you are all correct. I called microsoft also and they said they would never call.  don't ever let anyone take control of your computer unless you have called a reputable computer dealer like dell, hp etc.  they also gave me a website that they said I should check out.  via3support.com.  now if they were from microsoft why wouldn't it be a microsoft support site?  I am calling my cell phone carrier to have the number blocked.

Called me and stated he was calling from Micrsoft Security  - they spotted anomalies on my ip address and think someone is trying to hack into my computer. He wanted me to go to the computer and work with him. I said I'll just log off my system, so he hung up.
Good thing I'm the suspicious type.

What amazes me is that you actually think you are making things better and your scam more believable with these transparent  lies.

Okay, Johan Donald-Rone, here is "what is make sense" straight from Microsoft:

Avoid tech support phone scams

Strange call pretending to be from Microsoft tech support

Some relief came the first week in October 2012 as the FTC spanked whole gangs of these creeps with huge damage awards.

I can reinstall my OS, & download fixes, & updates in 60 - 90 minutes. That includes defrag, removing pre-installed junk, re-installing my software, etc. What did his "tech" do for 10 hours?

A man has been repeatedly calling me from this number at least every other day. He had an Indian accent and told me he was calling from Microsoft. He asked if I had downloaded anything from the Internet and then tried to tell me that a hacker was trying to use my IP address to hack into my computer. They directed me to teamviewer.com and told me to download. I don't believe. I've been told so many times that Microsoft doesn't call me without me calling them first and I have never called them before. SCAM!

I have several calls from this number.  Never answered it, didn't recognize the number and no message was ever left.  Today I decided to answer and got the same information that has been posted.  His name was James and he's with Microsoft, and they are receiving warnings and error messages from my IP address. He wants to fix it for me and asked me to get online and I said........

It is a scam - Microsoft does not monitor your computer and also does not cold call you.  Microsoft and Microsoft partners will only call you if you have called them first.

I got several calls from this number and I was asked to go to a page and click download, I didn`t do what they asked me to do but I played the part like if I was doing it. After 2 minutes into the call, the lady asked me if I downloaded the files form that page, I said yes and she told me that she knew I didn`t do it because she couldn`t get my ip and see my files yet, I started laughing and I told her off because I knew it is a scam and what she was trying to do was getting remote access to my computer.
BE CAREFUL PLEASE, DON`T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING THAT YOU DON`T KNOW.

hey i got a call from this number and they said that they are calling from Microsoft and they want my IP address details as there are fraudulent mails going from my IP address(that's the info that the person on the phone provided). I was surprised that some one from Microsoft would call me for that reason, why not the internet provider. Just watch out, i think this is a scam.

Gotta a call on this number, I answered the phone and the caller hung-up. It's rmy opinion that they are priming  that person for response when they do call for their intent. They are just warming up so prepare.
