Got a phone call (12:45am 1 Apr [No Joke!!]) from an out-of-state number that I didn't "know" or recognize.
(Does this mean that they are involved in Interstate Fraud?)
They, of course, left no message.
As always, I didn't answer, but looked up the number here.
I am on the National Do-Not-Call List, and have been for over a couple of years now.
(I guess this is our government at work for us.)
I'm going to
http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
AND to
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
and see if that can get the government to work for me, and stop these calls.
(Yes I will go through all those steps.) [I have also bookmarked these URL's.]
I have also assigned a silent ringtone to this number. (I am up to 53 now.)
We should all pile on.

Received a call from this number this morning. No message was left. Tried numerous times to call back. Constant busy signal. This is obviously a scam, and glad to find this information here. People who do this sort of thing to us and harass us of our energy need to be caught or ki--ed (I could care less) as far as I'm concerned. Be vigilant people. We won't allow this filth to take us over. Wastes my time and your time to have to research it. Thanks for the information!

It's hard to locate and identify the "card services" scammers because they use all spoofed (false) numbers. I have read that legislation is under way to outlaw and shut down the spoofing services (the companies that legally, as of now, supply the technology to make falsifying name and number possible to the scammers.) Once spoofing is eliminated the scammers will no longer be able to hide their true identity and location and will either not be able to stay in business or will be easier to prosecute.

This call came into my cell phone. I didn't recognize it, so I went on the internet. I did notice that complaints about the same number were made about it being a scam for the caller asking for financial information/sensitive information and the people being called were saying it's tied to drug users.
Just thought I would report this to you, too.

The "card services" scammers use all spoofed (false) numbers.Basically they are calling from a "number" but it's not what shows on your caller id. Google "spoofing" and you will see why there is legislation pending to make it illegal.

How do I stop these a***oles from calling me all day
 | Billie 2013-04-02 22:41:23 Unknown |
The "card services" scammers robo message should have stated, "Congratulations! Please don't hang up! You've been approved to be cheated by one of our drug-addicted scammers. He (she) will be on the line shortly to fool you into giving us your credit card number so we can rip you off."

Numerous calls from this number. Said I was approved for a loan. Told them I was recording the call and he hung up. Since then, they've called 4 times in 2 days.

I normally don't answer numbers I don't recognize, but this time I did because it said NJ, and that's where we've been apartment hunting. But it said, "Congratulations! Please don't hang up! You've been approved to get a better rate on your Visa and MasterCard!" At that point, I did exactly what they said not to - I hung up.

This # just called me right now. Strange area code (848) as I live in GA. I was on another call, clicked over, but only heard silence after saying hello 3 times. A few minutes later, when i was now off my other call, the number called back, and still the same silence. I hung up and called the # back and Verzion said this # was disconnected or no longer in service. if that is the case, how is this # calling ME?
 | Ikari 2013-04-02 19:27:58 Unknown |
Telespam doesn't need to buy phone lists to get your number. Thanks to IP phones and computer-assisted dialing these operations can dial 1000 numbers at a time and sweep entire exchanges in less than an hour.
It's very likely even your unlisted numbers are just called at random.
DNC reports don't matter because, like most criminal scum, they don't obey the law. (Democratic response: Make more laws!) Calling back doesn't matter because the caller ID is spoofed. Fake. Pulled at random. At best it's a disconnected line. At worst callbacks harass some poor b*****d who owns that number.
