You, but they are not out of North Carolina.  They are in New York

The names of the two guys running this scam are:

Justin Tata

Jamie C.o.o.n.s (apparently the comment filter thinks this is a racial epithet)

They are out of Tonawanda, New York

Last known address:
31 Joseph Drive
Apartment C
Tonawanda, New York 14150

In addition to the above aliases they have also used:

Legal Process Services
Simon Eichler & Associates
American Arbitration Services
First Department Recovery Services (google this one and check out the BBB listing for it)

I recommend everyone forwarding complaints to your state attorney general and the FBI

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

the calls you are getting are caused by internet skip tracing, people are willing to put their name on anything now in this digital age and anyone who has a debt on you will also put your name out their for all to see, remember bad debt is free to report. they obtain as much info on you as they can possibly get even as far as your family and their work witch is harassment and will be dealt with. the way it works is they illegally assume your most expensive debt by representing is as some false court case in order to intimidate the caller in to either give up info or assume the debt in full and there fore pay in full. this is illegal and easy to hide with the right kind of software but they must have limited technology due to the voice being actual vs. a dialer hopper witch is In other words is a "press one to go to" and is vary expensive to own and maintain and also must be licensed by the FCC. to stop this you must go to the right government agency who over sees the tele world and that is the FCC and DHS it might seem like a dead end but if enough of us report this they will begin an investigation an they can figure out who is scamming thousands out of their hard earned money that's why local police will do nothing to help they assume we know how to properly report this. im fed up with this as well as you. time to put the brain to work!

They called my whole family, and even called my daughter's friends phone. I don't even know her friend at all, nor do I have her number! That is too much!!! They were calling me and I blocked them with my app. Current Caller ID will block them and not even let them leave a msg, for anyone who needs a great blocking app. Really works and tells you who's calling from numbers you don't know.
I'm going to report them to too!

I've spoken with these people several times (when they haven't hung up) It's always an African-American individual who's just reading off of some notes they have. What bothers me the most is they happen to have the last 4 digits of my social security number. I checked my FREE annual credit report & the info they had is not on m report.

Apparently, Mckenzie Reed is a Columbia, South Carolina Collection firm that may or may not have ties with a local law firm.
This firm is quite unprofessional, gives out false and misleading information and is mostr deceptive in its phone tactics and strategies to gather information about individuals - most likely for "debt collection" purposes.  I have been hung-up on several times in one day and have been given 3 different names of their company.  They will not discuss any matters with individuals that are properly representing people who are being called constantly by these collectors.  This firm is being reported to all of the appropriate state and federal agencies that regulate this area of the law and this will, hopefully, put an end to their tactics that I personally opine as being violative of Federal and State law.

This number called my 2 brothers and my parents-in-law. They did NOT call me. It was an automated phone message saying they were looking for me. When I called them, they said they were with McKenzie Reid and Assoc. and I had breached a contract with Cashsmart Advance. "Would I like to settle in court or out of court?" I asked why they did not call me directly. They said my information had changed. Funny, cause my phone number has been the same for almost 10 years! THIS IS A SCAM

Debt Collector
My aunt informed me that she was getting calls from this num and I have never used her for a reference. I called the number and they had my num and name already. Night before I called I looked up bill collector scams and what my rights were. So when I called them I was ready for whatever they were going to tell me. They knew I had an old credit card account and they told me that I was being investigated for fraud. If I didn't make a payment I would be served a docket from the sheriffs dept. I told them I wanted something in writing and the so called person said they don't do that. So I informed her of my rights and she better not call me or my aunt again. I put in a complaint to the fair trade commission.

>>> Now if the Government can listen in to phone conversations and emails and texts and know where they are coming from why can't they trace these people and get rid of them <<<

Because:

(1) Your premise is not true.  Or at least, not true enough to support your conclusion, or has no bearing on your conclusion.  (Q: They can put a man on the moon, so why can't they cure cancer?  Or at least rid my home of cockroaches?  A: Because curing cancer is harder than putting a man on the moon, and ridding everyone's home of cockroaches requires more people and is more expensive than putting a man on the moon.)

(2) The crime they committed, if any, isn't a capital offense justifying "getting rid of them."

(3) Even if they can do everything you say, they don't have the resources to take away from other important tasks to screen all of your calls and to be your personal secretary.  And I bet you wouldn't want the government doing that for you, anyway.

(4) Even if they can do everything you say, the numbers (or at least the one referred to in this thread) trace back to VoIP sources using the Internet to place the calls from countries that don't cooperate with American law enforcement to "get" the offenders, and our government just doesn't invade other countries willy-nilly and risk international consequences when they can put out press releases to warn people about these scams.  This isn't Osama Bin Laden-level stuff, you know.

My mom got numerous phone calls from a series of numbers including this one. They said that they needed her help to find her sister who she doesn't talk to anymore, and that she was a defendant. We called the number back and got a voice mail box saying they were an investigations dept. and to leave some info on the message and someone would call you back. SCAM
