My son somehow got on the mailer for Maxim.  He got 2 or 3 issues and then a bill for almost 50.00 for the quarter!  He was under age - so I called - cancelled his subscription.  He just turned 22 - they STILL call to talk to him about his magazine subscription.  I have told them the whole story - at least 20 times - he has not lived here at home in almost 2 years.  They STILL call.  In the beginning, they told him his bill would continue to compound monthly and it would be reported to the credit companies, and that they would take him to court.  Nothing official has ever been sent in the mail, and no credit reporting.  This has gone one for over 5 years - got a call from them just yesterday.  Slime balls.

I received a postcard with a voucher for free airline tickets. It said to call this number, souded like a scam but I just had to make sure haha. Thanks for the info guys! Thank u Internet.

I got the same card as ya'll did and did some research on it. Never heard of these people even though  I do have a paid subscription to it.  Thanks to all of you for the heads up information about this. I'll tear up this card. It's a good thing I checked them out first. It's a scam.

Thanks for the tip, I got it in today, I bought my subscription through a third party, so chances are these guys are aligned with maxim in some way, shape, or form, maybe they get the list of everyone subscribed to them

have any of you that called, checked your phone bill. You may start getting billed each month just because you called. I have heard they can do that because so many of us have auto pay or don't look at the line items and just pay the bill.

i got this in the mail the other day. I called, and they said the same thing, and also sent me a 100$ visa gift card. I never gave them any credit card number ETC, cuz i dont have one :) no ss # wa gave, just said i should not renew my subscription, which was fine. :) i dont know if its a scam or not, seeing how i Got a gift card from them

Got a card out of the blue asking me to call 1-866-299-0858. Found this website and decided not to call. I too have subscribed to "free" internet magazines which I thought were related to my unused frequent flyer miles. Thanks for the heads-up! By the way, this scam has now reached Buffalo, NY.

Just got their post card in the mail after a few unsolicited issues of Maxim coming to the house and no one here asked for it.  The post card is from P.R.S. PO Box 261175, Lakewood, CO 80226, mailed from post code 80003 on 5/21/2011.  It says "Dear Penny, We are trying to reach you with Good News! it is really important that you call us.  Call toll free 1-866-299-0858 Control #A (followed by 6 numbers).  Call 1PM - 9PM EST Monday - Friday"
I live in the EST time zone but it was sent from another time zone.  It's a mass mailing to try to get people to call in and fall for their scam.  Glad I found this site and didn't fall for it!  Thanks for the heads up!

Ok, I also got Maxim and my postcard.  Funny thing is, I signed up for eHarmony for one month several months ago to try an experiment using a fake name (I'm writing a book on dating).  It's the fake name that the Maxim and postcard where addressed to.  Try it - you'd be amazed at who sells your name and address, even though their privacy statements say they won't.

They are still doing this scam, just got my postcard in the mail today, same wording as you guys got. It irritates me that people/companies are out to trick you to obtain money.  What ever happened to good morals and helping your neighbor?

I got the same card and thanks to this and other posts was able to avoid wasting my time on the phone with them. Instead I took the time to file a complaint with the post office and with Maxim Magazine. Even if this bogus company isn't affiliated with the magazine, they are using it as bait and so I am sure the publishers won't like the bad press. If everyone does this, you can bet either Uncle Sam or Maxim will harass P.R.S. even more.

Like many others on this post, I started receiving Maxim for some reason several months ago.  I received a postcard in the mail from PRS, PO box 2651175, Lakewood, CO, 80226 with the same message about good news and I was provided with a control number.  never called, but glad i didnt, because it sounds like its nothing but frustrating. shocking to learn such illegitimate places are allowed to exist.

I am glad I read this as I also got the card last week and I have had 2 or 3 copies of Maxim appear without me subscribing.
So I guess I will throw the card away and continue reading the magazine for as long as they want to keep sending it to me for free
