called, I answered and heard a robot say hello.  nothing more for about 10 seconds then hung up.

855-820-6082, Have received calls from all of these numbers over the past 6 months often from a young woman claiming to be "Logan James, Private Investigator, and that I must call the number back within 2 hours or that she will be coming to my place of employment or my home with "authorities" to serve civil papers to appear in court regarding fraudulent check charges. Then she hangs up. I am a senior whose name does not match, who has not even written a check in years. I have not given her any information except "you have the wrong person" I have not worked in many years, but come on over with your documents. No one ever comes but I still get phone threats over and over. This is so wrong and mean to do this to an elderly senior living on disability who is suffering with a disabling skull fracture head injury and orthopedic disabilities.

I've been receiving numerous phone calls from "unknown name" at this number as well as several others recently, but have been ignoring them until today when I decided to answer just to find out who they were.  

When I answered this phone call, it said "please continue to hold" a few times, then a man answered and said the phone call could be monitored or recorded and asked for someone named "Leandra."  I told him he had the wrong number, and he apologized for the mistake.  I assume this is a debt collection agency.

If this is truly a debt collector for AT&T, i previously contacted AT&T to tell them, I never had services with AT&T, I do not now have service with them so why are they contacting me.  I spoke with a representative who passed me over to a supervisor who told me they would take my number off of their list and now im getting a debt collector?!  I have had T-mobile for over 20 years.  If I ever thought about changing plans for a better phone, it will now surely not be AT&T.

Not necessarily true!  Just try to have an 800 number assigned to you.  For the most part they are no longer available.  Also, does the phone company really ask, are you an unscrupulous company and if so you get a "special" toll free number.  Some how I do not believe this to be true.

For everyone's information, you can complain to the Federal Trade Commission about collection agencies. The FTC website with more information is:

You can also sue a debt collector for civil damages, and I believe each violation is worth $1,000.

My experience with them: I owed a balance on an old AT&T business phone line, but I also have wireless and home phone lines with AT&T. These lying scammers (Southwest Credit) told me that I owed a balance on all three accounts, which I know is not true, and they made it sound like if I didn't pay, I would have all AT&T service disconnected. After calls to AT&T (3 calls, one for each account), I verified that nothing they told me was even close to the truth.

If you owe money to AT&T, only deal with AT&T directly unless you have been actually sued. Demand an itemization of the amount owed IN WRITING any time a debt collector calls.

This number (855-820-5189), as well as several similar numbers and blocked numbers, keeps calling me. Looking for a Jacob Perry. At ALL hours. I've asked to be removed from their call list and they still call. They ask me if I know how to contact this guy when I tell them I don't know a Jacob Perry. I've had my number for 6 years. This started about two years ago. I'm going to be reporting them to the BBB because this is ridiculous.
Tonight I told them I am tired of the calls and they hung up on me.

Called them back cause I was bored. Southwest credit. Bunch of Rude A$$ Clowns. Asked why they called and who they were looking for they gave me a name I could not even remotely say back let alone spell. They told me they would add my number to ther don not all and abruptly hung up. I initially got the prrecorded message saying how important my call was and then was disconnected. I called back and jacked in a ZERO (0) and it sent me to their operator. I am having fun now; maybe they will block my number.

Called this afternoon and asked for my son.  He hasn't lived here for 25 years.  I think it was scammers because we are on the do Not Call List and this was a toll free number

In the last 4 months I've been receiving calls from this number asking for another person I've been telling them I do not know that person, take me off yourl list and nothing happened they are calling me every other day.

Thanks. I was wondering who was trying to call me and when I read your post I remembered that a debt collection agency for AT&T had called me a few days ago under a different number. I told them that I was currently unemployed and she informed me I would continue to receive collection attempts from them. I am 100% sure that you are correct.

I agree ATT, dishing out a fine for quiting their service, never mind it just did not work in our area and calls and messages came 2 days late even local ones.

Right! Because everyone who gets these calls has to owe somebody! No one has ever called a number on file to find out that it now belongs to someone else who has NO DEBT! (Really, Hernando? Judge not, lest ye be judged!)

Southwest Credit Collection due to a AT&T cell bill after cancellation.  AT&T sent EOS-CCA after me first, now Southwest.  While I slowly pay back the ETF, there is one thing that can be said and that is....after all is said and done, AT&T will never have me as customer again.  I am not saying the other carriers are angels but AT&T would do well to "work with" their clientele to keep them from going elsewhere.

Got a call from 855-820-5189. Answered it and no one said anything to me. A few seconds later I heard a sound like my phone makes when I use the camera to take a picture. Then they hung up. I have no idea what that was all about but I won't be answering any more calls from that number.

But it would be magically easy for you to figure out who called and why.  All you have to do is ask yourself, "Who do I owe?"  POOF!

This is a collection company used by AT&T.  I don't blame companies for using collection places like this because they do need to get their money.  But, usually if something is in collections that means the person can't pay, not that they don't want to.  I dealt with this company and the first few people I talked to were pretty nice.  But, once I contacted AT&T to figure out what the debt was for I decided to take care of the original debt with AT&T.  Once I did this I was apparently put through to the rude people.  No exaggeration these agents that contacted me called me names, threatened me, and lied.  Nothing new for collection agencies (I have dealt with a few trying to clean up past accounts which I can NOW thankfully take care of) but I have never had someone personally attack me and call me names.  I was nice and polite every time they called and simply explained I took care of the debt.  I always go the route of trying to see if I can pay the original creditor because I have found they will actually report to the credit agencies that it was paid and collection agencies don't.  I was called lazy, white trash, trailer trash, poor, and random other insults.  I know that is a tactic to try and bully you into paying but does that really get results?  And the representatives that did this couldn't even speak proper English.  They used slang words and expressions when communicating and I find that really annoying.  If you can't effectively communicate in a professional manner I won't deal with a company.  

So if this company calls and it's a legitimate debt, which you KNOW when the debts are, I would say try to contact the original debtor if you want to and can take care of it.  If you can't simply tell them you can't and to have a nice day.  They want you to get into some yelling match or exchange of insults because it means they are getting to you and they won.  Most people who have money problems don't want them and they know that.

Calling about a bill that i have with at&t after dropping them for slowing my cell messegess down(Throtled me down  and i was withthem for over ten years) and was unlimited & when i text peopel  onmy phone book, other peopl i didnt even know got the text and acouple was going to have me arrested for texting them as we didnt know one another. so i dropped AT&T Cell. But before doing it, i called and asked how much for the buy out and they told me so i called 2 days later and cancelled with AT&T and changed carriers. Then they doubled wht they told me , so yes i owe but not what they say. The southest called me and are very rude and sait they can do a settlement but demand a post date payment etc. No way. They say i cant call them and everything has to be done over the phone. I told them to send me info buy mail so i can take it to my lawyer before i give them a dime as i dodnt trust hem. Too shady, sowatch out. Called my cell # looking for the infamous Thelma Dimmick; this woman must owe everyone in the world... I've been getting collection calls for her for at least 3 years!!!!  I called them back from a land line phone and asked that my number be removed from their database... done as simply as that!

This is the 1st time I got a call from this number. I took it because at first I saw 856 which is an area code where I live. They didn't provide a name or reason of call.
