ROFL.. Nice try Shilly, but epic failure of the shill once again!

The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

Too easy to detect shillers using those statements.

Lurkers:
Legitimate computer companies do not cold-call people, telling them their computers are infected.

Shill attempt reported.

You might consider buying a landline call-blocking device for your mother (or *any* person who might be vulnerable to such scams).  You can set some up some of these call-blocking devices to allow calls only from numbers that you input into the system.  All other calls will be blocked.  They cost between $60-100.  Money well spent.

Be careful this is a full on scam. They have no shame and are preying on innocent people. They call you and represent that they are from Microsoft. They get you to give them control of your computer and put a virus in it. They have victimized my mother an elderly lady and have continued to call her and trying to get money from her. She has become a nervous wreck. this has to be stopped.

Got a message on my business account with AT&T mail, not letting me sign in due to suspicious activity and that the account was temporarily blocked.  Doing this remotely with my business account, I called the #, thinking it was AT&T support.  I let them in remotely...after they were scanning, I got a very sick feeling and they started putting prices up for security that they said I needed. I told him to get out of everything and that I did not feel comfortable with this.  He did get out, but now I am still sick that they may have gotten access to all of my banking etc. I am just sick! I should have known better.

Got a call a couple of months ago from 855-365-0555 stating my computer had been hacked!  They stated I had paid them to "monitor" my computer for these things.  Against my better judgement I let them remote access my computer to "fix" the problem for ONLY 350.00!  Since my computer was acting funny and I did indeed have a 4 year coverage with a company I gave them what they wanted.  They have been calling back the last few days to "fix" my laptop as well for only "300 or 400 or 500" depending on the needs of my laptop.  Their number is always unavailable or out of area or private caller.  They would not give me their number either until I insisted.  They I call back and get a message to leave a number and they will call me back.  Now I have to bring my computer in to see if they are getting all my information....more money!  I can not believe I fell for this scam!  Shame on me AND THEM!

Got a call from 1-855-365-0555 saying he was with McAfee and he had a special for $49.87  and another special for $77.00.  I gave them control of my computer and after 3 1/2 hours they told me my computer was in good condition.  They also deleted my Norton Security System.
After thinking about it I call my credit card company and ask if the charges had be posted. They said NO
and I told them to cancel my credit card and not to accept the charges.

Just got a call from 855-365-0555, third one this week. This guy said his name was Jason Smith (real original) he said he was with Expert Tech Services working with Microsoft and that he was in Ontario Canada.
He wanted me to go to the Start button so I played along acting like I was doing it, he then said to type in CMD and hit enter, I said I did and he asked if my screen was black, I said it was and that it looked like an old DOS system, he told me to look at the bottom and find ASSOC I said I found it he told me to hit enter again, he then said to type in CLSID DO62 and that was the IP address. I acted like I was all upset and told him my computer was totally black and that he broke it. He tried to tell me that my cable must have come lose and to make sure that it was connected and to go to internet explorer and go to www.ammyy.com and type in EVENTVWR, I told him that I would not do that because he would take over my computer. He actually told me that I was rude and he was just trying to help me! These people are incredible! If I did not have experience with computers and IT I could have been in real trouble. I think the media needs to say something about this on the news as it seems to be pretty rampant right now especially after getting three calls in this week.
I hope people ask a lot of questions and try to find information on the web before they do anything these "jerks" ask.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Have had numerous calls from 'Global IT Experts', or that's the company the number claims to be, although  call comes up 'Private Caller' on ID. Always an Indiana gentleman, wants to show me problems with my Windows System, wants me to first open 'eventvwr' in the Run bar, then visit the website 'www.teamviewer.com'. I always ask him to call back for some reason or another as I am going to mess with him as much as possible. I play dumb. Have a ball doing it. BUT DO NONE OF WHAT THEY ASK! THIS IS A SCAM!
