UNKNOWN caller

Why wait for them to call again to report them?  You already know they are shady.  Report them NOW!!  Everyone should be reporting people like this and not just complaining about it on a website.

I got a call today from 857-453-3836 and asking for a name which had my first name but wrong last name.  I told them you must have  dialed the wrong number and  he hung up saying I am sorry.  Looks like these guys are onto something.  I don't know who we should report these guys to..

no msg left.  call back # is always busy.

I had the same problem, they keep calling at odd times and ask for my name wrong. Very annoying.
We are listed at the do not call, but they keep bothering us. The FTC had no records...

Received call at work.  I didn't recognize the number, so I wrote it down and googled it, and got this site.  No message left.

Got a call from this number on my company cell phone...did not answer and they did not leave a message...

Person called me and didn't respond when I answered the phone. Sat there with dead air.

Called at my office. I didn't answer, but didn't leave any message.

For all I know this post is a back door to me since I did not answer the call from 857 453 3836. Actually, I do not answer the phone unless I recognize the name/number on callerid, unless I hear a message I want to reply to. The only way to stop all this crap is to screen all calls.

No First Name

Just received a call from 857-453-3836 and I answered using the Company Name. The female asked for me by first name and I responded affirmatively.  The female asked me again if I was the person and again I responded yes and I asked what she wanted.  She said that she was calling for someone else but was told that they were going to a meeting and that she should call me.  I asked who she was calling for and she said she didn't know, but she would call back.  Then she hung up before I could find out anything more about the call.

Sounded strange and puzzling at the same time.

Getting phone calls from phone # 857-453-3836 someone says my last name and hangs up. when tried to call back, the engage tone is busy. Looks like someone is doing some kind of fraud.

Called at my office several times. I never answered. He never left a message.

Also called work cell, but left no message and I didn't answer.

Some called adn asked for me by name then said they had a bad connection and would call back and they never did.

This isn't Broadwing Communications, they're a reputable company that was purchased by L3 Communications a few years ago.  I tried the reverse directory on the number and of course it's unlisted.  I've received several calls that I let go to answering machine and they hung up.  Today I answered and they ask for someone using a first name and phony last name.  I just told them yes that they reached Green Enterprises and I was Mary Green.  They told me they wanted legal documents faxed to them and gave me a phony fax number.  So all they're getting for their hard work is confirmation that a human being is answering the phone.  My guess is that they are working for a dirt bag company that confirms to telemarketers that someone answers the phone at whatever number they call. Be interesting to know if any of you get increased telemarketing calls now.  I just got one a few minutes ago from a city near by.

Same scenario as other calls I have received from different numbers:  Man with an accent calls to speak with a person in the company.  When I ask the nature of the call he says he is calling on behalf of ... and wants to set up the call between them.  He doesn't know what the call is about and will call back later with more information.  Yeah, right.

Just got called by someone who made no sense. They tried to claim calling the wrong number by including one incorrect digit. seems like some kind of a scam going on.

The phone number 857-453-3836 is assigned to BROADWING COMMUNICATIONS, LLC - MA and the actual exchange location is in BOSTON, MA.

So i googled Broadwing Communications and the 617 (boston) area code number listed for them starts out from asking for your passcode, as though to start a web conference. From other snippets i see in the Google search hit list, they sell voice communications, VoIP and apparently web conferencing too.

I am seriously considering reporting them and pointing to the reports on this page. Thanks, folks, for posting ... I was thrown off by that call and it was reassuring to know I"m not the only one (and that it wasn't a collector :-) )

Same exact experience just now. Caller asked for me but mispronounced my first name. I asked what company and he would not answer, only asked again if I was the mispronounced me. I answered that I will see if she's available, what is this in reference to please? He answered abruptly, "Never mind, I'll call back" and hung up.

If they call again I will start the conversation by saying that I am reporting their phone number to the FCC for violations and that things will only be worse for them if the caller refuses to give me information on what company they're from and what the nature of the call is.

I suggest others do the same.

This number calls our office asking for the Senior Legal Counsel.  Doesn't want to tell us who is calling or what company ... I did finally get the words "Mitra Tech" out of the female caller.  She couldn't tell me the reason for her call or anything other than repeat the name of the person she wanted me to connect her with.

also call asked for a first named person. The caller was mumbling. I just told her that you dailed the wrong number. She said Sorry, and hang on the phone quickly.

call asked for a 1st named person and when asked to ID themselves they just started to mumble,,,,,,when asked again and again to ID themselves and then asked to what this call was about....the caller really started to mumble and go on about who I was......I asked them several more times "WHAT DO YOU WANT".......the caller finally said "am I talking with ******", I then said I wasn't interested in what he was trying to say and I wasn't the person they were asking for.........then he went on again in a very low tone mumbling something about technology??......I then just hung up when it was clear this was one of those calls where the caller asks for the person by 1st name and  has nothing else to offer in way of information about themselves......
