Somehow they did a search and since I have one of the most common names in the United States they thought they had the right person when they found me. They have now called me several times attempting to collect a car loan debt. Which I don't even have a car loan. The last time they called was in Nov 2013 and I documented everything. I spoke to a few people the first time I answered in Oct 2013 and made it very clear that I didn't want any more calls. I had to prove to them by giving info that I really didn't want to give over the phone like my address and last 4 of my soc. I was asked for a full social security number and I flipped! So it finally came to just the last 4 digits. I was told that sure enough they did have the wrong person and got an apology. Then like I said a month later in Nov. I got another call. I had to yell in to the phone that "I know my rights, and this was wrong!" I once again had to prove that they had the wrong person. This company has no right to call anyone based on a search they did and hope they get lucky and get the correct person. I have a record of dates, times, names of who I spoke with. If I ever get a call from them again, hope that I don't, I will take legal action. I know there has to be something I can do to make this never happen to me again.

I have over and over told them to take our number off their list. There has never been anyone at this number by the name they always ask for, I have no idea who it is, and I've told them so over and over. Yet they keep calling, several times a week, trying to collect the debt of some unknown person who gave them a false number...which turned out to be ours! How can I get these losers to stop harassing us?!
