client and violate Mr. Garcia's privacy. I feared then  that I had dialed into one of those wireless scams and I was glad that I found this blog. Has anyone found my theory to be true? I think this was either a debt collector or a legal firm.

I received a call just about ALL OF THIS WEEK from these exact same people!! Three days this week a man named "Jack Davis" called from this Levy, Brown and Keller both my work, home and cell phone numbers stating that he had some papers ready to be served to San Diego about me. Yesterday he called with the same pitch stating that his call would be my "final notification"- well apparently not!!! Today I get a call from yes, the exact same number but a DIFFERENT MAN!! His so-called name was "Alan Goldstein" and he said that he had some papers ready to be served for charges and blah blah blah!! It's funny that the calls from this Jack Davis left an extension of 539 whereas the one call today from this Alan Goldstein didn't. I wonder if Alan Goldstein is on his 90-day probationary period with the telemarketing company and can';t obtain an extension until he successfully completes his probation?-lol!!!!

I received a call from this same company saying a owe a payday loan to a total lending company that i don't anything about..can anyone tell me if the same thing happened

I got a call from this number today, at my grandmother in laws. We havent lived at that address for 5 years. After reading all the other complaints about this number, I know it has to be a scam. They asked for me by my nickname, if it was official they would use my full legal name. They told her it was Investigator Adams with the Sussex County Courts (Delaware). They gave a case number and this phone number. Why would they call trying to get ahold of me saying they are from the Courthouse and calling other people saying they are levy, brown and keller? Scam? I assume so.

Msg said they're from Levy Brown and Kellee and they're coming tomorrow to serve me with papers

I got a call from a Mark Sloan who said he was with Levy, Brown and Keller - its a debt collector but I know nothing more

someone just called for my grand daughter did you find out any information they used the same companies name levy brown & keller

Received call from a girl named Amy Price. Said they had been hired, Levy, Brown and Keller to collect a payday loan which I haven't a clue about. She said the loan was for $1070 but they would settle for $550. I'm filing a police report ASAP .
