Left 2 msgs and claim to be DTE.  When I called, operator asked me to provide phone number.  It sounds like the call was transferred to India the voice was vague and unclear.

I get a call from this number every day but they never leave a message.  Does anyone answer numbers they don't recognize anymore?

I used to work for DTE energy, and they WOULD NOT use this number. They will ALWAYS direct you to thier line at 800-477-4747. Can you say SCAM? I knew you could...

I got a call from this number to my mobile . It was an electronic message asking me to call DTE for an important message, I called DTE back and DTE person is saying this number doesn't belong to DTE  and asked me to ignore the call from this number

I called back after at least 6 calls that I did not answer because someone here said it was a bill collector (worried about ID theft). I got a message that it was Rocky Mountain PBS (Public Television Service).  I think this is a scam operator.

This number seems to have been taken over by a bill collector out of California.

I called the official DTE number and nothing was wrong with my account, so they searched their directory for this number.  It was a DTE number calling about a previously closed account at an old address.  However, the DTE representative told me to disregard the call, since I manage my accounts online.

Got a call from this number 855-319-7314. Was a recorded announcement telling me DTE had important info for <empty pause> and to call them back at same number.  So I called back.  

Lady answered, says shes from DTE and asks my phone number.  She looks it up on computer then asks to talk to a relative of mine.  Told her that person doesn't live here. So then lady asks me for their phone number.  I refused.  Then lady asked if I would take a message.  I said this sounds pretty suspicious.

I asked if she was an employee of DTE and lady tells me that "she's calling for DTE" instead of answering my question.  So I asked again, are you an employee of DTE?  Lady responds by asking if I want to talk to her supervisor.  So I asked a third time, are you an employee of DTE?   After some mumbling, she says "yes, she's an employee of DTE collections".  

Well, after getting 3 evasive answers to a simple question, I told her conversation is over and hang up.

From what I've read, people report that the caller ID info says DTE, so i went ahead and called DTE's main number (18004774747) and talked with a customer rep about my account.  They told me there is NO reason they should have called me because my account is in good standing.

I called 8553197314 and got a recording that didn't match DTE's recording (hours of operation are 7am to 7pm, not 9am to 5pm) and they didn't have the menu option that the 4774747 number has (residential customers press one, business customers press two).

Plus there is no "855" number listed ANYWHERE on DTE's website.

They did leave a voicemail, which said something about a 'friendly reminder for <no name spoken>, please contact us at your earliest convenience.

All this leads me to believe it's not DTE and that it's a scam.

i called dte and confirmed that it is an official dte number.

Called me. Didn't leave a message. If it is DTE, I live in Michigan, but don't have, and have never had DTE. I'm not even on a lease right now.

this call was supposed to be from DTE.  I'm suspicious.
