I received a call from 1 (763) 134-5678 and a woman that sounded very far away, with an Indian accent, adv. me to call 866-598-2246 and refer to case #25733, I assumed since they were using my married name it had something to do with my ex-husband. When I called they asked for the last four of my ss#, and dumb me I gave it thinking this was a legitimate collector, then they said I should have rec. legal documents and that they sent it to an address I lived at for a brief period over 15 years ago, then they said I was being sued by Cash Advance Payday Loans, for a loan amount of 839.19, that went into a U.S Bank account I supposedly had in 2004. I advised them that I had declared bankruptcy a couple of years ago and they said that this type of loan is not forgiven under bankruptcy. The man adv. me that I would have to get an attorney and asked where he could mail these legal documents to, I told him I wasn't giving him any information and hung up. Then I proceeded to do some research which led me to this website. I am concerned now that they had my ss#, and I verified the last four, what they may be able to do with this infomation!!!

I received a call from 214-134-5678 telling me some legal documents needed to be delivered from 9-4 but they would hold off until I called the 866-598-2246 and gave them a reference number and then they would be emailed to deliver the documents.

Someone called from 714-134-5678 saying they needed to deliver legal documents.  I wasn't going to be home from 9am-4pm so they then had me call 866-598-2246.  Afterwards I realized it may be a scam... doh!

I received a call from 866-598-2246 stating they have legal documents. I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy april of last year that was discharged. I have not incured any new debt. I cant confirm who this is and why they threaten me.

Can't threaten lawsuits in Texas. Plus any of my past debts are over 10 years ago. This is a scammer regardless. And for the above no one asks for money over the phone like that. By law they have to answer your questions about any debt.

The fact that it is not on any your (3) credit reports, won't necessarily mean you don't "owe" the debt. This only helps the process of elimination on what someone can and can't do while trying to collect on it.
For instance, If their primary reason of acquiring the debt is just to harass you until you pay, more than likely they will elect not to support a pay roll that involves credit reporting, which is done once every thirty days.
Or, if the company's sole purpose is litigation, (Judgement, Lien, Garnishment etc.) they too will not be reporting. If and when they win in court, a judgement would then be on your "credit report."
Every state has different laws on garnishment amounts, number of years a judgment can be placed against you, and whether or not they can place a lien on your property.

someone trying to pass as a legit company but really trying to steal your identity and get money from you. I got a call from them saying I had an account in collections of 4000 but they'd clear it if I gave them 800. checked my credit report and I have no account in collections. called them back and they didnt wanna answer none of my questions and hungup on me.
