I fell for this! And afterwards had a weird feeling n looked up the number n found this!!!!! So I called the sheriffs dept n had my bank account changed- anywas they just called n left a message that they money will be taken out tomorrow morning! Good luck! But I just wonder should I contact someone!?

Bellingham police are warning people about a company that cold-calls people asking for sensitive information.

If you get a call from 1-855-639-8763, don?t give out anything sensitive, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young. Instead, hang up and call police.

An elderly Bellingham resident got a call from someone claiming to represent ?The Eastern Division? earlier today, Oct. 24. The caller accused the resident of some kind of check fraud, then asked for a social security number and other sensitive info.

Whoever?s calling has done some background research on the victims, so it makes them sound more legit. Otherwise it?s a pretty typical scam, Young said.

Never give that kind of information out without talking to local law enforcement or your bank.

When Young called the number, the man who picked up the phone ?sounded like he?d had a few drinks,? he said. I tried calling, too, and just got a voice mail box. Sounded like the guy on the answering machine had just smoked a couple packs of cigarettes.

So far police have only gotten one report of the scam. Young would like to keep it that way.

?I?d like to nip this one in the bud,? he said.

Our police have put the town on notice that these calls are coming in and we are to hang up and call police if we get such calls.

Briyanna,  if that is your real phone number I would recomment that you ask the Board Moderator to remove it.  You are publishing your number to every scammer around since they read this board too.

Just got this very rude message both on my phone and my boyfriend's phone.  The call on mine came in RESTRICTED, and the call on my boyfriends came, as if it were from our local Sheriff's Office FAX machine!  But, the rude message left on both our phones was the exact same!  Something to the effect:
"This is Investigator Johnson, (NEVER once says WHERE he is calling from) calling re; check fraud, have all the paperwork here in front of me, need to talk to you before proceeding. You have 24 hours to call me back, or I will have no choice but to take action!  You can call 855-639-8763 which is toll-free, so you should have no problem ($) making the call!When you call, refer to Docket #XXXXX."
Anyway, we called our local Sheriff's Office from where the FAX # was "supposedly" used to call us.  After they researched, this is theirs, and our conclusion: FIRST, The person I spoke with has been in the room all morning, where that fax machine is, and no one has used it at all to make a regular call, plus they only use that line for faxes!  SECONDLY, the Docket Number given does NOT exist!  So, we have concluded that this is a SCAM.  Everyone beware, just another low-life to get rich quick, dishonestly, off anyone who will believe him!

Yes they call me and my children , threated me to pay this payday loan .  Had all my info correct, but i had no idea of this.  Also said i will be arrested if i did not pay, call my husband number who had a heart attack, and didn't need this foolishness.  they want me to paid this with a debit card or a acard that you go put money on, they do not want no money order or no money gram.. What is this?

It's been a bump and run game today.   So many shills....so little time!!   We can only hope that at least one scammer was held at bay today......a just reward...

When I called the number, they claimed to be a legal entity doing arbitration prior to the case going to court.

I'll buy you an airline ticket if you want to visit.  But I am guessing you are a little bi*** and do not want to.

I recieved a message on my phone for the wrong party.  I attempted to call back and advise this was the wrong number.  The male that answered the phone proceeded to commit numerous FDCPA violations including telling me to "Stick it up my annuos" and refusing to provide me with a manger claiming he was it!  He also hung up on me twice since the line went directly to him.

They called about 10 relatives about a check fraud for an ex-wife.  I contacted the Texas AG office and filed a complaint.  Here the infor the d***hit gave me... Allen - 855-639-8763 - docket # 64366.  The guy sounds like he is a dumb as a door knob.  I wished they were close, love to pay a visit to them.

This company called me at my sister's residence looking for me.  I called them back and they told me I was under investigation for check fraud at Banc One.  I have never had a Banc One account.  Anyway, they told me that I was going to be arrested if I did not pay the balance.  I asked them to send me some type of documentation of the debt and the guy called me a scumbag and hung up on me.  It's pretty scary to me to know that they had all my personal information and then they called my at my sister's house in which I never list her phone number on any accounts.  These people use scare tactics to get money from you on a debt that you do not actually owe.  Be careful with this group of people.

My experience was the same as Jody's.  Investigating check fraud. No one answered the phone and the voicemail said 'you have reached the Eastern Division'.  No other identifying info.

This person said they were investigating check fraud and trying to locate a person who may be a family member of mine. His message was very rude and almost threatening. I left a voicemail at the number and their voicemail only answered "Eastern Division". No company or agency name.
