FYI - I worked for a telemarketing agency for a while (a legit one, that only called customers that opted in and knew they were opting in - I never got hung up on or told off for that reason ? not once).  Trust me, the DNC registry is in fact a real issue for telemarketing companies and keeps them in line.  The company I worked for went to the opt-in system after its implementation, and was always careful to observe the rules.  Management knows they can be shut down if they break the rules and so do the callers.  They are unlikely to do anything that means the company would close because that would mean they are out of a job.  The government will literally cut off your phone and internet if you break the rules.  All it takes is a few angry customers.  Basically, we were much more above board after the DNC registry was implemented.  I know the system isn't perfect, but it really does have an impact and it really does help.

Thanks for the info.  I am receiving calls from some of the numbers you listed.  I just pick up the phone & lay it down without answering.  I hang up after a few minutes.  After a week or so, they stop calling; they resume calling again after a few weeks but at least I get a respite from these calls.

Fact 1 - The DNC list CLEARLY does not work, everyone should knows this by know!
Fact 2 - Filing a complaint with the FCC does not work, a total waste of time; done that.
Fact 3 - Having an unlisted phone will not help you.
Fact 4 - Asking/begging telemarketers to take you off their call list does not work!
Fact 5 - No "class action" suits are filed and certainly, this is not a remedy.   Many of these telemarketers are in other countries and out of the jurisdiction of the USA.
Fact 6 ?Complaining to the BBB is a corrupt organization that sells their ratings to the highest bidder.

Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones.  They?re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd wireless handset, and they work beautifully!  These phones also block ?PRIVATE?, ?OUT OF AREA? and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!

I get these calls and I was reporting them to the Do Not Call do nothing bureau.  They won't do nothing because this is no violation and they won't inform you.  Go to fcc.gov./complaints web site and file a complaint.  I keep a spread sheet on the number, date time, and particulars (talked with someone, asked to be put on their do not call list, they hung up etc.)  When you get about 4 of these, then file a complaint.  Read what the FCC does and this is a violation of their rules if the caller doesn't have their name on the caller ID, they spoof their number (called back and this number is not assigned, etc.)  Also if they are a telemarketer or after questioning them, if they are trying to obtain personal info for fraudulent use.  Check their number (reverse search) with Spokeo.com and look at their collection of data from 800notes.com etc.  Read the current entries and you can determine their intent or verify your suspicion.  This company uses a series of numbers and blocking one or two is not enough to do the job.  After your complaint to fcc just don't answer and keep documenting their calling.  Should the fcc call you, you can give them the additional information.  Some of the numbers are:

If you answer an 855 number you will be billed for the call.

Get calls from this number every day!   When we answer, no one speaks; other times, we just let it ring.   Very annoying!

This was 20-30 minutes AFTER a similar call from a 701 area code.  See my note on that number  701-661-1003.  I'm wondering if there's a connection between that and this number, or just a big coincidence.

The only charity I know of that calls me always identifies who they are: BigBrother/BigSister.  They call to ask for used clothing and household goods in a charity drive in my affluent area.  They clearly are legitimate, but these folks claiming to be a "charity" as someone said earlier on this page, CANNOT be legitimate if they don't say the name of the firm.

I would like to pull the plug on my home phone, and may just do so.  I get more calls from these robots and scammers than I do from my friends and family, who all know my cell phone number.

Call came in @ 13:15 9/17.  Caller ID said, "800 Service," I did not answer this call.

I too have been constantly bothered by these people.  I truly thought it was a political but apparently that is not the case.  I have caller ID and if the number is not recognized at all I simply do not answer.  This has been going on since Jul.
Maybe if we all report them to the state's attorney general' office maybe it will change some things - I have been getting them for over 2.5 months.  I am going to try it.
