This was a rather complicated two part call, but I was only able to record the second call, so some background information is necessary.

[Part 1, non recorded call]

A fellow introducing himself as "Chris from Action Medical" asked for me by a pseudonym I gave to a telemarketer earlier in April. He explained that due to recent changes in the Healthcare laws, I was now eligible for a new topical pain relief medication that was better and safer than traditional pain pills, such as Ibuprofin. He asked me if I was aware that traditional pain relief pills could harm my liver (although a grain of truth, I'm sure it's a tactic designed to scare me into wanting his topical pain killing medication)

He assured me he wasn't selling me this ointment, instead, he could contact my doctor and my doctor could arrange through him to have it sent to me directly via US Mail at no cost to me. Of course, he would need the name of my doctor.

I thought "Smith" would be too obvious, so I told him "S M Y T H E". He spent a few moments on the phone with me, accessing his database, attempting to find my fictitious "Dr. Smythe".

He noted "This is odd, usually I can find 99% of doctors mentioned to me, but I can't find your Dr. Smythe..." and he asked me if I had a phone number for the doctor. I said I have my medical file in a drawer and I'd be happy to get it if he could hold, and he agreed to wait while I went to get my folder.

Big mistake for him, I pressed MUTE on my phone (no Hold button) and left him for 5 minutes or so, then came back to tell him "I'm still looking".

This poor dumb guy actually waited on the phone for over 20 minutes while I was "...looking for my medical file". At one point I heard him say aloud "this is crazy!"

He finally disconnected and I expected him to call back, which he did, about 2 hours later.

[Part 2, recorded call]

The following documents his second call to me, which I was able to record. He reintroduced himself and reminded me about the topical ointment and that he couldn't find my doctor on his database. I told him there was one more box of my files in the garage and if he'd hold, I'd look through those documents to try to find the phone number of my (fictitious) Dr. Smythe. He agreed. I feel so guilty (not!), I put him on hold (I was using a software telephone on my computer desktop with a HOLD button now) and he remained on HOLD for just over 10 minutes this time! At least he had three different sets of HOLD music.

I have been getting numerous calls every day.  I can not get up fast enough to answer the phone or I may be in another room and can't get to the phone fast enough.  It is very annoying and I don't know how to stop these calls.

They call but never leave a message.  Caller ID says "MEMBER SERVICES".

It is Obama's fault.

Same as above, calls come in series 3-4 times a day for a few days then nothing for a few days then back to 3-4 per day. Answering machine picks up and they just hang up. All i can say is thank God for caller ID. Shows as POWER CO

I received a call this evening (8PM) from this number- caller id states power bill.  I spoke with a rep who identified himself with consumers choice and wanted me to reference my power bill and provide my account number as "I may qualify to lower my electric rates." I asked how he got my number since I am on the do not call list and have been for years.  The rep was unable to answer my question and failed to comprehend that by calling me to solicit was a direct violation of this.  I will be reporting them, please make sure you do the same.

I am on the Do Not Call Registry and keep getting calls from this number.  I don't want to be bothered by them!!

Has anyone noticed since Obama has been President the scams are rampant.

know no one from this number but notice i am getting calls from it quite often....just called it and it is a recording saying we are asking you to do a shoprt survey.blah blah blah.......can't these people be stopped from harrassing people???/

This number has been calling for weeks non stop every day multiple times.  They are from an electric company trying to sell discounted services.  There is no one on the line when I answer.  Have tried redialing and got message to check the number and dial again.  They won't accept any incoming calls. Also dial as 856 283-4507.  Block them if you can.

this company calls multiple times daily. It must stop.

Live in NJ.  Received this call & others.  Like all have stated it's electric trying to say you'll get discounts.  BOGUS CALL!!!!

Does anyone know how to stop calls from these power companies?  I'm getting about 10/day from a few different companies.

I saw this number and "Power Bill" on my caller ID.  I hung up on them.

I  have received in 1 day 3 calls from these people they don't give up . I did tracked them down to a company in Runnemede nj, and the phone line was supplied to them by a company called Windsteram 1877-472-3832. When I called them they refused to give me the name of the company, so I filed a complaint against them because I am on the call up list. Call this company Windstream and asked them for the name of the company and if they give it to you file a complaint aslo.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tip.  I just filed a report with the FCC. These bozos call me a dozen times a day on my WORK phone line, which, by the way, is on the Do Not Call list.  Enough already.  Hope they get shut down soon.

Dial *60 and then follow the instructions. You can block up to 12 phone numbers.

How do you block the number on Comcast individually?

I just now filed a complaint

They call every day and never leave a message.  Can't be that important. Just annoying as hell.  Enough of a reason NEVER to do business with them.

You will never stop these scumbags! The more you report them, the more calls you get! You can report them till you are blue in the face. Nothing will ever get done. They constantly change phone numbers, use cell phones, and there is no way to trace them. The do not call list is a joke (typical government operation) Bottom line is the only way to stop these telemarketing creeps is someone has to go postal on them and make national headlines.

I receive at least 2 or 3 calls a day from this number. If I answer it, it is a prerecorded message from ACE, my 'electric company' asking me to select #3 or #5. I hang up at that point but they always call back. Never heard of ACE,  my electric bill from NJ is paid in full and account closed, and I wish they would stop!

They call me always a pre recorded message saying they are with direct tv. I have never had direct tv in my life nor do i have any plans on getting it. they call about 5-10 a day everyday. My caller id says power bill.

Alternated messages from discount center and power bill.  Both energy scams don't answer 856-851-3300 or 856-283-4507 .
