So these people continue to call me and my mother claiming that I am being sued by Wells Fargo and yesterday they claimed they were going to come to my house to serve legal papers that never happened however they have also contacted my aunt. They call from a blocked number most of the time and don't leave a message. Just want the harassment to stop

Follow the steps in what you need to know in my post above. Also file complaints for FDCPA/TCPA violations, they have no business what so ever contacting minor children. Seek a FDCPA/TCPA attorney.

This New Era Assistance company is not only harassing me but my family members as well.  Telling me I am being served if don't pay money.... Asking for place of business and debit card info.  Telling me to be home between 8am and 4pm.  They have called my 8 and 10 year old daughters phones.  This needs to stop!!!!!

I have a better idea. I just received a call on my cell, didn't recognize the number so they get to talk to the machine ! If it were important they would have left a message, but didn't.  This has SCAM  wrote all over it. Its all BS !

Got a call from this number saying i owed wells fargo back in 2008 til 2010  total of 1179 and they said if i paid $450 they would drop the charges( saying they would sue me and i would have to pay 1500 in court fees) dnt knw what do is this a scam or should j take it serious?? New era?

Always keep a copy for yourself and keep a notebook with details of calls and any and all messages on answering machine.. Record any conversations also.

So these people have been calling my mom over the past few weeks saying they need to reach me so they can deliver some paper work and than today they called my aunt and I don't even know how they got that number but these people will not stop calling and I have no idea what they want any tips on how I can get them to leave me and my family alone??/

this guy name bob called me today an my daughter earlier??saying my son was being sued?.the address he gave me my son hasn't lived there for over 5 years??..an my son is a recovering addict  he was in a rehab twice for 3 month each,the second time he went to rehab he told me he had to go live in a sober house and he did?long story short.he had went to all his court dates an no longer is on probation an is doing great,,thank God??..an this guy bob who called me tonight,,,i told him i was going to check out the company new era ass??..online an he got very short with me an he tried to scare me into thinking my son needs to be served before there is a court date,,,,i asked him bob if this was a collection agency..he said no that someone is suing my son???i told him the courts know my address an knows all about my son,,if they wanted to reach him they know where he is???.but he kept saying my son needs to be served??.then i told him then tell the courts to serve him?????an i hung up on him?.check the new era a** online an they are a collection agency?? ???.:)

I just got a call saying they will be serving me today. they gave my name and address plus another relative.never been served and I know they try to  surprise you not give you a heads up. A guy name Harvey from verification dept said they will be delivering between 9-4 today.

Called me several times...name was Faith. Said she would garnish my paycheck and that verification had already been done. I did my own research and found that that is against the law! Received several other calls that were automated.

It is probably the "script" they are using.  Some illicit collectors are actually instructed to call "employers, family members, and associates" for the first 72 hours of "working the account" before contacting the alleged "debtor" (so much for abiding by the FDCPA).

End game their is two fold --- embarrass the person they are seeking to collect from and/or hope some family member gets scared and pays the "debt"

It is a scam.

If they are legitimate, they will have no problem MAILING you a debt validation letter per the FDCPA.  If they refuse to mail a DV letter to you, per the FDCPA, you should not pay them!

What a dumb butt your caller is - if he was legitimate he would've had your address and not needed to "verify" it!  Also, no one gets a heads up they'll be served - the court process server just shows up.  Oh, and you can't be legally "notified" of anything via voice mail or phone.

This mans second call  Yesterday tried telling me it was a legal claim against me; I explained I was NOT involved in any legal actions with or against my son pending or otherwise .  He said Obviously you do. But he wanted me to verify my address and if i would be home between 8am and 4pm to except and sign for the docs. I told him I was NOT signing anything!!! Nor did i verify any of his questions. I guess if he shows up I will have the Sheriffs here to meet him. Thank you for all the suggestions for I will be reporting this guy to federal agency's BBB and all mentioned in the posts i have read.

I thought the calls had stopped....But now they have started AGAIN!!!....I am so tired of dealing with these fools!!...They are calling on an old bill from 20 years ago and that bill has been paid off!....Miss Brown is her name and she didn't say what firm she was calling from. She said that it was regarding some legal documents. And she left her number: 855-880-0252. They can call all they want and threaten me all they want they have no grounds!!...So I know that the rest of you can relate. Don't let these fools intimidate you!! It's a SCAM!!! They are trying to scare money out of you. Oh yeah and they also said that they are going to attach my wages and get my bank account number for payment....Ummm! Yeah good luck with that!!! Only the IRS has access to people's accounts not bill collectors!!....These people REALLY need to be stopped!!! C'mon on fools...come and get me!!....You've been threatening me for a year now!!

Hi, i would like to know honestly if this New era company real or not cause they seemed to have a lot of info about me and my debt.

got a call from them, said they had documents to deliver and they didn't know how the homeowner (mentioned my name) would take it, to call them right away.  I called. They weren't even looking for the me, but someone else who I might know, saying they had a judgement against him and he needed to call to give a statement.

Ignore 'em.  Total scam.  Make a complaint to your local police. No one calls you before they are going to serve legal papers.  Local DAs don't deal in federal matters.  These are most likely Indian or Pakistani extortionists trying to scare you into paying something.  Don't give them anything. Don't give them any information.  If they call again tell 'em you know it's a scam and tell 'em to go to HELL!
