Yes, I keep getting the calls and will not call back. There is NO fiber on my street and it is a huge scam. If, in fact, they were changing over to fiber, you would get a notice in the mail and see fiber cables on your street.
I knew it ws a scam from being a retired Verizon employee. No one would call and deliver such an unprofessional message. Too many "ums" and "uhs" in the message.

A guy came to our business, not even a phone call, saying that he was from Verizon. He said that they were changing their old copper wiring to new fiber optic cable. We have to make an appointment to change. This seems fishy to us. He also had no ID on him or a badge identifying that he was from Verizon.

So glad I just looked up this number.  I got the phone call and made an appointment yesterday.  My husband was not happy that I did, so I decided to look up the number to see if it really was Verizon.  I don't want to switch so I'm going to cancel my appointment.  Thanks for posting all these replies.

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it's Verizon, BUT when you migrate over their are a few things they do not tell you.

#1. When you switch, they remove all the copper and you have no other option but Verizon Fios, so they LOCK you in as a customer.

#2. They keep your rate the same, not telling you that the average person's rate on Fios for the same home service you now use costs less, and you should be charged less... but they don't... Profit for them.

#3. You BECOME a Fios Subscriber with this change-over.

Got the same call multiple times over the last few months.  Eventually called back using the general Verzion number (1-800-Verizon).  They confirmed the upgrade and were able to book the appointment.  FYI, you do need to be home as they need to install a new battery back-up system within your home, apparently requiring access to one 3 prong outlet.

I received a message this week from this phone number and they identified themselves as Verizon.  They indicated that they had a lot of service calls for my area and that they needed to send a technician to my home to change the copper wiring to fiber optics, but that I had to make an appointment with them.  I was not comfortable with the who scenario, so chose not to call them back.
