I have a list of numbers the same as "MissyC".

1-888-779-2393 (Called mar. 27 & apr 3)
1-866-777-1271 (called mar. 28 & apr 4)
1-866-888-6910 (called mar 30)

I dont always answer but when i do there is no answer. I called these numbers back and they all said it was a "Promotion Company" and if i wanted to take my number off their list then press a number. I am just afraid that if i do that, then they know for sure my number is good and will use it persistently and sell it.

I've gotten a bunch of phone calls from different 1-866 numbers, I've been ignoring them cause I know it's telemarketers, well, I thought I would just answer today and tell them to stop calling me, this guy (calling from 1-877 -3332040( from, after reading these post, realize MIGHT have been or at least sounded like Can Read something from Winnipeg, well he said I had been selected for a "bonus" and he just needed to ask me a few questions. He didn't ask for my credit card, I guess I didn't apply haha he asked my age range, when I graduated highschool and id I'd like to continue education, I was like "Fool! I  AM in school right now!" haha... in the end he said, "that's it" and just hang up :-/

telemarketing outfit and simply want your credit card number.  DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM !
I did, but they told me that I have ten days to cancell my subscription.  I ANSWERED THEIR TELEMARKETING CALL on Feb. 16, 2012 and have called the numbers above to ensure that I am within the 10 day cancellation time frame.  I will keep you all informed as to the results and further developments.  Unfortunately, I was foolish and gave them my credit card data.  If they are wise, they
won't continue attempting to persue the issues.  I called to cancel on the 19th Feb. 2012 and left very clear cancellation instructions at both Can Read and Rogers Media Publishing in Winnipeg and Vancouver.(answering machine).                                      
I will be taking other measures should they be necessary.  It's good to be retired and with time on my hands!  Nobody should have to be scammed.

The first thing that popped up when I punched in the companies name was this website. Not that I was going to give her my info anyway, but this was excellent to confirm my suspicions. Thanks guys!

Has any one ever rec'd the magazines...very skeptical and love magazines but not giving them my info....find it very funny that they can't give me a contact # until I receive the "welcome package" lmao...I am  am  certain that telemarketing agents aren't allowed to ask for banking or CC info over the phone...very flattered that I have been selected to receive a "special promotion" but they are not getting my info.!!!!!

18668886910 is a number that (can "read" or "reid") called me from on fri the 13th of jan, 2012 none the less. i spoke to a very wonderful lady who laughed exceedingly when i told her one of my interests was smoking pot. i cant believe i support this phone2phone/tele-selling by being their customer, im switching! just f****d yer self. how does it feel? every phone call is a thrust to yer own loose a***!

I was contacted buy these people as well and fell for it don't do it i changed all debit and credit cards just to be safe. Sounds too good to be true but they were rude and abrupt, even the woman i talked to first.

So a girl named Amber was the first minion I reamed out, 20 min of my life I will never get back.  I kept did not waste too much time with her instead asked for to speak to her manager.  I belittled someone named Riddel and made him speak for 20 min, then he finally hung up the phone, I guess he got so fed up with me belittling him, he kept speaking over me, like seriously how rude on his part to speak above me LOL  I think I made remarks about his manhood on multiple occasions
 Remember they need to give 3 warnings if you swear before they can hang up on you.  so you can swear all you want just remember the 3 warnings and if you keep them on the phone longer it screws up their average handle time.  Again, you can belittle them as much as you want as long as you don't swear directly at them, but feel free to swear at their company.  Riddel stated Can Read Services based out of Winnipeg is a subsidiary of Rogers Communications, but when one looks online all I got was this website, go figure, bunch of F***ERS!  If they are actually owned by Rogers Communications, shame on you Rogers, SHAME ON YOU!!!  The chance of actually being put on their internal do not call list is slim and next to none,.  Keep these minions on the phone it costs them money in lost revenues being tied up talking to irate innocent people who don't want to deal with their BS or make them seem like you are totally interested in what they are offering, put the phone down go make supper, come back and ask them to repeat what they said...

Got this call a couple of times. When I answered, I didn't always get someone on the other end. This time someone was there. He was Charlie and new with the company so I should take pity on him and put in a good word for him. I told him repeatedly I was not interested. The magazines they wanted to send me were great (Reader's Digest, Canadian Geographic, Horse Journal, Macleans, etc.) but I told him straight out that I was not giving any information over the phone to someone I couldn't find on the internet while he was talking. He went on and on about his personal preferences in magazines and Air Miles and how many he had, yadda yadda yadda. Finally, his supervisor, Carly came on and I went through the exact same thing with her. I refused to give her any personal information but they try to be conversational and get you to spill the beans. I finally flat out refused and she went into the legal liabilities of my credit card usage and that I could get it back. Why would I want the hassle to begin with? Can Read Services, boo. Do not talk to them. Be straight up front and hopefully it works for you. They called me from 888-666-4410 and said their head office is in BC.

3X today ...no message, but no answer even after 3 'hello's!  ??

I FINALLY got someone on the line...they kept calling repeatedly all day and this woman...who said she was from Winnipeg (sounded southern US to me) said she was from the CanRead Services.

I have a feeling that they got my information from a cheerios box where I signed up to get a free magazine...if so, I will be writing Kelloggs a very nasty letter soon.

I asked to be removed from the list and that they were harassing me. If they call again and I get someone on the line, I am going to tell them I am calling the police and filing charges of harassment.

I've also repeatedly put their various numbers in to the government DO NOT CALL database, so hopefully they will take some action against these criminals...because I can guarantee they are scamming people somewhere!

I have been repeatedly called by a man at this number who claims he is from Can Read Services in Manitoba. He is very aggressive, asking me to give him information that I'm not comfortable giving, and when I don't, he begins to speak in a very hostile tone. I have had to hang up on him a number of times. Steer clear.

I just received a call from this number aswell and it was about megazines. The girl Victoria was polite but didn't really answer my questions. She was very polite but clearly uneducated as her grammar was aweful. Furthermore, when I told her I was an opera singer she went off about Mariah Carrey as if she compared to Joan Sutherland. When I was forwarded to her supervisor and told him she was lovely but that I was going to pass, he must have assumed I hung up as he went on rambling rude insults due to my uninterest. I highly suggest you do not answer this number.

Just got a call from this number. Guy said he was calling from Can Reid services in Winnipeg and that " you have been selected for a bonus." He then launched into some personal questions and when I said " just a minute, who are you again " he said " I already explained that to you. " then I said " I'm not interested " he then said " pay attention next time " and hung up.

There was a recording, telling me it was for a Promotions company of some kind.
Press 1 to be taken off the list.  Which I did, then it said it will take up to 30 days to take me off...

Keep calling me too.  Never a voice on the other side when I answer...  Really annoying seeing as I'm eager to give them a piece of my mind!
