well IF you bothered to pay your bill on time then maybe they wouldn't be calling you like that. Did you EVER THINK about that? Or does blaming them make you feel better about yourself???

I have received about 20 calls from June 12 to June 16 2012 from 859-283-8074.  I understand this is a collection service for Shell Oil Co.  I checked my bill and I forgot to pay it on time on June the 8th.  I have paid it and now I am going to cancel the card after 15 years of use.

They were actually calling me about a 're-open' offer once my current payment arrangement with them is complete. They were quite nice and professional, actually.

I receive 6 to 7 calls a day from this number. Theres a message that asks you to hold on while they transfer you to a rep from citicards regarding an important message about my private retail account? I dont  have one. I waited to get transferred and then the call got disconnected. I don't have time for this, what kind of crap is this???

Don't know who it is, and they don't leave a message.  They show on my caller ID as having called 9x -- why not leave a message???  Don't think CitiCard owns any of my cards, but they could have bought someone out.  All accounts current right now, so don't know why they'd be calling even if they own one.

They do not leave a message because according to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) they are only allowed so many contacts a day. Leaving a message counts as a contact but calling and NOT leaving a message a bunch of times does not count as a contact according to the law.

Even if you are not the debtor they will call and call and call until they can beat some information out of you about the debtor or they find a better lead. If you don't know anything the best you can hope for is a pause in the calling when the debt account gets sold to another collection firm... Then it will begin again from a new number.

Yeah or you could just not be a dead beat and pay your bills. If you have a good reason like you lost your job or something they can help by setting you up with lowered interest rates and such. you have no reason not to resolve the issue its your debt take care of it.

I agree with the above post. As a former manager at the Citi location in florence, I can attest that there are several call centers. Florence, KY. San Antonio, TX. Missauga, MS. Etc Etc.
These are not small places either. They house thousands of employees. Citi does not use a private collection agency, they have an entire collections department.
CitiBank is the second largest bank in the world.

Trust me, awnser the phone. Talk to the rep. Even if you dont want to verify any info (why wouldn't you, it's your bill. And if it is your bill with Citi, you should realize that you may want too talk to them) If the rep is rude or otherwise unpleasant, ask to talk to a supervisor.

Simply hanging up puts you back in the circle of being called. It's as if you weren't contacted. If you talk to them, they update your case and it goes back to the bottom of the line.

FWIW, My info is true. I absolutely hate CitiGroup. I was fired for complete and utter non sense. They are a horrible company to work for and I would never suggest working there. But, as far as a consumer owing a debt, maybe my advice can help you out.

Citibank is on an auto dialer because of how many clients they have it would be nearly impossible to handle the calls otherwise. Theyre are a few main call centers, one being in florence KY. Just so everyone knows, unless you live in OH, MA, and one other state that I cant remember, telling them not to call will not do anything as they have the legal right to call you under the FDIC regulations.

My advice to everyone is to just pickup the phone and talk to them. Most agents at citibank are nice people who are just trying to do theyre job. As with all credit card companys, they have several programs that they can set you up on to help. Also keep in mind, if you pick up the phone and talk to them, they cant call you for 3 more days, as long as you keep them up to date on your situation you can limit the phone calls you will recieve.

Im a former employee of Citi and have worked in collections and Customer Service for years. Collectors are just doing a job, many go to college, have kids, play sports just like everyone else, if you treat them like humans they and act polite they will appreciate it and do everything they can to help you. I know that I have done everything in my power to waive late fees and other fees for people that have been nice, people that cussed me out... not so much.

I just got this phone call minutes ago.  It sounded wrong from the beginning.  Thank god i didn't give her any info! isn't there something we can do?

I swear the second i registered my number on www.donotcall.gov i have gotten more calls.  I bet the government gets money for selling the numbers out! or someone working on the website is getting money, or its getting hacked!

The number 859-283-3675 known to be traced back to Citigroup; 399 Park Ave.; New York, NY  10043; called me for the,it seems, millionth time, as I ignored their call since it was a voice mail the first time I picked up and hung up on them.  They continuously called back and I would ignore the call.  Finally, when they called this last time, 5-3-2009, I waited the call out to talk to the "personal representative" and to inform them to leave me the heck alone.  They knew my name which I did not tell them.  When they asked if I was so and so, I said, who wants to know and the said it was a personal matter and then they went on to state that I was responsible for a debt of my ex-husbands and they didn't even have his correct name.  I uttered some profantities as I was steaming angry and hung up.  These people should be contacted and warned.
Thank you for you help in this matter.

This company is really disgusting.  I recieve at least ten calls during the day and another five in the evening.  The calls come one after the other.  These calls come seven days a week.  No breaks in-between.  I cannot believe that they are allowed to call so many times in a day.  I think I will just cut all phone services.  I am so fed up with the constant ringing.

This caller is Premier Recovery of Florence KY, does collections for various Citicard fuel card accounts like 76, Shell, Exxon, some store branded cards...This company (and I use that term loosely!) will call up to 10 times a day, yet almost never leave any message, yesterday (12/13/2007) I logged an amazing sixteen (16!!) calls from 8:30am to 6:30pm, and this was after they had already signed for a cease comm letter a week ago! Their autodialer ignores answering machines and SIT (service interrupt tones) tones, if you try to ignore them, they will redial two to three times in a row...

I just looked Premier Recovery up on the my state website, this is definitely a third-party collector, despite anything they might claim to the contrary saying they are Citicard or Citibank.

This is a collection agency working for CitiBank that clearly pushes the limits of what is legal behavior. This low-life collector has a very persistent auto-dialer, will harrass you via multiple redials per hour if you ignore or hang up on them. Their dialer also apparently ignores all SIT (service interrupt tones).
