Debt Collector
They contacted me today about a supposed online loan from Great Plains Lending.  Never heard of them.  They also said that they were going to attach a wage garnishment to me and a lien on my home til I paid it.  I dont know where they got that information from because my home is not in my name!  They didnt realize they were talking to someone who has been in collections for over 20yrs.  As soon as I told them I havent received a Validation of Debt Letter and they are calling me prior to that, they hung up the phone.  I blocked their calls from coming through and I will challenge them if and when I ever receive a validation of debt letter.

A man called Leon called my place of employment and said he said it was a  FEDERAL matter, left a reference #, and said he could not give other information...Needless to say, he is not supposed to call my place of employment for whatever matter he states; it is against the law in the first place, secondly, he lied, and I will have to call and let him know not to call my place of employment, my family, friends, etc.  and he will have to stop, if not, I will report him to the appropriate federal and state agencies Which is ALWAYS a good idea to do so when this happens...I do not know who he is or represents...sounds like a scam.

If you're only income is SSDI then i don't think they can touch it.  They could probably get some kind of judgement against you in small claims court, but they'd have no way to enforce it if you have no other assets.  Don't let them bully you and don't let them threaten you with criminal prosecution.  If all you have is SSDI then as a practical matter there is little they can do.  Payday loans average about 300 to 400 percent  APR.  Looks like you wound up with an interest only loan which can theoretically never be paid back at your payment level.   Maybe you can settle with them for a smaller amount.   Just sayin'.

What they are doing may be against the law.  You ought to check with your state financial department or the agency that handles payday loan type companies.

I took out a $400.00 payday loan with Castle Payday.  I had trouble paying it down (my only income is my SSDI check) and was told that the minimum monthly payment was $90.  It was not exlained to me that none of the $90 went toward the principle of the loan.  So after paying more than I borrowed, they "sold" my debt to the people from this phone #.  I have been called at least once a day from this number and a man named Derrick Alexander who now tells me I owe $867.50.

I KNOW how hard it is, but do ANYTHING to avoid the payday loan blood suckers!

I got the same call this morning from a lady at that number and let it go to vm about getting my name and number on a claim and asked for my attorney or I to call back with details and they didn't leave the name of the attorney office either. Did you you ever find out if it was a scam?

someone identifying himself as rick johnson called my job and spoke with supervisor stating that he was fromm an attorneys office. but he did not give the attorney name . he wished to know how to go about serving papers to va emploiyees and . when the process was shared, he stated that if i would give him a call amd make arrangements to meet someone for the papwork between now and monday that he would not have them come to my job. he left a case number for arrangements.

I  am calling my REAL ATTORNEY, because i feel like i am being threatened by a total stranger, for reasons that are untrue.I feel like this is a scam of some sort.
