This is the thanks I get for making a donation to The American Society-annoying phone calls at all hours of the day. I'll soon find another charity to take their place. And if they're smart they'll conduct business by mail. Why is it that as soon as one donates to an organization they are expected to donate again before the ink is dry on the check? It's insulting and it's time we put an end to these ungracious solicitors.

LIke the previous poster stated.  This is the American Cancer Society Notes to Neighbors.  To be removed: call them back (866-915-0385) Option 1, Option 3, enter your number, wait, option 1 to confirm.

THEN call the customer representative at the Cancer Society 866-435-7227 and complain the rep and then speak to a manager and complain again.  

Tell them their cold call, anonymous call, and hang up tactics are a disgrace to their organization and their purpose.  They will apologize and offer to remove you from the call list but tell them that you have already taken care of that.  Your purpose is to make a difference in their program - THEY HAVE VIOLATED YOUR TRUST.

I am sick and at home all day,somedays they call 4 or 5 times. I need to get this stopped now.

The following is a partial list still on my caller ID of the calls I received from 1866-915-0385 in the month of January 2008. When I answer,no one is there and there is no automated message. 1/25 11:57 a.m.;1/24 5:56 p.m.;1/24 11:33 a.m.;1/23 9:32 a.m.;1/22 11:01 a.m.;1/21 8:42 a.m.;1/19 11:37 a.m.;1/18 6:51 p.m.;1/17 8:59 a.m.;1/16 1:43 p.m. I called the number back and there's an automated message from the American Cancer Society stating that they are sorry they missed me and will call again! This is very poor public relations on their part.

Have received numerous calls from this number starting at 8:00 a.m. and at various times throughout the day.  After seeing this website and finding the entries I called and got a recording that say it's the American Cancer Society "Notes to Neighbors" program.

You'd think they'd identify themselves if they're legit, but it comes up as 800 Service across my caller ID.

This is a very annoying call. If you don't answer, they don't leave a message, if you answer, you get hung-up on. It unnerves me to see that they don't seem to care what time of day, or how many times they call. It makes one wonder if they are paying people to make a number of call contacts without validating that calls are really being completed. They will lose contributors for this cause.

They have called for months.  I hope that calling them back does the trick.  Their website is useless.

DIDN'T WORK - THEY STILL CALL REGULARLY AT EARLY MORNING HOURS.

I went ahead and called this number, pressed 1 and then pressed 3.  I was given instructions to be removed from the call list.  The recording said it will take up to 30 days, as those have already stated above.  I will wait to see what happens in 30 days.  If it persists, I will call the American Cancer Society with a formal complaint and then on to the FCC.

The area code tells you that the call is coming from Canada.

This number has called my phone 7 out of 8 days and I reported them to the state Attorney General. The caller is American Cancer Society Notes To Neighbors – called the number. Called one of their phone numbers after the 2nd call and they said it should be 48 hours for it to stop.

Don’t donate to them because they waste money and our time.

Called (American Cancer Society Notes to Neighbors) 866-915-0385 back...message said "Sorry we missed you, we will call you back in a few days.  Did not give option to have number removed, but said if I wanted to talk to a rep, I should call 866-435-7227.  The first thing they asked me for was my phone number.  I said "You have it, and I would like it removed from you list".  She said that she could do that, but she needs my number because I am receiving the calls from a different center than where she is located(she was very sweet).  I gave her my number and then she asked if she could have my name.  I politely said "no".  She in turn said "that's okay, I can still have your number removed".  She let me know that she has been told that it can take up to 30 days to be removed, but that it normally happens within 48 hours.

I've received so many calls from this number and at all hours and on weekends as well.  I plan to file a complaint as have others. I'm also on the Do Not Call List.  My number used to be unlisted, but now it is.  Maybe an unlisted number would help.

When I called 866-435-7227 which was suggested on this page, the person who answered said she would gladly remove our number from the notes to neighbors call list for the American Cancer Society

Blocked the number after several calls per day.
Having VOIP and be able to block any number=priceless !!!

NO ONE SPEAKS WHEN I ANSWER.  SEEMS TO BE SAME TIME EACH DAY.

I just talked with Peggy at the customer service # 1-866-435-7227.  She told me "Our number would be removed within 30 days..but it will more than likely be done in 48 hours".  Time will tell.

Been receiving calls from this number every day for weeks...just found this site and called them back per "Bob's" suggestion above "Call them back. Select option 1. Then you can select option 3. Enter your phone number and it will be removed in 30 days." and it worked i should stop receiving calls within 30 days...

I got calls at 7:49, 8:02,and 8:13 this morning. I have also recieved calls after 9:15 at night. Doesn't really help when you have a newborn infant in the house.

These people call inumerable times per week, sometimes several times in one day. NEVER leave a message - so can't be important - but am sick and tired of being harrased by thjem.

Get calls daily from this number at all hours.  Tried the suggestions below and will hope for the best.  Their harassment sure doesn't make me want to donate to ACS.  We are also on the do-no-call list - for what good it does!

They call every day, at different times. The caller ID shows "Not Provided".  Even if I answer it, there's no reply.  Just silence.

I usually get a call every other day from 866-915-0385. I will not answer the call. I lift the receiver and hang it up again quickly. They never leave a message.

When this number calls me, they never say anything, just hang up!  So what are they calling for; they never ask for anything.   I don't get it.   Do they ever say anything to anyone?
