Linda 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
I just ended my phone service with Sprint -- perhaps it is a backlash. Have received 2 calls from this number today.

We have been receiving calls from this number for two days now - even late at night. No one answers or a lady makes some noise, but nothing coherent. What a pain!
AB 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
I been recieving calls also from this number for about 4 days now. I haven't answer it. also I recieved a call from an unknown number. I am a sprint customer as well. something needs to be done about this!!!!!!!!!
JB 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
I have received twelve calls from this number over the past three days, half of them called around 1:30pm MDT and the other half called around 5:30pm MDT. I have also received the "unknown caller" ID and one call from 910-000-000000. The 910 number is not a misprint, my phone showed six zeros on the end.

Same as other callers. they are rude and persistent. If i were a little more naive, i think they would have sent me a new sprint phone with a new 2 year contract without my knowledge or permission. Very unethical. I called SPRINT. They stated they were unaware of them. They may or may not be part of Sprint. I also submitted a complaint with the National Do Not Call registry, detailing their actions and their possibly fraudulent intent.

Been a few days now, same thing that has happened to everyone else. Several calls I didn't answer, then an Unavailable ID, then more missed calls and one voicemail with nothing but a little static. The number says it's from Illinois.
I am on Sprint as well; wondering if the best solution is a new cell phone service? I've had a few of these mysterious repeat callers in the past few months and it seems to be getting worse.

My calls from this number started yesterday. I have not answered any presently, but received 4 yesterday and 6 today. I think I will follow suit with what ACM suggested with the email regarding phone harassment, as I am on the registry as well.

I've received several calls in a row from this number. When answered, there is noone there. I've called the number and get a sort of double ring and then it disconnects. If you ever had a problem number like this, the cell phone company will do little to help except charge you for the call. Good luck!
ACM 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
The phone carrier is Cbeyond Communications, LLC I have sent them a email regarding there customer with my intent to file phone harrassment charge since my number is on the do not call list. Not sure if this will help but, willing to try. Maybe if they get enough emails something will be done.

I have been getting calls from this number for weeks. Today they have called 5 times. Half the time when I answer they hang up. It is really getting annoying.
Steve 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
I am getting the same thing. Prior to this bothersome situation,I was getting calls from the Domican Republic. When I listen to the voice mail from the D.R. call the same background noises described above were there. I didn't answer those and won't answer these either.
I smell a scam.

Every time I get a call from this number, I don't answer it. I'm going to answer next time. I get the "Unknown" caller also. Sometimes they leave a voicemail with static on it, other times, nothing. I'm also on Sprint. I called Sprint and spoke to a supervisor. All they said is they can't help. I asked them to check to see if the number is a Sprint number, but he looked it up and said it is not registered with them. They insisted that there is no way to find out where this is coming from unless I were to get in touch with the police about it. Which then, the police won't even deal with anything out of state like this one.

I received several calls, while working, and did not get to them in time to answer them. Finally, I managed to get one and a person on the other end said it was a call from "Wireless Marketing" to which I said, "No thanks and goodby," and hung up. So far it has been a day and I haven't had anymore calls.

I signed up through AT&T's website to switch my cell phone service (from Sprint), and the next day began receiving calls from this number. I have since activated my AT&T phone, and the calls stopped for a few days and then started back up. They call atleast 8 times a day. Have started received calls from 011-847-859-5942. I thought by not answering they would stop calling, but it appears that is not going to work. Not sure what to do at this point.
jen 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
same calls, about 6 times a day a few weeks ago, and now again for the last few days
jna 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
i've been getting calls from this number for some time now (weeks or more). used to be randomly but now is up to a few times a day. i've asked to be taken off the list multiple times but just get hung up on and called back later. very very annoying and rude. sounds extremely sketchy.

I believe there will be a federal harrasment suit filed soon.
Contact the police in your area to document the harrassment.
If you are a Sprint customer, Call the managaer "donna" in the Copmpliance division (don't let them give you customer service)...or talk to "james" in account services. May sure they domument the complaint. All the info may be pulled ina subpeona.
Harrassed 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
If you are a Sprint customer check how to place you phone on a special mode to block this number (through the "security" section)...it can be done...just call the account services manager of you carrier and demand that they go through the process with you...and don't forget to notify the police in your area...plus have a manager at your service carrier document your complaint...always request a manager...and get their name, extension and employee number.

Gotten two calls today from this number. Caller ID says 'Illinois'
SprintSucks 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
If Sprint is too much a hassle to take care of this, I will change my VoiceMail to this for awhile...
"Hello, you've reached the FCC, please stay on the line while we trace the origins of the phone line you are calling from.
We have recieved numerous complaints of phone harrassment from your number 847-859-5942 and are in an ongoing international investigation for your abuse of the U.S.A. phone systems.
Please hold while we connect you to an FCC agent....."
I think that'll get their attention and make them not to EVER want to call my # again.
;-)

I've received three more calls from this number and complained twice to Sprint. They clam there is nothing they can do and cannot block a specific number.
Asha 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
I too have been recieving numerous calls from 847-859-5942. I have called the number back & it dials a few times & immediatly hangs up. The calls have been recieved as late as 1145 pm. What is going on with this? Does anyone know for sure?
Darryl 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
I started receiving calls from this number ALMOST IMMEDIATELY after I switched from the Nextel network, to the Sprint network. They called me saying that my phone contract was cancelled, and they were offering some huge savings! I truly believe that Sprint does have a hand in this. If these calls persist, I will pursue legal action.
MS INDY 2011-06-06 21:00:30 Unknown
Same as all above!
1st caller from 847-859-5942 answered to the name of Alice Cooper and mentioned that my service contract with Sprint was up.
I receive these call from my cell in Indianapolis IN several times day and night. It is usually a hang up or 2 quick clicks.
I called Sprint who mentioned my contract is up. 1st of all the only way the new caller has my contract information is if Sprint gave it out. Sprint should correct and block this number as far as I am concerned or I will change to a new vender with a new number. My cell phone is useless turn off otherwise. We will otherwise change all our contracts including work from Sprint soon unless.
Sprint customer service, Sprint Compliance, Sprint Fraud Department and Sprint Tech support mentioned there is nothing they can do.
Has anyone had any results.

I finally found out. Their provider is Global Crossing. I called Global Crossing to tell them that this "company" they provide service to is running a scam acting like they are Sprint/Nextel and that they call me non-stop at all hours of the day. Foreign chatter in the background blah blah blah. They said there was nothing that could be done. I told them that since it was a scam and since they knew about it that I'm sure there was. The person spoke with his supervisor and assured me no, there wasn't...So now I'll contact the Attorney General's office in Chicago where Global Crossing is providing service to this "company" Call Smart (he at least gave me the name. They are in Evanston, IL (according to my research on the Internet). If you do call Global Crossing to complain, you need to dial the resident number, 800-482-4848 and hit 000 in order to bypass all of the automated crap if you aren't a customer.

Yes... call the attorney general...send certified letters to the president and ceo of "global crossing"....send copies of this website to Sprint...to the FCC...and if someone out there has the resources..hire a detective to follow/photograph/and check the immigration status of the person(s) answering this phone number (They place they call from and all people would be under surveillance).....all info to be used in a federal lawsuit...

update on phone call
Soon after receiving a call from this number, I got another phone call from an "Unknown" number. The same background noises were heard and the lady talking to me had an accent similar to that of a Hindu friend of mine.
I could barely understand her when I asked for details on who it was and why they were calling. All I got from what the caller said was that the phone owner's contract with Sprint was up if I could give them the owner's contact information she would contact them directly. I told them I wasn't comfortable with that to which she said "OK" and I hung up.
Not sure if Sprint has anything to do with this.
