yes, got the same call on my boston cell phone today. no message left.

This is clearly a scam. Possibly attempt at identity theft.

The phone number was listed as coming from North Caroline.
A lady with an robo message states that this is about your credit card account with _illegible_ bank_.
And that you can press 9 to be put in contact with your bank.

I have received similar calls before and just hung up, but this time I pressed 9. They say you might have received a letter about increased interest (or that the letter might not have arrived yet), and that you can contact your bank to avoid this increase, or get a reduced rate. (FYI, I have not received any such letter)

Next , some guy picked up the phone and  asked what they could help me with and that  I was calling them, and jumped straight to the sales pitch. Then I said you called me, I didnt call you.  asked what bank is this for anyways. He said, Bank of America, Chase, it doesn't matter.   Then I asked what his name was. He then said Paul Under, and he started injecting a***ole in his answers. Unless his name was Paul Under A***ole. After a little while a manager, or the scam accomplice came on the line as well, and now the first guy started denying he had called me a***ole. I wasn't able to get any more information out of them before they hung up. Especially after I told them I thought it was a scam and I might call police they got very verbally abusive.

I have no idea what this "business" is. It could be a straight scam trying to get people to reveal their personal information and credit card numbers.  It could be one of those credit counseling or credit monitoring services, where you pay some insane subscription amount for a service you don't need.

I might call them again to find out some more.

I'm ready to scream.  They call my home and cell all the time.  They leave messages about lowering my interest rate. On what?  When I am able to answer and ask them to please stop calling, they hang up while I am talking.

Called AGAIN on 6/8/12; 1:22PM.  No message left.

Seems to be targeting MASSACHUSETTS NUMBERS.  We're in Berkshire County, but others posted from Boston, Fall River and Springfield.

Hmmm, "BERKSHIRE BANK" has been expanding into all those areas.  They USED to be a decent, MORAL bank, but recently have been taken over by money grubbing ENRON/BANK of AMERICA types.  Coincidence?

Got a call -- recording -- credit card company about my rates ... called me on my mobile phone

I got a call today but because of # I did not answer. It was forwarded to my cell from my business phone.

Not a real number, obviously spoofed.  The phone company should just block things like this.

Got call from 8640005566. Who is it

Call came in on home machine while we were out.  No message left, but is OBVIOUSLY SPAM as indicated by the "000" of the exchange.  Most likely an OFF-(U.S.)Shores number, SPOOFED to look like its within the country.

Other blogs indicate this is the 'lower your interest rate' CREDIT CARD PHISHING SCAM - again.
