Just received the same call, not a live person but a recorded message about not returning the defective phone.
I don't have a defective phone, actually mine works pretty damn good. Since they are robo calls they probably dialed the wrong number. I am not going to worry about it, just ignore it.

I got this call and I do have a unit to return, so I do not think it is a scam. I am with Verizon.

Received this call yesterday on the cell phone in voice mail.  Called Verizon.  It is a scam.  The 800 number in the message is Verizon but the caller ID is the 845 number.  Verizon said if you answer the call they will try to get your account information.

I just received a call from this number identified as "phone scam" on caller id on my landline phone. We no longer answer calls from numbers with no name or numbers we don't know and don't use a machine for answering either. The curiosity to me about this call is reading the info here because I just returned a Verizon cell in USPS yesterday(late). But Verizon doesn't have my landline number and can contact me by cell or email and has.

There has to be some tie in here because of all the previous incidences mentioned above and I think this somehow should involve some kind of breach of confidentiality on someone's part! If anyone with any kind of clout reads this I think some kind of investigation should be done!!!

I received the call just a few minutes ago.  Caller ID said "PHONE SCAM".  I did not answer and no VM was left.  I did return a phone to Verizion a week ago.  I am going to call Verizion Wireless and ask them about this phone number.  Seems strange that they called my landline and not my cell phone number.

Got same call yesterday.  ID came up on TV so I answered.  Same message as above.  Called verizon wireless and no record of un returned items.  I did not remember the number they wanted me to call but caller ID showed the call came from the number listed above.

Got a call from this number and my caller ID said PHONE SCAM so I obviously didn't pick it up. When I checked my messages, there was music as in waiting for someone to pick up. I was afraid that they were scamming my phone account by charging me for the phone call.

This is very puzzling that all of you are saying that it isn't a valid call. It was to me, I did have to replace a defective phone and I hadn't returned the defective one yet because Verizon couldn't retrieve the photos on my granddaughters phone so we had to find someone who could, which delayed the return. So they told me, in their voicemail, that I was supposed to return it in five days or maybe be penalized that $500+, so it seems that they now gave me an extension of 7 days. I was able to retreive the photos, but not by Verizon's technicians, and mailed the defective phone back to them today and got a receipt from the Post Office to be sure they couldn't come back and say I didn't send it back. Imagine they sold me a defective phone which I had to go to Verizon to get them to exchange it and then they threaten me to return the defective phone within 5 days. Something is wrong with their logic. Who are in charge of these companies that they can do that to a customer? The phone became defective in just 3 months. They also have the nerve to replace it with a reconditioned phone.

Same as indicated above and when I called Verizon they said they only have 800 #s, but wanted my full social security number to check further. I told them I had n Verizon account in years and the phone call was a scam and I wasn't going to be scammed by him also.

Got this call also on my land line saying it was Verizon and I needed to return defective equipment that they had sent out a replacement for and I would be billed $500 if it was not returned within a certain date.  They left a legitimate 800 number to call back which I did and spoke to a rep who said there was nothing on my account to this effect nor did I have any returns pending.  She also said that they always contact a customer by email and cell number if this should be the case.  She had no idea why someone from Verizon would call.  And if there is equipment that is not returned and your account gets charged the $500 it will be credited as soon as they receive the return.  I asked her to notate my account to our conversation so it is part of the account record.  Maybe someone has too much time on their hands and is spoofing since I can see no monetary gain from this.

left a voice mail on my land line saying they were Verizon and that I need to send them the unit they are replacing or I could be charged more than $500.00. I haven't asked for any replacements for anything from Verizon.

Verizon ALWAYS contacts me on my cell or email. They don't even have my land line number.

I checked my Verizon account and there was nothing there about this.

My caller ID said this was a call from Verizon Wireless.

I don't know if it's a scam or a mistake.
