Everyone, add the number 646-253-7436 to the list from these same exact people.  One of my employees was being harassed by them as well and I am seriously thinking of getting our security team into investigating it since the phone call came to our company (big mistake on their part).

First off I want to say they are contacting me too. I know it’s a major annusance and pretty damn scary when you get their first call. They are verbally abusive  and very unwilling to give you any “hard facts” of their law suit. I first heard from these people on Tuesday May 11th. They continued to contact me 4 times that day. All different people, All south asian or pakastani, and ALL from 845-523-1053. After the first call I quickly went into defesive mode got onto google and googled the number trying to find out some kind of information about this so called “federal Investigations” people calling me.  I also imidately went onto the credit burrau websites and requested that they put a fraud alert on my credit report since these people have my personal information. After I received 3 more very abusive calls and spent the day trying desprately to google these people my instincts took control and I went ahead and reported these people to the FTC. Apparently according to the ftc people this is a scam that this “federal investigators” is running. If you’ve applied or in my case simply inquired about a payday loan on the website they start to call you harrassing you stating that YOU owe their client; in my case the supposed client was “cash advance” and that you can either settle it with them or you can settle it in court and have to pay thousands. I’ve spoken to a “amy” , a “ronnie”, a “scott” all of which requested that I send them my debit card and my pin over fax to them so they could automatically withdrawl a little over 400 dollars from my account. All these people are trying to do is scare you and I understand if you are scared I was too. The easiest things I can suggest  that you do is the following

1.    Contact the 3 credit reporting agencys. Experian, Transunion and Equafax. Let them know that you are a possible victem of identiy theft and a victem of fraud. Also Equally important Contact your bank letting them know to close your account imediately that you are a victem of fraud.

2.    Contact your FTC  give them as much information as you can about the phone call, name, number times they called and what was said. IF they asked you for monies give them the ammount they asked you for as well
3.    Call your Phone company and request that they block the number these people are calling from. If you have a cell phone you can always request that you get a new phone number. By being a victem of fraud they will give you one for free
4.    If they are threatining you to where you feel your life is in danger or if you’ve already sent them money go to the police and file a police report .

got call from "Kevin" caller id said OUT OF AREA... fOR my son to call at 214-447-7577> said it was FID Federal Investigating Dept - calling on a cash advance not paid back.  I KNOW my son has not done this because he was Not in a position at this time to do anything like this. he is in circumstances that would have made this IMPOSSIBLE. how did they get his name and # ? probably from some other source, like those name/address marketing places that sell customer info. this guy Kevin had a really thick accent, like maybe middle eastern/India.
How do I report a call like this. My son comes by and stays her sometimes but does nto live here.
Does anyone know if this company is real ??  I searched on whitepages.com and it came up Unpublished.
What kind of a company has an Unpublished number???

I was so scared! these people have my personal information. I was in defensive mode when they started calling me. I never even took out a loan I simply inquired about it. I never confirmed anything with the pin they sent me therefore nothing was ever deposited into my account from advance cash or cash advance. It scares me that they have all of my information. I also filed a report with the fbi which was by advice of the ftc after i informed them of the email i finally got these people to send me along with calls from an international number possibly skype after i blocked the original numbers they were calling from. I'm just blessed i didnt put down my work phone or anything. I even made up refrences. It was a stupid project for school to see how easy it was for people to obtain money without funds to pay it back. I changed my number calling att and teh phone number is unlisted. Ive called the credit buraus and had them attach a fraud allert to my credit file. What more can i do though? Any Advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Debt Collector
I received the below message regarding this scam for a payday loan consolidation company and want to share with anyone interested....
************************************************************************************
Unfortunately, a scam related to payday lending has emerged in the past few months.  This is not merely lenders overcharging for their product.  Instead information obtained about payday loan customers for collection purposes is being used to ROB people.

The Players:

United Pay (4494 Southside Ave., Apt. 203, Jacksonville, FL 32216-5484) or ?TUPS? is the focal point of the collection process.  The company is owned by Piyush and Shreya Patel who use the Jacksonville address as their home address.  However, the collectors all work for a subcontracted call center in Ahderabad, India, call Innovations Infocom.   The call centers are connected through VOIP technology that (a) causes a U.S. phone number to appear in their victims? caller ID?s and (b) allows them to leave U.S. call-back numbers (including toll-free numbers) that automatically forward to India.  Payments made go to a Western Union account in Florida which we believe is controlled by the Patels or through other methods, i.e., credit card processing, which we believe are controlled from India.

How the Scam Works:

Originally, this was a straight, if obscenely unprofessional, collections effort regarding certain companies' payday loans.  But callers would pretend to be federal agents, bank examiners and other powerful people and threaten immediate arrest unless the borrower immediately paid somewhere between 3 and 4 times the original loan amount.   Payments had to be made by Western Union Quick Collect to a location in Florida (presumably to be collected by the Patels).   (Lately, they have begun accepting credit card and, reportedly, check-by-phone and even ACH payments.)  Calls would be made 20 or more times per day to the same borrower, along with his/her employer, co-workers and references.  Profanity was commonplace and even physical threats not unheard of.  Rarely would the caller identify which loan was in default.

For the most part these collection efforts were unsuccessful.  Most people realize that the FBI does not collect $300 loans.  Even if they did, the educational requirements and oral assessments necessary for entry into the Bureau would have barred nearly all of the collectors involved in this scam from entry.  In fact, the collection effort continued only because that one person in twenty that fell for the scam paid so much more than was actually owed that it was worth it to the organizers to keep it in play.

But the scam has mutated further.  By purchasing delinquent loans, United Pay and Innovations Infocom come into possession of the confidential information of tens of thousands of Americans.  Because these consumers ?owe? on at least one loan, collectors are able to convince borrowers they are in serious civil and criminal trouble over the delinquent account.  Collectors call and pretend to represent the ?Financial Crimes Investigation Unit? (though many still lapse and claim to be FBI agents and/or employees of the ?Ministry of Justice.?)   Although they occasionally identify the original lender, more often they claim the debt in question is from 2005 or earlier and that the lender was ?U.S. Federal Bank,? or "U.S. National Bank? - neither of which exists.  Invariably, they claim ?an affidavit has been filed? and demand immediate payment of hundreds or even thousands of dollars to avoid arrest and imprisonment.

In one variation of the scam, they claimed to be acting on behalf of a California attorney.  However, they refuse to give the name and the "Bar ID" number they will give does not correspond to any attorney listed with the California Board of Bar Examiners.  Even more ridiculous, the number they give for the "attorney" is one we KNOW connects to the Indian call center and they even answered it "U.S. National Bank" rather than as a law office.

Most recently, they have begun claiming to be the consumers' legitimate creditors.  In one case, we settled two loans for a customer with a legitimate collection agency ? only to see the settlement fail when these people called the client.  When our client didn?t recognize the name ?U.S. Federal Bank? she asked if they meant the two loans she was scheduled to pay later that week.  Of course, the collector said, they were. He then kept calling her office until reaching her boss and telling him that ? as the owner of the computer she used to make her application ? he was legally responsible for the debt.  Incredibly, her boss accept this outrageous, highly illegal claim and threatened to fire our client.  In the end, the client sent these thieves nearly triple what she had legitimately settled her debts at and still owes the actual creditors!

But the worst is yet to come.  The person that gets scared and pays will be contacted again within weeks with more demands.  Why?  Because this is no longer about resolving debts.  It is about ?plucking a pigeon? to borrow an old-fashioned phrase.  Payment only encourages them to continue the scam.  At least one person we know of has been bilked of over $4000.

What you should do:

Langhorne Debt Solutions is a settlement company.  We can only deal with legitimate businesses that are interested in resolving their open accounts.  We cannot negotiate with a criminal enterprise to which YOU DO NOT LEGALLY OWE MONEY.

Keep us informed, of course, but YOU should consider doing the following:

1) If a caller cannot speak English properly, he or she is not an FBI or other law enforcement agent.  But pretending to be one is a serious crime.   Hang up and call the REAL police.  Feel free to share any and all of this information with the appropriate law enforcement agency.

2) There is no U.S. Federal Bank or U.S. National Bank, so you cannot owe money to these "institutions."  Threatening imprisonment to recover an unlawful debt is extortion.  This felony should be reported to the REAL police.

3) Unless you used someone else?s identity to obtain a payday loan on the internet, YOU CANNOT BE IMPRISONED FOR NOT PAYING ONE.  We do not have debtors prisons in America and the FBI has better things to do than act as a private collection agency.  Again, this is harassment and should be reported to the REAL police.

4) Making outlandish threats like these is automatically a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  United Pay is a ?debt collector.?  Consumer lawyers will take FDCPA cases on a contingency fee so you need not worry about having money to pay a lawyer.  If you are harassed ? SUE THEM!  If everyone did that, they would be out of business in a heartbeat!

I got some info from the company. I hope it helps. I recieved a total of 4 calls today from this number. each one telling me that i could take care of this out of court or in court. The "manager" informed me in order to take care of this out of court i needed to fax them my  debit card along with my pin number. I told the manager i had no problem taking care of this out of court but I was not going to fax or provide them with my debit card number and pin. He said he would be faxing over the case to the athorities on monday and that he would have me arrested and thrown in jail where i would be raped. I asked for the agent to email me proof of information they have on me. After this phone call I did call the ftc and report what was going on and he said this is deffinately a scam and that you dont owe anything. He also informed me that the people doing this do have a heavy indian accent. I provided the ftc with the phone number, and also the email. The Email address came up as acsinc7@gmail.com. I have also reported this email to gmail. IF YOU RECIEVE ANY CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER ...845-523-1053. IT IS SCAM!!!! DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM AND DO NOT CALL THEM BACK! Call your FTC

Hey Tom, I just received the same exact call...when I say this company has all of my information, they have every piece, and I have the slightest clue on how they were able to get access to it. They claim that I owe this unknown lending company $700 for a loan back in January. I'm very worried but at the same time I have bank statements which shows that these people have NEVER deposited any money in my account nor have I applied to this imaginary payday loan company. The first call came from this number 214-447-7577 (dallas, texas)...and then 845-523-1053...each call was from males with a very heavy asian or pakistan accent. We all need to stop this from happening to others.

I got a phone call this morning with the caller ID blocked, and did not answer it.  A man with a heavy Indian accent left a message to call the phone number 845-523-1053. He stated he is calling from the "Federal Investigation Department," and mentioned that I had given my "personal details" to a company that matches my SS #. He said to "kindly call back so "we can explain the rules of the company." He had said other things, btu I could not understand him unfortunately. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A SCAM! Don't ever call back. I couldn't find this number listed anywhere. I don't know how he got my number. The call is out of New York, but that is all I could find.
