I too got the letter, the $299.00 fee to begin teh audit, and the suggestion to go to a bimonthly mortgage payment to avoid interest (which they would set up for me).  They were very convincing and had information about my mortgage agreement that I'm not sure how they got.  Anyway, I stopped payment on the check and await their "confirmation call to set up the audit."  No doubt they will try to get more money from me.  I feel like an idiot, but it's a god wake-up call.

I fell for the letter and signed up, but was also given 3 days to change my mind.  I noticed that there was no address on the letter also.  I called them (like I was a new customer) and asked for a fax number so I could fax a letter of cancellation for the audit.  The fax number I received was:  801-877-2967.  I also found out that they are listed at both Suites 200 and 210.  I only wished I had looked up information about them sooner, but am glad I found out in time.  I am also going to send the letter by overnight mail and "return receipt requested."  This should give plenty of notification.

Said his name was John Myers at ext:002 As stated below he tried the same thing with me. Wanted my credit card number to get started. I saw they were from Utah. Well meaning Mormons scammed me before so I dont do any thing with them anymore.. Beware, its never agood idea to give your credit card number out to to someone potentially scamming you. Report it to Attorney General. Some old folks in need of money could get ripped off as well as a single person with kids, etc etc etc. Work of the devil.

Recieved the letter today from this mortgage auditing program from AMT. They new the amount of my mortgage and the date that I signed it. This scary that they allready know this info. Dont know how they got it. The women I spoke to on the phone was speaking another language I could not understand her and she was talking really fast. All I really heard that it was going to cost me 299.00 for this adutit. Thats when I got suspicious then she confirmed with me the lender I have and asked me wether it was a ARM or a fixed rate. I felt very uncomfortable giving anymore info and told her I would be calling her back later which Im planning not to.

They LIED to you about the refund. There is NO refund, there IS a rebate that you have to apply for using the rebate form from their website. And with the audit, you will be signed up, possibly in the fine print, for a negative-option, 30-day free trial of budgeting software that will turn into a live $49.95/month subscription if you don't cancel in time.

After receiving the letter looks really (with disclaimer saying not a refinance offer or rescue from foreclosure) so I actually called (855 240 8593) and I was on hold for more than 50 minutes but did find out the price went up from $249 to $279 check ($299 if you use credit card).  I even asked what if I am not eligible (what if the AMT division does not find any wrong from our loan) for refund.  What happens to my $279.  The AMT representer said I will get my money back. Representative claims to be the private company supported by government.  After reading all messages from march 29th made me think to believe this guy or not.
I am thinking of paying them and follow up on it and see what happens.  I will try keeping you posted.

the address I have is 826 East state rd suit # 210

I received this letter over the weekend and as I read it I got very excited, as I am having some financial challenges.  However, my gut feeling had me to read, re-read and re-read several time.  What struck me as odd us the statement in the footnote of the letter "certain restrictions apply".  I decided to research this company before I called them.

I have found nothing positive about Mortgage Auditing Program a Division of A.M.T.  The responses that I have read through reverse numbering as other sites solidified my gut feeling of SCAM.  Thank you for your helpful comments.

I got the letter as well and was very suspicious.  The information they provided as to when I signed for a home loan and the amount were way, way off.  I signed for my home loan 10 years earlier and the amount I signed for was about 1/3 the amount they stated in their letter.  Did other recipients of this letter have such erroneous information?

I received this letter also. I am ususlly of the opinion that if it sounds too good to be true-it most likely is. I don't bother with unsolicited letters concerning money (unless it's one of those class action settelments). Run run run away from this scam. And pass the word to friends and family so they won't fall for this and find out that you knew about it but didn't tell them.

I got the same letter in the mail yesterday.  I know if a scam because I have never received a mortgage even thought the letter is addressed to me.  My late husband has and I pay that mortgage but my name is not on the papers from when we bought the house.  It's in my name from his death but the mortgage is still in his name.  My notice expires on 4/26/2012.

I came to this thread from http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-681-9902/10 where KDS posted on 7 Apr 2012 that 855-240-8593 is the number from his/her letter (if you don't see it on page 10, it may have been pushed down to page 11 or 12 by new reply posts). Letters typically offer a mortgage audit for $149/$199/$249/$269/$299 (price has varied over time) with full or partial refund if nothing's found. Also, the company may be changing marketing tactics and are calling victims in addition to mass mailing letters. "Refund" is deceptive because it's really a rebate, not a refund, where you have to APPLY for a rebate of your own money if nothing's found on the audit. You'll also be signed up, possibly behind your back, for a negative-option, 30-day free trial, $49.95/month 30to8 Debt Software (accounting software) that has NOTHING to do with the audit. If you don't take positive action to cancel the free trial, it will turn into a live subscription and your card will be auto-charged with NO REFUNDS.

The company is AMT Auditing Services, LLC but doing business as CRM Ventures LP, Enlightened LLC, and Mortgage Auditing Program. BBB listing http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/loan ... ork-ut-22302183 (scroll down all the way down to the bottom for Alternate Business Names) with F=FAIL rating and 35 complaints, 29 of which were not responded to and it's been like this (N complaints, N-6 failures-to-respond) for many months now which shows that AMT simply stopped responding after the first 6. At one time, AMT's website amtdivision.org http://www.who.is/whois/amtdivision.org/ (registered 03/07/2011 to a domain proxy by an owner who does not want to be found) displayed the Wells Fargo bank logo along with 6 other banks', and the BBB report states "Wells Fargo has stated to the BBB: "Wells Fargo has no affiliation with this company. In addition, this company is not allowed to use the Wells Fargo logo without our express permission. Doing so is a violation of our intellectual property rights."" The bank logos then vanished from amtdivision.org.

AMT's BBB report used to list a second AMT website deadpanham.com http://www.who.is/whois/deadpanham.com/ which was not registered to AMT but to a person David Scheuneman. deadpanham was a near-exact copy of amtdivision.org with the same bank logos that were removed at the same time as amtdivision's. This used to confuse me because what legit business offering mortgage audits would use such a weird name for a retail website? All became clear when David alleged on 4 Feb 2012 near the bottom of http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8888520568 that deadpanham.com was hijacked from his control. Some time after David's post, the suspicious-looking phone number on deadpanham's registration was changed (to presumably David's real number), AMT's operation on deadpanham.com was taken down (it now redirects to David's business rootedinspirit.org), and deadpanham was removed from the BBB report as an alternative website for AMT. This was most satisfying and it was David's efforts that accomplished this (thank you, David). What legit business would use an allegedly-hijacked domain to conduct business?

AMT has a Utah business license https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=7968758-0151 that states on the second line "Company Type: DBA". Why does AMT use "LLC" in its registered business license when it's in fact only a DBA? This even fooled the BBB into thinking that AMT was a LLC for several months before it was corrected. AMT has also been busy changing Registered Agent names on its business license. Previously, AMT had been registered to COLTON MOODY, then to MARK SULLIVAN, and now to Chance 1 LLC. Chance 1 LLC is registered in turn to AMT https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=7437501-0160 and both companies are located at the same address 826 EAST STATE RD STE 210 AMERICAN FORK, UT 84003. Wow, how incestuous is this? Furthermore, Enlighted LLC (a DBA of AMT listed at the bottom of AMT's BBB report and previously registered to MARK SULLIVAN) is registered to Double Rainbow LLC https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=7807703-0160 and Double Rainbow is registered to Chance 1 LLC https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=7822422-0160  All four are located at same address 826 EAST STATE RD STE 210 AMERICAN FORK, UT 84003. If you draw a picture, it looks like this:
AMT=====Chance1-----DoubleRainbow-----Enlightened       where "=====" denotes the incestuous double link.
Both AMT and Enlightened has been registered to MARK SULLIVAN at one point, but MARK SULLIVAN has gotten his name off both registrations and has now insulated Enlightened from AMT via Double Rainbow and Chance 1. One has to question what would drive such rapid re-registrations over a few month's time, and what justification is there for multiple companies. Googling Chance 1 and Double Rainbow reveals no online presense or reference and suggests they exist solely as dummy companies to remove individuals' names off business registrations and to insulate Enlightened from AMT. Why would anyone need to do this?

Why would anyone need to remove individuals' names off business registrations? Well, for one thing, Colton Moody is the Registered Agent for the Summit Group of Utah LLC https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action/details?entity=5394161-0160 and Colton Moody is also listed as SGOTLLC's President near the bottom of Summit's BBB report http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/trai ... ehi-ut-13002802 with an F=FAIL rating, 89 complaints and 2 Government Actions against it (1 settled, 1 pending). If you google around, you'll find that SGOTLLC and its DBAs are alleged to have offered coaching seminars for $thousands up front and failing to deliver on them. This is apparently why COLTON MOODY's name on AMT's business registration was replaced by MARK SULLIVAN -- to prevent COLTON MOODY's troubled business history from tainting AMT's then-yet-to-be-made business history -- and now MARK SULLIVAN's name has also been replaced by Chance 1 LLC on AMT's registration.

Anyone is welcome to search here https://secure.utah.gov/bes/action for Utah business licenses.

If you buy the audit, you'll get a piece of paper that may say you are owed a refund on your mortgage. However, converting this piece of paper into cash is quite another matter. Patrick says here http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-656-9964 on a similar audit offer that "When I asked what is the likelihood of them finding some mistake and me getting a refund from the bank, he indicated that "honestly" very rarely does it happen" and that's because lending papers are pretty much standardized, even ARMs. Lenders know what they can get away with and what they can't. Think your lender will refund money just because you have a piece sof paper from an unlicensed fake company you gave $149/$199/$249/$269/$299 to? Lenders have signed mortgage notes in hand and will fight you tooth and claw in court (if one homeowner wins a refund, others will follow). One huge difference is your mortgage note is already legally enforceable in court; your piece of paper is not and you'll have to hire an attorney at $hundreds/hour for months/years to try to convince a court that you have a valid refund. Think it's worth the risk?

Beware the "refund" offer is actually a rebate and not a refund http://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-refund-and-vs-rebate/  To get your money back, you have to find the rebate form on amtdivision.org, fill it out and send it in within a 45-day time window allegedly starting from when you receive audit results. AMT has also tried to hide the form by moving it around on their website so posting a link for it here is unreliable, try googling "amtdivision.org rebate form". Beware any or all the rebate terms (45-day window, etc.) can change anytime so the best thing to do is to get the form and follow the instructions on it. Do not wait passively for your "refund," it will never show up, you must take positive action to find the rebate form and APPLY for it.

If you buy the audit, you will also be signed up for a negative-option, 30-day free trial of $49.95/month accounting software called the 30to8 Debt Software designed to save you $thousands in scheduled mortgage interest (you can also use it for all sorts of debts). DON'T BUY IT! There is nothing magic about the software, it uses the well-known method of principal prepayment and you can get the same or BETTER results if you prepay your loans yourself without the software. The 30to8DS is a recent version of United First Financial's Money Merge Account that has been thoroughly debunked here http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/741118/ with a Quick Summary on page 1. In fact, mikef07 states at the top of http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/741118/?start=914 that "The results do show that by using the MMA software it would cost me $5070.29 extra" than doing it on his own and that was when the MMA was $3,500. The present value of $49.95/month for 8 years (assumes you can pay your 30-year mortgage in 8 years as suggested by the website name 30to8 and it's not easy) at 1% APR (what savings accounts are giving) is $4,600 so mikef07 would lose 5070.29-3500+4600=$6,170.29 today. If you take longer than 8 years and continue to use the 30to8DS, you will continued to be charged $49.95/month. The 30to8DS is potentially a much bigger money maker for AMT than the audit and why AMT is so eager to cram this down your throat.

You also do not get the 30to8 software on a CD, you have to go to 30to8.com, login, and enter all your financial details into the website. 30to8.com is registered to a domain proxy by an owner who doesn't want to be found http://www.who.is/whois/30to8.com/  30to8 only recently upgraded to secure https service but do you really want to give away how $much you make, what your $mortgage is, what your card $payments are, etc. to a website owner who doesn't want to be found?

This is a negative option deal -- if you fail to take positive action to cancel the free software trial, you will be automatically billed $49.95/month with NO REFUNDS. Cancel instructions were on the Cancellation Policy page of 30to8's website 30to8.com but AMT has shown a propensity to hide things by moving them around so try googling "30to8.com cancellation policy".

STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THE $149/$199/$249/$269/$299 AUDIT AND $4,600 30to8 DEBT SOFTWARE AND BEWARE OF SHILLS ON THIS THREAD.

I recieved the same letter ... just days after I had refinanced with Bank of America.  I thought it was suspicious because there was no address on the letter.  The average refund amount they said was $1,497.32 and one third of the refunds equal #3,000 to $7,000.  It all sounded to fantastic to me.

We received a rather suspicious looking letter from "Mortgage Auditing Program", Division of A.M.T. There was no address listed except this phone number. The letter was to inform us that we might be owed a refund of several thousand dollars from our mortgage lender. It said the average refund is $1497.32. The letter said we are eligible for a mortgage analysis and refund review.

Is this a scam letter?

From the likes of the posts above it is a scam!
