By the way, the idea that it is th American Cancer Society is a lie. Misrepresentation violates the law and these people deserve to be in prison. Unfortunately they succeed in hiding down so they cannot be found. Send money to them and you only feed criminals. They will be that many dollars happier, and you will be that many dollars sadder.

Caller said they were going to "reclassify" my car... the rest of the message was unreadable due to crackling on the line. They usually don't leave a message, but after about 20 attempts, they left the reclassify statement. I think the number belongs to a company that does telemarketing for numerous companies.

oops, I meant A.C.S. and their awful call LIST. Sorry Im a little crazy about spelling :)
LinZ 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Ive have been getting hangups on my answering machines 3-4 times a day for the past several months, morning noon and night. I am so grateful to have found this board because I never dared call the # back. Now that I know its the ACC I will never give them a dime again and I have removed my number from their awfull call this. Its 9am on a Saturday morning and I was woken up by this call.
Susan 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
I used to just leave the answering machine on all day but now I just check the caller ID. If I don't know who the caller is I NEVER answer. If I'm on the phone and get an incoming call signal, I ignore it. I always have my mobile phone with me as well, and those who need to know the number do. If it's an important call that I'm not answering on the land line, those that need to get a hold of me will do so on my mobile. Unidentified callers to my landline can call as many times a day as they want. Who cares? It's their time they are wasting, not mine. Also, I'm told there is a loophole in the NDNC Registry. If you have done anything on-line/publicly where you have listed your phone number, you in essence have voluntarily relinquished your right to have it private, overriding the do not call registry and making you fair game for the telemarketers once again.

I took the advice of the person who said to call them back to get off the list but when I call back it says that the call can't be completed as dialed so I am now ticked that it is a bad number!!!
Carol 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Organizations like this use predictive dialers usually and sometimes that makes it seem like no one is there until you talk. And, it's your phone company that determines how your caller ID reads and shows the caller's information unfortunately. Wish there was a specific charity no call list the organizations could honor.

Multiple times a day. I never answer, they never leave a message.
JW 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
They called at 9:07 on a Saturday morning! After reading the comments above, I did call back and use the option of pressing 1, then 3 to hopefully be removed from their list. The automated system did say it was the American Cancer Society.

This number keeps calling several times a day and nobody talks when I pick it up. It's driving me crazy!!!! Just stop calling!!!!

Receive calls from this number SEVERAL times a day. NO ONE IS ON THE LINE ... I re-dialed the number and got a message machine stating it was the American Cancer Assoc. and they were closed !
andrew 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown

beverley jo 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Rec'd call today from this number, I told her to hold on and then just set the phone down and turned my TV volume up, they finally hung up, this is how I deal with these callers, they waste my time so why not waste their time too.
Erika Gifford 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Keeps calling daily. No one there when I answer.
Gus 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Call shows up as "toll free call" Any ideas?
Judy Hanson 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
They are soliciting and call every day at least once, maybe more. very irritating
Betsy 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
I agree with the comment concerning the caller ID being "unavailable". I would think an organization like the American Cancer Society would be proud to let you know who is calling.
This only makes me think that perhaps it is a scam so I don't respond.
Anthony Ganz 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
I would like my telephone number to be deleted from this list.

If you answer the call, just tell them you want off their internal call list. If you don't answer the call, call 866-435-7227 and speak with a representative there. They are exempt from the NDNC List, but if you tell them you want removed from their list, they have to do it.
It takes about 30 days. I just spoke with Suzanne and she assurred me we'd be removed.

I have been getting 3-5 calls a day from the 866-647-9734 phone number, and I am on the Do Not Call Registry. Google reverse phone number indicates that it is The American Cancer Society. I called the number and asked to be removed (press 1, then press 3), but the recording said it would take 30 days. I then sent them an email telling them to stop it immediately. We'll see what happens. Lin, Grand Rapids, Michigan

If you aren't proud enough of your company/organization to have it identified on Caller ID, I'm not going to waste my time answering it. Tollfree Number ID could be anybody claiming to be anybody.
Connie 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Call the number, press 1, then press 3 to be removed from their calling list.
mike 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
we got a call from this number today also. No message to go with it.
Dale 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
Dennis,
The Do Not Call Registry does not apply to not-for-profit agencies. If you don't want calls from American Camcer Society, call them back on the same phone number and follow the instructions to get on their list. Sorry, but there's no way to avoid calls from not-for-profits.
Marsha 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
I have been getting calls from this number daily for the last month ~~ when I do answer the phone, nobody is ever there. Thanks for the suggestion to call them back and have your number deleted from their list.
Dennis 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
What good is the Do Not Call Registry, when I still receive unsolicited calls 3-5 times a day????????
TA 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
I called back; the message said that I had reached the American Cancer Society. If you listen to the whole message, there is an option to have your number deleted from their list. They say it could take up to 30 days to remove. Sounds like a lot of time in this electronic world.
Teresa 2011-06-06 21:02:45 Unknown
I received a call from 866-647-9734 and they said they were from American Cancer Society. I received the call at work and I have donated to the charity through my work, so I assume it was legit? Anyhow, they just wanted to know if I would mail out information to my neighbors.
