This really is a number for Bank of the West. They use this number for "outside sales", meaning they want to consult with you about their other products. I called the main customer service number and they were able to confirm the 855 is one of theirs, although it took them a few minutes (it seems like this is a new number and not all employees are aware of it).
I believed everyone on here until I actually called the number on the back of my card... They transferred me to the department and the guy recommended that I sign up for a couple services that they had. I actually saved $4 per month by setting up a monthly transfer from my checking account to my savings. Legit in my book.
I stopped into my local branch because they asked for some of my information. They did verify in face they are Bank of the West department that is known as the Customer Care group. They make calls to increase our experience at the bank. I then called back and spoke to a rep and to my surprise they walked me through different things i had no idea about. Thank you Bank of the West!!! Always looking out for your customers!!!!!
You should really call the bank again, I called both the 1800 number and went into my branch and they BOTH verified it as being the Customer Care group... This is a legitimate Bank of the West representative calling you.
this number is not Bank of the West. Do not give any personal information to the person on phone number. I calledBank of the West and it is NOT a registered number of the Bank.
They won't leave a message, they are actually scammers from what I could tell. Debt collectors will give you all and any information you want if you are the person they are calling for without hesitation (it's the law to do so) but these guys keep filling up space with BS wording and trying to confuse you.

The Caller ID showed "Bank of the West", and there was no message left. According to a representative from their Online Banking department (on a different number), it is a legitimate phone number for their Customer Care Team. However, when the representative transferred me to that number, there seems to be a longer delay than they report to speak to someone in that department. Their website also appears to be having issues. Take care!
