They started calling me last week stating they have a $2000 debt & received a wage garnishment & tax garnishment against me.  I didn't return the call.  Now they called my moms house saying they have a court date scheduled for me.  I mean at least have all the reps get the same story,

I have received calls from 508-745-5698 and 855-784-8370 and 800-377-7789 and 866-269-1654 and 855-657-8585 and 855-657-8586 and 919-237-9753 all of which are recent which tells me one of my credit card debts has been sold to another company. I stopped paying my credit cards 4 years ago when I lost my job, by the time I had a new job the interest rate was raised to 24% and the monthly amount was extreme, attempted to negotiate but they don't care, so I couldn't pay and the cards were cancelled by default. The debts are sold sometimes pennies on the dollar, so someone buys 1000 dollars debt for 10 bucks as an example, they then attempt to collect this debt although it was written off from the original card issuer, unless they open a civil case against you with your local government where you are then protected by your state laws, here in NC payments can be made to the court in any amount you can afford with a fixed rate of 8% with a written agreement with state so you won't be sold off again and loose any previously paid amounts, I wouldn't pay whomever is calling you until it gets legal by the state, here in NC they can't garnish your wages so if someone tells you they can its a lie, with these hard economic times and bank bailouts nobody is going to help you. Don't answer your phone and don't panic over random letters in the mail. Learn about the law, how you are protected, statute of limitations on debt collection, is it 3 years or 5 years? My situation is my own and it has worked for me very well.

They called my cell this morning and said it was an urgent matter and they have papers "under my name" with my SS# and I need to call them back today.  Call was received from (719) 423-7158, but I was told to call (855) 820-5187.  WTF?!  Yeah, I'll get right on it.  The woman stumbled through the message as though she was reading from a script, which I'm assuming she was.

The called my fam and said they got a credit card at there house in my name. idiots i am not calling this number back.

A company calling themselves DRS called for my son saying they were processing "whatever" under his SSN, and that he might not be aware of this matter and it was important that he call them back before day's end.  I called this company myself and let them know that my phone # is not my son's number and was there anything I could do for them.  They wouldn't talk to me at all.  When I inquired about the nature of their business I received only the inititals D R S.

Yes they call saying its an urgent matter that I am probably not aware of. I didnt call back but if it is from the IRS it would make sense. I got a letter in the mail stating I forgot to claim a w2 from a bank that gave me interest. It is a good chance it is the IRS. It is illegal to to say you are if you are not.

Called asking to speak with my sister I'm assuming,because they only used a first name for the person they were looking for. I found that a little odd, the woman said there would be paper work processed against the person tomorrow and she needed to contact them today.

Yup, they are now calling and saying they are from the IRS and you have a case pending that you need to contact them immediately. Isn't saying you are from the IRS illegal?

I got a call from a woman identifying herself as Sheri Chase asking me to return her call by the end of the day and it was regarding an urgent matter that I may not be aware of yet. On my caller id the number they called me from was (559)512-7096, but I was told to contact Sheri at (855)820-5187. Glad I never called them back.

Got a call and this guy (Randy Temple) saying he was an IRS agent. Who else has had this happen?

I was called at 9:30 am 6/10/2011 with a name I asumed to be my son. I gave him the message that he was to call 855-820-5187 about a urgent matter,but the call came from 1-919-237-9753.I called and was told that the phone was not in service.

I got the same call from (855-820-5187) She (Chelsea Ryan) left her name and when I return the call the guy said it was an urgent message for someone else and gave me a cell number to call.Like smh said,the person they are looking for isn't even in your household. I told the guy to LOSE my phone number!

Yeah, They call and leave a message making it sound really urgent saying that they received paperwork in their office with your name and social security # and they are "concerned" that you may not be aware of it. It is really just to confirm your phone number so they can keep bothering you.
