trying to sell bogus car warranties.

I received a postcard from Dealership Warranties, 12131 Dorsett Road, #106, Maryland Heights, MO 63043 recently. Maryland Heights is about 20 miles from St. Louis, MO. The postcard suggested that I call 1-866-533-9966. From the calls, letters and postcards I get from the St. Louis, MO area trying to sell me vehicle warranties, I get the feeling there is a school that awards degrees in warranty scams somewhere in the St. Louis area. Service Protection Program, United Auto Warranty, United Warranty Wholesalers, National Dealers Warranty (aka National Dealer Warranties), Dealers Warranty Services, Dealers Warranty and Warranty Activation Headquarters all have addresses in the St. Louis, MO area. All have deplorable reputations.

I just received a postcard like Harold's. The trick is, it came to my work address (where I don't live) and it had my name on it. I have no car registered in my name...

Got a postcard similar to the ones mentioned above. I love how they don't even state what car it's for...

I got the card from Dealership Warranties, 12131 Dorsett Road, #106, Maryland Heights, MO 63043. My understanding is that someone with a toll free number has access to your phone number IF you call them. So if a previous poster is complaining about getting phone calls from these scam artists, that's how they got your number. Do not call them. Send the card to the Attorney General of your state. Someone on another Internet did a background check and found about six people at these businesses all had criminal records, including armed robbery ad molestation.

My warranty card came in the mail. My '91 Caprice has been out of warranty for quite some time now. I have not called and probably won't. UNLESS I feel like harassing them for a few minutes. The card did not mention what car is about to go out of warranty. I might ask them that and see what kind of answer I get. Too bad we can't hire a few leg breakers to go see these guys. You know they are getting someone's aged grandma or grandpa.
Isn't there still a law about sending scams across state lines? The show me state is several states away from me.

If you call press *67 first, even from cell phone, so that they can not track your number and start bugging you on the phone.

I live in Massachusetts, own a 13 year old car that I had bought used from someone 6 years ago(no warranty involved), and recently got one of these postcards - so I knew that it was most likely a scam.
This is something that would interest the Attorney General of the State of Maryland. Through them, states are able to press lawsuits against fraudulent businesses. At the website (http://ago.mo.gov/) you can also file a consumer complaint. Pass on good, detailed information - the more they have to work with, the better the case will be.
