The number is listed as Asset Recovery, but after alot of harrasing phone calls and C&D letter I started receiving letters and calls from a different number listed as Portfolio Recovery and they are trying to collect on the SAME bogus debt. Also sent them a C&D letter and filed a complaint with attorney general. Apparently when one scam artist can't collect they sell your information to another scam artist. I have now had to place a fraud alert on all my credit reports and changed my cell, home and business numbers.

Yup. Asset Recovery. Tried to get my last 4 of SS and ended up having it after I wouldn't say. I owe nothing so this must be a scam.

Caller ID showed "Des Plaines IL".  Didn't answer call and caller did not leave a message.

This caller has been calling everyday never pick up the call and just got call blocker on my cell to stop these calls

... which is why the block-ignore response is ineffective. Debt collectors have access to many databases we cannot control which track our financial and records movements. If you want a sure solution, you have to send your demands *directly* to the agency, USPS Certified with return card being the best method.

The receptionist and anyone else in the workplace can state that collector calls are unwelcome. The agency so notified cannot call there again without risk of a lawsuit from the intended alleged debtor.

Ever day I get multiple calls, on my cell phone from 847-257-8333 and they never say a word.  Why bother calling.

This # called stating my last four as #s. Then said his name is ray with asset recovery. Then put me on hold. I called the # back. No answer. I do not owe anyone. I reported the # and blocked it......

Keep getting harassing phone calls, rings twice, hang up, don't leave a message.  Have not got a clue.

They called me and told me all my information. I did not speak to them. When someone calls me and tells me my ss # I want to know whose calling. They hung up before I could ask them.

if a bill is not paid after a period of time it will time out under law.  the bill
mostly charge cards are sold to scum for pennies . they can not sue you
for the money in most cases . they try to scare you into paying the old
bill.  if you give them any money you will have to pay the whole bill.
if you make a deal with them get it in writing or you will get screwed.
they can not take your bank accounts in most cases. if you pay
anything it will be put on your credit report again.  it should have been
removed if these scum have the old bill. if you are on SS or SSDI you
can sue them if they try to take any of that money . It is a federal law
and has federal protection.

Just got a call at work.  And even verified you called me at work, but wanted me to verify information to see if he had the right person.  I said no.  Send me information if you think you have the right person because I have no idea what this is about.  Said there was no information to send.  So telling me this call is being recorded is gonna scare me and trying to talk fast.  Dude...really!!!

I have been getting these calls for a few weeks... and it's gotten so that I have suspended both my cell phone numbers... they have been calling my office...thank god our receptionist... just puts them through to my voice mail... they are really being a nuisance... I keep a copy of my consumer rights... and I know that a debt collector has to submit in writing the debt you owe... one peace of advice.. .for all who receive these calls... if you get a full name and a company... look it up... you can send a cease and desist letter registered mail stating they provide you with formal documentation of the debt you owe... document the harassing phones calls... and file a formal complaint the attorney general of you particular state... in your cease and desist letter you can indicate these are the actions you will take if the threatening and harassing phone calls don't stop... let's give them a taste of their own medicine...

They are calling from a company called ARS. It is a collection agency, mainly for credit cards. They also call from 847-257-8333

I received a call from this number to my work place today. Who is this company? They are paying someone to transfer calls over saying it's personal information. I was put on hold and then the answer machine hung up on me. I don't know who it is from? why they are calling? I don't have any outstanding accounts that need my immediate attention. Stop harrassing me at my work.
