Hi, My names is ----- I am calling on behalf of Marc Research, we are conducting a brief research project to examine vaccinations rates among families in your area. The FDA has required the vaccine manufacture Sanofi Pasteur to conduct this research. If you qualify and agree to participate you will receive a 30$ check for your help with this important research.
Does this sound like the call you are getting?

HOW THEY GET YOUR NUMBER-
They have a computer that randomly generates the phone numbers, meaning they have no control on who they call the computer basically starts off like this 111-111-1111 and goes to 111-111-1112 and so on and so forth. They don't know if its a business or a fax or a number that is no longer working. There is a real live person on the other end of the phone call.

DO-NOT-CALL REGISTRY
The Do-Not-Call registry applies for companies who are trying to sell you something, since they are trying to give you money it doesn't apply to them. Do-Not-Call laws ONLY apply to telemarketing SALES calls.

PERSONAL INFO THEY ASK FOR AND WHY-
The personal info they ask for is Name of Child, hello they can't go to a doctor's office and say child A's parents said I can have this info, well who is Child A....Your Name and address once again as stated above and the fact that they are going to send you a 30$ check. The last item they ask for is the Child's doctor. Again common sense is used here, about why they would need that.

WHAT TO DO TO GET YOUR NUMBER OFF THE LIST-
Pressing a Key on the phone to "sound like a fax machine" Really? I would think common sense would tell you no it doesn't sound the same. Odds are you just get your number thrown back into the system to be called at another time or another day.

Yelling into the phone not interested, or cussing at them, come on... COMMON SENSE. RESPECT other people and treat other people how you would want yourself to be treated. Odds are, you just made someone mad, and they will make sure your number is called back.

When you are asked do you have children living in the house between whatever ages they are asking for. Say NO! if you  don't them calling you back. You don't have to yell the word no, just a simple no I do not would work just fine. They will probably say thank you and take your number out of the system.

No I do not work for the company, I am a parent, who got this call lastnight, and I let them talked and answered the questions. I couldn't do it for my children are older.

Really this is just about common sense and respect, while I was on the phone with the lady asking her the questions about how they got my number. I could hear the other people in the back ground and was shocked when I heard a man say the person just called him a w***e and to kill himself. I live in Colorado and I asked her where she was calling from and she said MI.

I hope this was useful to you, and I hope never again to hear someone being told to kill himself just for doing a job. I would hate it if these were my children calling people and being told that just so they can get money. I am sure you would to. God Bless you.

Apparently you didn't listen well enough because it's not a drug trial. It's research on vaccines children have already received. And yes, it is safe and legal. The research is being required to be conducted by the FDA and your information isn't shared.

Actually, no, they aren't asking questions to find new ways to scam you. The companies conducting these calls are RESEARCH companies, they do surveys, they don't sell things over the phone. They don't resell your info. The vaccine study is legitimate and is being required by the FDA. If you answered and actually listened to the person on the phone (yes, these are real, normal people just trying to do their job and make a living) you would know that it is a PAID STUDY, meaning they PAY YOU for participating. Most people, however, do not get to participate because the study requires participants to have children of vaccination age (5 and under). If you don't have children in your home, just say so. No more calls.

Jokes on you. Research callers don't follow the DNC list because what they do is LEGAL. They aren't selling anything.

Their system will call you back if you just hang up without saying anything. It's not the person calling's fault, the computer calls you. All you have to do when they mention the vaccination study is say you don't have children. They thank you for your time and input that there are no children in your home and you don't get any more calls.

The DNC list does not exempt you from research calls, only sales calls. A study call is a research call, by law someone calling and claiming to do research must be legitimately doing research.

The federal Do Not Call registry covers *sales calls only*. A surveyor is not a sales caller. This fact was never kept secret from you. Here is the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site repeatedly invited you all to read before you registered your numbers.

MARC and the FDA are "issuing" $30 checks to people who complete the survey. Where is the FDA getting all of this money?????
They also wanted the name of my pedi so they could verify the brand name of the vaccines they've been given.

Told me they wouldn't need any "personal" information but then asked for all of my kids personal information? No thanks. Scam. Couldn't answer any questions relevant as to what was done with the research and when/where the findings would be published.

Survey
So I had read from other comments this group seems to be legit, But why ask me to qualify to take the survey? ,I do not feel it ethical to need to qualify to take a survey. I spoke kindly and said I would do the survey, I said I did not want to give personal info for a $30.00 check three times. On the third time I requested to take part but skip the qualify portion, she hung up on me. So you have to give info they can share with other companies to take part. Based on that I say they are almost in the do not call list category. I will not answer if they call back, I will turn them in since they offer money for survey's which makes them a profit market backed by big pharmaceutical companies. The truth is not always the truth you see, but the untruths they hide behind.

I told them the same thing and they have called every day several times a day since.  So, I think it depends on the marketer you speak to.

Survey
As most callers have said, it is a "vaccine survey" for young children. (Of which we have none, and have told them we have none, but they don't listen.)  My gripe is that they are calling after 9pm!!  They called three times yesterday.  The first time I answered and told them we didn't have any children in our home, the next two I did not answer.  The last call happened at 9:37pm!! That's my gripe.  I know because they are a survey they can call even if you are on the DNC list, however, I thought they had a time limit of when they could call??
