My husband found a problem on my computer, fixed it. The next day these people called (860-000-0007), heavy accent. I asked, "How do you people know there was a problem on my computer and it was cleared". She hung up, quickly. Have your registry cleaned locally with a familiar accent, like your own.

This number keeps calling. They leave no message and if I answer they don't say anything.

Just called Geek Squad & they said this isn't a valid # and they don't call customers, we call THEM if there's ever an issue.
(2nd msg from me)

I saw I had a missed call from this # & called it. Told me "this call can not be completed as dialed". When that happens, it doesn't seem "right"...like there's something fishy going on. I'm reporting it as spam & 2 be blocked on this app, TruCaller, & it won't be calling me anymore. I have my home # forwarded to cell so either way, it won't ring or get answered. I'm getting so tired of these spam calls, whether they're local or like this one.

Comes from India. Calls are Indian scammer/extortionists. Pulling the Microsoft there's-something-wrong-with-your-computer-please-let-me-fix -it-for-you-scam. Been around for years. You can't stop them from calling, but you can protect yourself. There's nothing the government can do at this point to stop them.
General Rule: If someone cold calls you with an Indian accent either offering you something or threatening you about something bad that is or will happen to you (unless you pay them money) you can be almost 100% sure that it's a scam. Hang up on 'em. Quicktime. Block their calls.

Someone called this morning. I didn't answer, but checked online only to find out that they are a geek squad scam! Funny thing is, we just bought a computer and it is not being installed until TUESDAY!!!!!!!! How stupid!

My husband said someone called (we looked up the number on Bright House Caller ID on our TV) -. Husband could hardly understand - English very poor - heavy accent - insisted that my husband go to the computer and turn it on ... "it will only take a minute" ... he kept insisting that he had to "do something" to protect the computer - hubby had no idea who this person was or what company he was calling from. We had had tech work done by OMG the day before (if you don't have OMG - get it - worth every penny and more - total complete unlimited support for an annual fee). Anyway, I was wondering if this is how computers get hacked, hijacked or have viruses embedded. I am going to report this and hope that they catch the scumbags - too much identity theft going on.
Caller: 1-860-000-0007

Received a call on my cell phone. Same stuff, said they were from Windows and my computer was sending error information. All I needed to do was log onto my computer and they would fix the problem for me. When I asked him the IP address of the computer he said the one I was on he said the one I was on now. Freaking Moron...... I'm on my cell phone and at WALMART!!!!!!!!!! SCAM, BIG TIME. Dont give any information to these people.

I just received a call about 5-10 minutes ago. there was a woman with a very accent asking if I had a windows computer because they were receiving a ton of junk mail and hacker viruses. they asked if I had a hacking software and they said if I don't I need to install one. so I hung up, but they've tried calling back 3-4 times.

Each morning I get a call (name unavailable) from 860-000-0007. The man has a heavy accent and there is a lot of background noise like it is a call center. He says he is with Geek Support and tells me there is a problem with my computer and wants me to log on. I hang up. Today I will block the call. Hope no-one falls for this.

Also just received the same call from this number asking me if I owned a Windows computer. I told him that I would not devulge any information to him and he hung up on me. Guess he knew I wasn't a sucker. My father had this same scam performed on him a year or so ago. They log into your computer and download a "virus checker" which actually infects your computer. Then they want you to pay to get it cleaned.

I also received a call twice today at 4:00 pm est. 1-860-000-0007. He wanted me to log on my computer with him and said I had infected files. He said that they are malicious and very harmful. He was a foreign guy with heavy accent. I hung up on him and he tried to call me back. I did not answer. Does anyone know if this is some sort of a scam or trying to hack computers to steal identity? I sure don't trust them. Be careful and don't let anyone pry into your computers because they can get lots of information and hack the computer!

Just received a phone call from 1-860-000-0007 claiming to be from Geek Squad, they wanted to check my computer this morning. I received a call on 4/22/2014 from someone indicating that they are from Microsoft their telephone number was weird it showed as 6-275-1900 on caller ID. Both were wanting to look at my computer to see if I was infected with "Operation Clandestine Fox," which is the vulnerability in internet explorer which I have stopped using for years.
