Called my family 500 miles away for me??? with a case number

calling my work cell phone?

Receive multiple calls of this nature with slight variations.  We only had cell phones for several years, but decided to add a landline in case one of our young grandsons needed to call in an emergency.  Most calls are from telemarketers and scammers. Our ISP only allows me to block 12 callers.
Here is the message today - I cannot figure out the motivation.  I never answer unknown callers.?Hello this is a private message for Michael Smith. If you are not this person please hang up now. We just moved and got a new landline number.  They keep calling here asking for people who I do not know - probably previous owner of the number.  I told the guy there is no one here by that nme and to stop calling.  We'll see how that goes.  We also get automated debt collecting calls, but it comes across as "not available."  Wish I could stop those too.  Wish the phone company would hold a number out of service for awhile too before assigning it to someone.

Claudia brown, to stop the calls, there is a form letter you can get online and send it to the company caling to inform them any further communication will be via mail and if he receives any further calls it will be construed as harassment and he will take legal action. That should stop the call from that specific company until they sell the debt to someone else .

I'm not sure who this is because I didn't pick it up... I didn't recognize the number nor is it anywhere in my contacts... I'm assuming it's a scam caller...
