Everyone seems to be a target of this fraud. My friends, husband, and I have received several text messages from sms.message@cuwest.org. The messages I have received are: Credit Union West has suspended your debit card. To reactivate call 845-694-6770. Another message I just received moments ago states: CU West Alert. Unusual account activity. Call us at 1-(866)-391-0927. I am NOT and have NEVER been a customer of CU West nor did I even know this bank existed until I started receiving these bogus texts!
The Truth About the number 2009-09-27 14:23:14 Unknown
I would like to first start by saying, this is a scam, or should i say was a scam. the numbers that were used were NY Virtual numbers (DID's) if anyone knows what DID'd are you will know the person responsiable for this is not in NY. I personally Own the DID's that were used for this scam. MY servers were the one that was hacked into to make this scam. I own a International Calling Card Company and the hackers thought it would be a great place to hide the system without being detected. The reason you see the numbers dont work any more is becuase after only 40 minutes of the 6774 bumber being up my Risk Dept found it and shut it dont. The hacker went back in and did it again with the 6770 this time we did not catch it for 14 hours, a lot of people are writing about how smart everyone is and how no one will fall for it. Well let me say that over 9,000 People entered there credit card info, thats the bad news. The good news is on Sept 22nd 2009 at 930AM I contacted the FBI in the NEW York City office and them and I with my Tech Team Started working on this asap. after only one day we were able to track down the souce of the server that hacked into mine and the FBI (Doing the great job they do) got that server shut down and was able to collect all credit card numbers that were entered through this scam. So for you people out there saying no one is stupid enough to fall for it, well i thought the same thing till i seen my log files from my server saying otherwise. if you have any questions please reply to this post but i have to let you know again the numbers are not to blame (6770, 6774) the hackers are.

Davlin 2009-09-23 03:47:10 Unknown
No they don't have info on you they are just sending the same email to everyone hoping some people will fall for it and give their information to them.
Davlin 2009-09-23 03:43:25 Unknown

Got two text msgs on my sprint phone, one from 845-694-6770 and one from 888-379-8451. I called this credit union and they said they never use text as a method to contact their customers. Must be a scam!
Kell 2009-09-22 15:38:22 Unknown
SCAM*****I got the same text messages and told them to F-OFF...I have Nextel and I am from Michigan.
Scott 2009-09-22 15:27:00 Unknown
I have a mixture of Sprint / Nextel phones (200+ numbers) which I've heard have had this issue since yesterday.

Seems they are all Nextel numbers located in MI. All have gotten 2 messages with two different 845 numbers... 8456946774 and 8456946770.
Most of my users figured it was a scam due to the misspelling of Depart-a-ment.

I live in arizona and just got one of these texts, I will be reporting it.
paul 2009-09-22 10:38:46 Unknown

Oh, and Im in White Lake, Oakland County, Michigan... I have Nextel.
Cactus Wren 2009-09-22 02:03:15 Unknown
I'm a Sprint customer as well and have received two of these, one from zwxcnj@messaging.sprintpcs.com and one from tuoyjt@messaging.sprintpcs.com, each informing me that a nonexistent Credit Union West account had been suspended. I've informed Credit Union West and they're looking into it: now how to alert Sprint?
Pam 2009-09-22 01:33:20 Unknown
Both my husband and I got the message, we are both nextel and MI
anon 2009-09-22 01:10:06 Unknown
Same as everyone else. Havent received any texts like this. I did just make a posting on Craigslist just the other day. also with sprint.
Steve 2009-09-22 00:29:18 Unknown
I got it, too. Call your carrier and identify the text or message sender. They should be able to trace it through the number or address that it came from.
Banker 2009-09-22 00:24:50 Unknown
Are all of you nextel or sprint customers? Or maybe from Michigan? I'm just trying to figure out how someone got all of our numbers. My mom, dad, and I all got the same two text. I work at a credit union and we all bank there but we also all have nextels and live in the same area. The partical card number they give has nothing to do with our account but when i called and gave a fake card number the system would not take it. I can't beleive some of the scams people come up with.
me 2009-09-22 00:07:17 Unknown
Just got 2 of these today. (845) 694-6774 and (845) 694-6770. Same thing talking about some Co-op debit card thing. Time to send the numbers to the Spring Vally NY police Dept.
lousnz 2009-09-22 00:05:24 Unknown
Same thing... this is a total scam... do not call and do not give out any information EVER!
crusher 2009-09-21 23:53:02 Unknown
I received 2 text message on 9/21/09. The message indicated to call 845-694-6770. The text message indicated my debit card from Co-op Service Credit Union had been deactivated and to call the above number and speak to the security department. I called the number and entered some numbers. I have never banked at Co-op Services Credit Union and to my knowledge don't have any type of banking or credit account. I called Co-op Services Credit Union and the telephone representative indicated that this is a SCAM and the user of the 845-694-6770 telephone number want you to enter your personal information and use it to do bad things to you and your family. Let's find out who these or this f****r is and crush this organization. DO I HAVE ANY TAKER? LET'S ROLL!!!!!!!
