Just got the call @ 6:45 pm ...

Like the rest, someone offered the ecoENERGY Retrofit ? Homes program (ECO grants from the Ontario Government).

I work in the field so I'm quite aware that this program ended in 2012 and told the callers this.  He hung up quite fast LOL.

"Ontario grants ? Ontario homeowners can get up to $5,000 in home improvement grants through the Canadian government?s ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes program, which is in effect until March 31, 2012."

offered to do a home energy audit.  Very high pressure and very weird. Offered ECO grants from the Ontario Government.

Received a call from 'Ontario Homes' stating we could qualify for 50% cash back on home energy costs. Asked how old the furnace and air conditioning was two which I stated less than 5 and 1 year, so they did not qualify.   He was polite.

They probably found a receipt which would have only the last 4 digits on it. I wouldn't worry too much, but to be sure, call your bank and get your account # changed.

Hi had exactly the same scenario....they called and identified themselves as Ontario Homes for Eco Energy Grant. The guy with the Indian accent had all the information on me including my house address...I was very curious on how he has all this info so I played along and let him set the appointment for someone to come to my house to check the age of Furnace in my house. In my mind I already had a plan to call the COPs when someone arrives, however the "guy" never showed up the next day at the time frame he set up....this is very creepy and kind of scary.....There got to be something that can be done...

Definitely a scam.  Guy said he was giving me a government rebate for my furnace but i don't have a new furnace!  Then i noticed this was the same guy who called a different time pretending to be a computer technician and I needed to pay to keep from losing my web even thouugh he couldn't name the ISP i used when i asked him.

Avoid at all costs giving any data.

I received the same phone call from 8662899940 the mentioned Indian guy for eco saving in home energy; he insisted to have me confirm to him the information he says; when I refused, he kept saying bad words with ugly Indian bad pronunciation; I felt compassion on his level of ethics and education  and asked him to learn something useful for himself,

Omg same thing happen to my and he even used my card for a purchase in Florida

Freeze the card report to fraud and get a new card

why not just tell them you have no furnace.... and no floors and no windows I love the carpet cleaning ones, i tell them no carpets here, not even floors here... we walk on the bare ground.... they wind up laughing and say thanks and break the call.  

Remember folks, some people are only doing this because they cannot get other jobs.... it is telemarketing and consumers created this mess by buying everything and anything under the sun to begin with....  you might say no twenty times to them, but it is a numbers game to them, 1 million phone numbers might generate only 1% successful conversion to a sale, do the math. 10,000 new customers at whatever profit they make per customer?  PLUS they sell your number to a list company as a working number where the people have purchased on the phone before.... that's worth about 410 bucks per telephone number right there....  and they don't SELL the list, they RENT it out.

Seriously?  You think the CRTC is going to make this go away?  Get yourself a call blocker for $99 and that'll be done with it.

Cutting off your Bell Canada land line.  Smart move, I guess.  And if the power goes out again to your cell phone, and you need to call 911, the only thing that worked back in 2004 power outage across Eastern Seaboard was the Bell Canada lines.  They supply their own power, you see.

Received a call last night from a male with heavy east indian accent wanting to confirm my address and questioned regarding the age of my home,furnace water tank etc. Stated that he was calling on behalf of Eco Energy grant and that all Ontario residents qualify for this government grant. Gave me a reference number and wanted to set up an appointment to do an in home assessment. I continually interrupted him by asking questions. He would not give any info regarding company name etc only to say he was calling from Toronto. When I refused to book an appointment he put his manager on the phone. Husband got on the phone and went through the same song and dance with him. Manager became verbally abusive calling my husband a Mother ....... several times and said he was going to f....my mother in law (may she RIP) We hung up and tried calling the number back several minutes later. The telephone rang a strange ring and was answered by a heavy accented male with "Customer Service how may I direct your call" When I asked what company I was talking to he said "How the hell do I know and hung up" I again tried this morning from a different number and tried a different approach. Phone was answered by an older man east indian accent "Customer Service how may I help you". Would not give company name etc and stated that I had the wrong number. When I confirmed the number back to him 1-866-289-9940 he stated that I had the wrong number and hung up. I called our local police dept to inquire and was told there was nothing they could do.

Got a call tonight from this number. Indian accent stating that my Visa ending in some number was used to purchase a tv product. All I said was "what are you talking about?!" And he hung up on me. Weird.

Keeps calling my cell phone.  I'm on the National do not call list, and this is the only one I keep getting. I don't answer and very glad after reading all of the different post that this number is either National Asset Management, a debt collector, of which I have no debt, or Ontario homes, or you won or something.  Very glad for the previoius posts. Not answering or giving out information.

They called and said my husband won $100 from a purchase he made with a credit care ending in &$@$. Which are actually the last numbers of our bank card! :( now what should we do??

Called me 20 times in the last few days all times of day and night. I finally was home to answer. Wanted info about my home.

They were extremely verbally abusive with me when I wouldn't give them any information about my home. Repeatedly screamed "F***" at me, told me to "F***" myself, "F***" my grandmother. I let him scream for a couple of minutes. He eventually gave up.

866-289-9940 has called me 4 x today. identified themselves as "ontario homes."

Same government energy rebate bull.  I am inches away from cutting off our Bell Canada land line.  When is the CRTC going to release local area codes for Skype?

Got a call from a loser named Elvis about an energy grant and wanted to know how old my furnace was. Geared him around until he hung up. Don't hope the CRTC can help. The air duct cleaners showed what a paper tiger they are.

This guy has called our house at least 1/2 dozen times in the last couple of months. He has a very heavy accent and I can't understand what he is saying. When I tell him this he just stays on the phone and says nothing until I hang up.

same thing and they don't know the first thing about the grant, don't say anything really and won't give me any information on the supposed company in Toronto, but they ARE STUPID.  This is not legit we replaced our furnace and had this grant already, this is not what they are offering.  Can't answer a single question about the grant or address of their company but want my address to send someone out to look at my furnace.  Honestly if I had the little bugger in front of me I'd knock his teeth out.  We should all arrange bogus appointments at addresses in the middle of nowhere.
What I want to know is is there a legit way to make this stop because they are phoning my house twice a day everyday and i have had it, been going on for weeks.

These guys called a couple of times yesterday and the day before.  Finally got fed up and called them back at the toll free number.  Asked to speak with a supervisor, they put me on hold.  No one came back on the line, so I eventually hung up.  Haven't gotten a call today.  Maybe they've given up?
I plan on calling everyone back now.  I'm tired of this, let's turn the tables.

these scum bags keep calling me. Thay don't leave a message, I keep calling them back and telling them to remove my number from their list Some Indian or pakistany Women told me she needed my name to do that.
But she would not give me the name of her company untill she got my name. I am on a do not call list. These b*****ds are working outside the law.

Got a call from this number - "Ontario Home" asking a bunch of questions about my furnace and told me it was regarding an Energy Grant.

I can't find any other information, but sounded very fishy!

Call came in at 8:07 AM.  I told the lady on the phone that we were sleeping.  She continued on saying this was very important.  She said there company sent us something in the mail regarding energy.  I then hung up.  Too early in the morning for this type of calls.

These people keep calling many times each day i have answered and said i am on the no call list to which them claim not to know about. I have been abused by these people and the foul language they used was terrible. I even called the police but there was nothing they could have done.

I just spent 20 mins with these clowns.  After many questions from me I spoke with a Supervisor named Sirus Rogers....yep, sounds legit.  After handling him like play-do he hung up.  I then called back and spoke again to the customer service knob.  I just kept calling them and now they won't answer.  I've had a blast and will handle all knobs like them the same way.  Shock-n-awe folks!!!   F*** those losers
