It's a scam and don't call back. They state they are from the legal dept and have papers to serve you and you have to call back ASAP. The scare you with knowing the last 4 of your SSN and your address. They buy accounts from agencies when they are expired, meaning you can no longer be taken to court to pay back the debt as it is too old. They do have your address with the account and I believe all they have is the last 4 of your SSN attached to the collection they bought. Remember, never once in the history of a real legal matter, did an agency call to tell you that you were going to be served. It is also illegal under the FCRA to threaten to sue someone unless you follow through. And they can't follow through! If you have old debts, collectors may not be able to sue you to collect on them. That's because debt collectors have a limited number of years ? known as the statute of limitations ? to sue you to collect. After that, your unpaid debts are considered "time-barred." According to the law, a debt collector cannot sue you for not paying a debt that's time-barred. They can try and scare you into paying back the money, but they can;t legally do anything about it.

I recieved a call today from a gentleman regarding a summons that was returned from my residence so he informed me they had to serve me at my Poe because I don't get home until after 8. I thought he was full of crap and hung up and when I got off my lunch break my hr rep told me he called there as well asking if there were any restrictions on the property before someone came out. Idk pretty weird but  kind of nervous because if they were a scan how would they know where I work.. Idk

Got this call they're full of sh*t, nobody warns you when your getting served. I work with process servers all day everyday.

Well they said they are from your city most likely   just call your city and check with them. but I got the same call too.

Just got the same call said they know my address and knew my last 4 of my ssn# wow pretty crazy said I was being served  lol I was ok go ahead but this is not my first call plus they call unknown so it can't be real that's just what I think

This number called me and a lady is claiming to be from a legal department and says im being served a summons to court for a loan they claim i owe. when i asked her to validate my account info she says she cant do that. does anyone know who this really is? are they really a legal department?
