I didn't give them my name I just made up a name and the guy begin telling me information about me but to someone else....I told him why are u telling someone else infomation to someone else? Crazy! I've been fooled in the pass from guys like this and ended up loosing thounsand of dollars. It will not happen again to me! The guy I spoke with name is Roy Nelson.

This is a phishing attempt to get you to give up your credit card number! Don't fall for it and refer the number to the FBI.

My 18 year old son received the Chase message on his cell phone. He does not have a Chase account. It is a scam.
kuntrymarilyn 2011-06-06 21:00:12 Unknown
No it is not legit...they want you to give them your ss# or credit card number so don't call it back and breach your info. They pose as Chase Bank. The legit Chase # is 24273.
Aaron 2011-06-06 21:00:12 Unknown
Is it a legit?
jesse 2010-09-03 03:33:24 Unknown
I got a text message from(845)943-5620 as an alert about a JPMorgan-card, I do not own a JPMorgan card and this number is not one of the JPMorgan-Chase phone numbers. I call the number and it was an automated service wanting me to put in my card info and three other security answers. I did not, it's a SCAM!

i hate spam 2010-08-06 04:12:45 Unknown
What makes this so sad is that I just got my cell phone number.....TODAY !! and within the first 5 hours I had received a text from this phone number.
I really, really HATE SPAM: junk e-mail, pop-up screens (that an anti-virus can not stop) to fake text messages !!
Not only is it illegal but it is AN INVASION OF OUR PRIVACY !!
If you can not afford your lifestyle, then get a job or a better one.

I posted before but failed to mention that, yes, I am on T-Mobile. I live in Los Angeles but have an Atlanta (404) number. I did not download any wallpaper apps. I have not received this message in several days now (I got it twice with two different #s). I have not tried the "stop quit cancel" reply, but I will if it happens again.
Cakerat 2010-08-05 13:23:12 Unknown
Oh, I am also a T-Mobile customer.
Cakerat 2010-08-05 13:21:27 Unknown
I called it back, after receiving the texts, but I did not call from my cell phone (I was afraid they were trying to spam my cell number). I called from work and got the out of service recording.
Dee 2010-08-05 04:22:28 Unknown
I got the same message twice. F' ers are lazy and need to get to work. I called and put the wrong info and @ the end it said that my card was activated. Funny thing is that my card has been activated for over 1 yr. A holes.
atlcreditguru 2010-08-05 03:55:00 Unknown
I received two of these with two different numbers: 845-445-6564 and 818-864-3253.
The interesting thing is it says to call "for free" but of course these are not toll-free numbers!
They must think that people see an area code beginning with "8" on their cell and don't know the difference. Be careful everyone
jaynoah 2010-08-05 01:57:36 Unknown
I tried calling this number just to see who the bloomin scammer was & what the gimick was. Got "this number is not in service". Also 818-864-3253 from the same caller. On this the answer was "this number cannot be reached as dialed". Have filed complaint with the FCC.
Jshine 2010-08-05 01:20:05 Unknown
P.S.
*Also, I forgot to mention:
I noticed some people talked about receiving this text message after downloading some wallpaper or app.
I, myself have not downloaded anything to my phone; and I have never even browsed the mobile-web on my phone.
So I would believe that the "wallpaper" or "app" is irrelevant to this issue.
Thanks again,
-Jshine

Hey guys,
I'm glad to see that posting this number seemed to help some people.
I read every reply to this so far, and I'm just replying with some updates.
It appears the majority of people who have replied here, received this scam text message on a phone using the T-Mobile carrier. I, myself am also on T-Mobile and have received the message only on T-Mobile. Also a lot of people are reporting they are from NY. As well, I am also from NY.
It is my belief (though this is only belief and nothing further) that someone must have compromised one of T-Mobile's lists of phone numbers, and that would explain why a lot of people from NY are getting this scam text message (though I noticed it's not just NY exclusive).
I'm sure their lists are organized by some keyword such as the area code. To narrow it down even further, I'm from Long Island, NY; and am wondering how many other people who reported being from NY also are from Long Island.
Though, I would like to encourage anyone else who have received this scam text message (if they don't mind) to also reply with their cell phone service provider (carrier) to help create a general consensus. I'm interested if it is solely T-Mobile customers receiving this.
Also, anyone else who has received a similar text message scam is welcome to discuss it here, and may feel free to provide their carrier as well. (Though if it was from a different phone number please also create a new page for that phone number, so when people Google it; they may find it on this website).
Thank You,
-Jshine

Got this message 3 times on all for of my t-mobile phones. People should post what carrier they have because I'm pretty sure it's a t-mobile thing only. I just got one of the phones and haven't given the number out to anyone yet.
Webdiva 2010-08-04 22:04:45 Unknown
I am a T-Mobile customer as well - but have a company account with a govt' contractor that watches for SPAM. However, it got past them & I got this text on August 4:
845-445-6564@chase.com / / You have received a new JPMorgan Chase banking message. Call now free: 1-845-445-6564 and follow instructions.
Well, being the suspicious type I am, I immediately Googled and found this site! This is defineitly a scam and I would never give my personal details to anyone anyway. I did call the number listed in the text from an anoymous landline, and found this partuicular number to be disconnected. Hopefully that is a sign these f****rs are on their way to being busted soon. Lets sick the Feds on them!!!!

It sure is nice to know our elected politicans both past and present, are taking such good care of us. It should be simple matter to block these and other scams. If we did not know better you would think our elected officials, big business and super rich are profiting from them. Duwayne

I got this text message. I also got one with the number 818-864-3253. Same story. I called the number & got an automated (English accent) voice asking for my credit card number. That was the end of that call. My wife suggested I call Chase (I do have a card with them) at a number I would get elsewhere to confirm they had no real issue with me. Instead I put in the number here.
Most of the time these companies can confirm your identity with the last four digits of your SSN, which I don't believe gives out too much information.

2 times got texts on my safelink phone, dang, didn't see a place to block such calls
Charly 2010-08-04 18:24:28 Unknown
Hi everyone.
Same story here too. As I'm constantly roaming international, it is annoying to receive these messages. Reading you all, it seems this is a 'genuine' scam in the making!!!!
I noticed that some of you are on T-Mobile, which is also my case.
I read about the new apps downloading a wallpaper. I never did that. I take my own pictures.
I have several lines in my account. I carry two lines at all times. I received SMS text msg on one line only.
Two messages came as follows:
from message 3574
806-686-0806@chase.com / / You have received a new JPMorgan Chase banking message. Call now
free: 1-806-686-0806 and follow instructions.
a half an hour before, I received the same call from a different number 845-445-6564 with exactly the same text, which raised my eyebrows even further the second time. I gave it some credibility the first time as I'm a Chase customer.
Wish you well and may you never fall for cheap scams
